I never even had the chance to set up an appointment to see Dr. Scarzella: her "answering service"…read moremade sure of that by incorrectly stating that my health plan was not accepted at the office! When I began to question how is it possible to show up in the health plan network and yet not honor that plan, the woefully misinformed "screening" service agent simply chose to hang up on my call! I called back, and waited patiently but no one answered ... When I asked to speak to someone other than the lowly "answering service," I was told that there is NO way to speak to any of the clinical staff at her practice without first getting "vetted" by the incompetent "answering service!" That should have been enough to deter me from setting up an appointment, but I'm interesting in seeing just how bad things are, and perhaps file a formal complaint with my Medicare Health plan, and/or AHCA. To be continued ... ;-)

I was told to lie on a table with my pants off, and then the doctor walks in and starts talking before we have been introduced, and before I could even see who it was I was talking to. The it was, "turn on your side knees to chest," then boom, a finger up the butt. I cam in for painful prostatitis and that "exam" was incredibly painful. He then swiped my butt once with a paper towel, and walked out of the room, calling over his shoulder, pull you pants back up. He came back later, and once again did not look me in the eyes. He held a tablet and was focused on that more than me. He was obviously frustrated and upset, talking to the tablet, calling it stupid! "I hate these things" he uttered in apparent explanation. Then he was up and walking out again, saying, "FOLLOW ME." We ended up at the front desk, where he told me "The GIRL will check you out." I was so shocked i didn't have time to ask or clarify anything. What was my diagnosis? What was the treatment? The receptionist explained I was to be put on antibiotics, and to come back in month. NEVER AGAIN.

As far as what needed to be done: I was told I would have a procedure done based off of an ultrasound. I was given a Rx for an antibiotic. I let them know that there was a risk of tendon damage with the prescribed antibiotic. They sent a script for a new antibiotic. I was in contact with the office 2 days before the procedure. I expected to have the procedure done when I went in. I'm not too keen on taking antibiotics due to the damage it does to good and bad bacteria in your gut. It's not healthy to take antibiotics unless necessary. It would have been necessary if I received the procedure. I took it for a day and a half, and got to the office to find out that it was supposedly not the best route to treat me to do that procedure after paying for (2 antibiotics) and taking one of them. The procedure is something Dr Sofer said she would have told a family member (of hers) to get and it's difficult to get certain images and diagnoses confused when it's a close family member and a patient has the same thing, so with that said, it seems as if the more invasive procedure is just being pushed for other reasons. Idk for sure, but I'm confused and quite honestly afraid to go through with the other procedure being recommended. I was given a physicians order for a certain type of MRI that this place is charging $95 for in addition to what my insurance covers.
