Expecting pan seared scallops based on asking the wait staff how they were prepared, we were sorely disappointed. Both dishes resulted in scallops that were more steamed than seared. The Sauces needed more richness in their flavor. Mine was the special with garlic sauce. Pretty bland. Husband had a tomato based sauce. Much better than mine.

It really should be a 5. I ordered the pan-fried haddock fish & chips and a delicious Hell Bay beer. I've eaten a lot of heavy beer-battered fish & chips and this was refreshingly light; simply rolled in flour and pan-fried perfectly. The fries were also bang on; fried but not greasy, and dusted with salt. They even managed to nail the coleslaw... I think this the first time in my life I realized this could be delicious as well. While I'm not sure I'll have many occasions to go back to Shelburne, if I do, by god I'll be eating at Ship's Galley.

Probably one of the best, freshest seafoods Ive ever had. Absolutely delicious and spectacular. While we are on the subject we had extremely, friendly, great customer service. The restaurant is very homey, clean, and tight. I had the seafood chowder - so good. And Fish and Chips - awesome. And I washed it down with a nice Canadian draft brew. It was mid-day, where a snack was needed to get us to dinner time, and Yelp to the rescue again. A quick search turned up Famous Town Pie Shop, and what an excellent choice this was in more ways than one. It turns out Yelp's hours of operation for this place are wrong, so we showed up just as they were closing. Being the chubby Merkans that we are, I tried the door handle and they were still open (thankfully). We were greeted with favor though as the nice staff welcomed us to try the last pies of the day. I asked for them to surprise me with whatever was available and settled on two savory pies. Uh-mazing! It had been a while since I'd last had a really good savory pie, and good ones are most certainly not available in the Southeastern U.S. of A, so this experience was amplified a bit. The crust was spot-on, the fillings were flavorful, and the portion size definitely is large enough for most North Americans. Once we scarfed down the pies outside, the owner came outside and gave us some outstanding recommendations on NS and excellent conversation. The spot is about 45 minutes from Digby and you want to arrive a bit early. The lobster roll was reasonably priced and tasted great. Apple crisp foe dessert was home,add and a real treat. You can also get other fish dishes, snacks, and anything you might need for the tour (a sweatshirt, hat, sunscreen). The fifty foot boat can accommodate about 45 people. It takes about an hour to get to the spot where the whales are feeding. The crew does a good job of explaining what to look for and what you will see. It was a fun day and I highly recommend a visit!
