Decent food for reasonable prices. Don't go if you're in a hurry though. It can be over an hour wait sometime. Staff is friendly and polite.

While sitting outside the cafe along the harbor, we met the harbor master who told us of his community, and mourned the closing of this restaurant; a place for fishermen and tourists alike.

Excellent small town restaurant with amazing food and portion sizes. I stopped here after my first…read morechoice was closed and I am sorry I did not make this spot my first choice. I started with the cup of seafood chowder which was really a bowl. he broth was perfect and the mix of seafood impressive. It was a great starter. I tried the Rappie Pie because when in NS.... It was OK but not really my cup of team. The quality of the dish was excellent but it was my first taste of it - at the encouragement of mom - and it just didn't work for me. I doubt it would work for me anywhere so I wouldn't ding them for this dish which is an Acadian classic. I finished with the Swedish Apple pie which was also amazing. I would definitely recommend a stop at Red Cap if you are in the area. There was one server - as bast as I could tell - and she was so pleasant and attentive. She did a great job!

Probably one of the best, freshest seafoods Ive ever had. Absolutely delicious and spectacular. While we are on the subject we had extremely, friendly, great customer service. The restaurant is very homey, clean, and tight. I had the seafood chowder - so good. And Fish and Chips - awesome. And I washed it down with a nice Canadian draft brew. My GF had the seafood platter (clams, oysters, all that stuff) and she really liked it. Oh, yeah. Big tyme, big time. I saw someone gave a one star review. Disregard / overlook that. Its not credible.

I grew up in Nova Scotia and on the south shore at my cottage in Port Joli! Seaside (known to some…read morelocals as the Dairy Treat) has always been a must stop for ice cream on the drive from the city to the cottage for my family. I always took this place for granted while I lived back home and you don't realize how lucky you are to have a little gem like this until you move away. I was just back home for vacation, it's been 5 years, and I was dying for a good feed of clams and chips. Not the clams you get out here or anywhere else. I mean real clams...the whole clam belly, snout and all battered and fried!! My mouth is watering! I have to say I was not disappointed!! I had heard that it had been taken over by new management and heard mixed reviews from the locals but I'm one of those who takes reviews and what people say with a grain of salt. I prefer to make my own judgment, plus I'd never pass up clams and chips!!! I was really impressed to see they have added a patio and tables outside. I enjoyed relaxing on the patio and enjoying my lunch. The inside looks much the same as I remember it, it was the best feeling to visit a childhood favorite place that never disappointed me. I was also happy they had coffee flavor available for their soft serve ice cream (which is the best btw) I loved the clams so much I had to go back for lunch on my last day on our drive back into the city!! I couldn't leave Nova Scotia without indulging again...god knows I can't get clams like that back here. Do you deliver?

Came back for dinner last week with the NS family and had a wonderful meal. We were seated inside,…read moreas it was a bit chilly, but walked outside after dinner to take pictures on the back deck with the most wonderful views!! I was with a large group, we brought wine with us and wine glasses were brought to the table immediately, along with ice water and warm rolls. I ordered the haddock, those around me went with scallops, mussels and seafood chowder and everything was fresh and delicious. My only suggestion is with the vegetable side, which appears to always be peas and carrots...I guess I would check in with the customer on that when ordering. I had no idea that peas and carrots were automatic, I don't eat cooked carrots, and they could have been saved for another customer. Dessert was a BIG hit with the group. Three ordered GIGANTIC slices of coconut cream pie and one, a most perfect slice of strawberry rhubarb with cold house made vanilla ice cream slowly melting on the top. Overall, a lovely night. A comfortable restaurant, where you can dress up if you wish, or not, with extremely fresh seafood prepared excellently.
