What a Blast at the Reno Aces!…read more We were invited by some friends to go to a Reno Aces game, and what a blast we had! They had extra tickets, and we ended up with Floor 1 seats right behind home plate--talk about the best seats in the house! It was Family Day, so the hot dogs were only $1.50, and they were hot, fresh, and so good! The Aces were playing the El Paso Chihuahuas, and even though the Aces didn't get the win, it was still such a fun and exciting game. Where we were sitting, we were blessed to have Richard & Kathie, our wonderful hosts in our seating section. Richard was also working the area, keeping an eye on where the foul balls were landing and making sure everyone was having a great time. Throughout the game, there were always team members getting up on different stages during the little breaks, encouraging the crowd to cheer, sing, and dance. At one point, they played the Electric Slide, and of course, I had to get up and join in! Richard came over and danced the Electric Slide with me, and then he surprised me by giving me a game ball! What a special and unexpected moment! The crowd was cheering, and it made the whole experience even more memorable. The atmosphere was absolutely perfect--the energy, the crowd, the music, and all the fun between innings made for such a wonderful evening. We can't wait to go back to another Reno Aces game! It's definitely an experience we'll remember!

I am very disappointed with the new $80million dollar Rec Center. It is not very well though out as…read morethe weight room is very small, the pool is nice but only 6 lanes, not adequate for swim meets and the lighting is too bright, The cost of admission has tripled $8 to $10 compared to the old pool, with no local or senior rate. The locker rooms are nice to look at but not functional, there is one small one person bench some lockers and no hooks at the 3 showers for towels or to hang your close on, so you will probably be putting them in the floor, I can't imagine how more than 3-4 people will take showers and dress at a time let alone a large group. The lobby is way too big if you just want to sit around, but that's not what we are there for. I will probably drive down to The Carson Valley Swim Center most of the time.

We did utilize the buses to go shopping and dinning as so easy to jump on and off as needed. The most important aspect was on Thanksgiving Day we encountered Nikki bus driver who was so uplifting in spirit as we witnessed her giving sandwiches to those who where homeless or down on there luck.

The park has alot of open space for kids to run around and has a pretty nice playground. There is also a Skate Park and parking lot on the opposite side of the park. The eastern side of the path goes along a creek and there were quite a few birds, ducks and squirrels in and around the creek. I did see graffiti on one of the park signs, so that made me wonder how safe it is. In general it's a nice park, but I would have to come back during busier times such as evening or weekends to see how it is. For now though I'm only feeling 3 stars.

A softball game was going on. The ice cream truck cruised through. Though older, the grounds are well maintained The trees, roses, and lawn are beautiful. I love going for a walk through the park on a Sunday morning - any time of year. The only thing that ever disappoints me is the behavior of some of the people who visit the park. I just spent a few minutes reading about the history of Idlewild. The park is about 100 years old. The first big celebration held there was the Transcontinental Highway Exposition in 1927. It celebrated two new major highways- 50 and 40. The California Building was built for the Exposition. I also learned that Idlewild used have a zoo and a fish hatchery, and the pool was initially re-routed river water and a few changing rooms. The material underneath the playground is artificial turf. There are 4 swings. There is a covered area with plenty of picnic benches. The people in the neighborhood were very friendly. The view of the mountains is fantastic. There are baseball fields and batting cages at this park. There is a small/medium sized grassy field with a walkway around it. This park has its own parking lot. There are no basketball hoops. There are bathrooms but they are locked when there is no baseball or when it's winter time. Have fun out there. -Dadzone
