I would agree with another reviewer and say this place "gets the job done". It's one of the only gyms in the area, and they have a handful of adequate coaches. Ultimately, leaving my kid at a gym on skid-row became too anxiety inducing, and waiting in the parent room was truly unbearable with how petty the running commentary got in there. And omg, the constant barrage of "book your birthday here emails". Marketing feels like they're squeezing you for every last drop instead of highlighting real news and athlete achievements. read more

This is a great gym for competitive cheerleading athletes. Not your mother's cheerleaders. My granddaughters been involved in competitive cheer for many years. She recently relocated to Reno and found this great cheer gym. The coaching staff is knowledgeable and supportive. It's a great extracurricular activity and a great way to have fun, travel and stay in shape. It's a great gym for this particular activity. GO 5 STAR! read more

This is a review for a birthday party event. We had my son's 8th birthday here, he had so much fun! It was nerf themed and they had a little nerf war which he was all about! The party hosts were great, loved having that 30 minutes pre party to set up too! read more

Five Star Athletics has been a wonderful experience for my daughter and her friends. Right now they are running and EPIC promotion, $69 for 6 weeks and you get two classes a week. First, we made an appointment through their and rocked out all the paperwork. Then, we took a tour of the building, very impressive! Next, each of the girls got to choose what classes they wanted to take. They were able to choose from 4 different ones. The girls picked beginner tumbling and jumps. Finally, they signed us up and we were off to bigger and cheerier things. I've really enjoyed the whole process of signing the girls up. Normally when you sign-up for anything, companies make it super miserable. Sofia first week was great and she really likes her coaches. The ladythree weeks has been really great too. At the end of this trial, I feel this is a great place to stay and continue our cheer journey. read more

If you have someone that is interested in a great cheer program Five Star Athletics is wonderful. A beautiful facility, amazing coaches at every level and an outstanding program for those interested in competing. They also have several recreational classes and camps throughout the year. I honestly can't say anything bad about this business. It's a great place to make friends with people that care read more

It is the best parkour place to learn It is so cool and it's the best you should try it read more

My daughter loves to cheer and this place gets the job done. There are not a lot of options for this type of cheer so we make the best of it. The prices are pretty high but it comes with the territory. I would give it a better rating if it wasn't for the money grab. This place sucks every dollar out of you, which is fine for wealthy folks. In regards to cheer, it is a good environment for learning and growing. read more

I tried to enroll my son in a tumbling class here. Paid online for the trial and didn't even get to use it after experiencing very poor customer service over the phone. The class times on the website are inaccurate and they will not enroll you in a class until after the "New Athlete Intake". By the tone I got from Shelly who answered the phone, you are supposed to know this even though I have never had any other activity I have put my son in run this way. Previously, we had stopped in on a Saturday to see if our son could try the class and when I brought it up on the phone Shelly said "no where on our website does it say to stop in." Very unwelcoming. Glad I didn't waste any time here! read more

For as much as we spend for as long as we've been there, it seems they are pros at getting last place.....consistently. Great people, but may need to change their methods or coaching for as much as they charge and demand. read more

My daughter has taken classes here at Five Star for three years. Coaches are attentive and caring about the kids. They work hard to make sure kids have fun and learn new skills. If you are looking for somewhere for your kid to have fun and make new friends this is a great spot! read more

Five Star Athletics is by far the best cheer facility in Northern Nevada. The communication is great, the calendar, competitions, and schedule is set well in advance so families can be organized. The payment plans are easy to follow and there are many ways to fundraise. There are different levels in Cheerleading and different types of competitions. The coaches collaborate to ensure that the athletes are on the right team to be successful and still achieve their goals to get to the next level. They also pick really fun places to go just incase you want to make it a family mini vacation. The coaches know each of their athletes strengths and weaknesses. Shelley and Ashley are my daughters coaches. I have watched them give their everything for these kids, working countless hours on routines, going to conferences to learn more, and giving up their own family time to mold these kids into great humans. They truly love these kids with their whole heart. My teenager would not be the same kind, confident, and organized person if it weren't for this gym. read more

Five Star should be called One Million Stars! I have nothing but great things say about this facility. My daughter just strives here and has really helped her not be shy and has built great friendships along the way! She is becoming not just a great athlete but a great person as well! I would recommend Five Star hands down! read more

There is no other gym I would want my daughter to be affiliated with other than Five Star! We moved to Reno over a year ago and came from a very toxic gym in Colorado. Five Star has treated my athlete with kindness, respect and has helped her grow as an athlete!! read more

Love what they instill in their athletes. Life skills. From pushing yourself physically to self confidence, and from identifying and sharpening skill sets to supporting team mates. Sports minded athletes are always going to be competitive but making strong minds will help athletes forever. read more

We absolutely LOVE our new all-star cheer team and gym family!!! My teen son is on the "Exceptional Athletes" All-Star Cheer Team (for athletes with any special needs). We moved here as a whole team from another local gym and have had about 3 practices so far. We searched out a new gym, they did not steal us away or anything of the sort. We have already been totally included in more "all gym" activities then we usually were in a whole season at our old gym. Our coaches and peer coaches have already bonded wonderfully with our athletes and are already pushing them forward in skills, but in a fun way for the athletes. They are now doing two hours of practice (including tumbling) per week. They switch it up enough that they are not too exhausted halfway through practice even though they are really doing much more. At our old gym they were only doing one hour (or one and a half hours if they took the additional tumbling class). Also, here we are only charged $40 a month for two hours a week that includes tumbling and at the old gym it was $40 a month for one hour and $30 more per month for the additional half hour of tumbling. We are saving money here while getting much more. They are only charging this $40 to help pay for the coach and opening the gym just for us on Saturday mornings. There are also a couple of other things we are going to save money on when it comes to competition season, because they will be getting some things donated for our team. I absolutely LOVE that my son and the other two boys on the team now have a male coach as one of their coaches! And he is amazing with the whole team! There is also a female coach for the team. There are just SO many things that likely would seem so trivial to those who haven't been there, but we are already seeing SO many things that are benefiting our athletes in the ways things are done differently here than where we were before. They have so many amazing teams and programs for all ages and abilities. I definitely highly recommend them!!! read more

Office staff and owner are the rudest and have the worst customer service ever! We signed up for the 6 week promotional tumbling class, and even renewed afterwords. During this 10 week time, anytime you ask a receptionist a question or ask about the free t-shirt that is supposed to be included they are horribly rude and completely dismissive. After 10 weeks, still no free t-shirt, some employees say "keep checking back, we'll have them soon", other employees insist that (even though their website and Facebook say there is a free shirt) "there is no shirt, that was a mistake". When pointed out that their website STILL says there is a free shirt, they blow you off and get very agitated that you are even asking. The owner won't talk to you, the receptionists (all but one), are so rude, and they lie. On one positive note, the coaches are good, and friendly. Will be exploring Ignite and Flips now... read more

Both my girls go here one is on team and the other one goes to classes for fun. I LOVE this place! The owners and coaches truly care about the kids. I have seen my older daughter completely come out of her shell. Not only has she progressed so much going here but they have given her self confidence and taught her discipline all while doing something she loves! I can't put into words what this place means to my kids. read more

Five Star Athletics has been absolutely amazing to us. My Daughter, Luna, absolutely loves all of the staff, and has since day one. They do not let her slack, and they do this while still maintaining a fun environment for her to learn and grow in. She looks forward to each and every class, every single day. Five Star also "adopted" our family for Christmas a few years ago and really made our Kids' entire Christmas happen. It was a rough time for us and they really pulled through for us. If that doesn't speak volumes of this Gym and the Staff, I don't know what else would. Keep up the amazing work and thank you all for always being so happy to answer this anxious Mom's million questions. read more

If your child does not want to be on the "team" don't bother. Daughters cheer squad went there for tumbling & to have a routine choreographed. 3 months later they had taught a cartwheel & choreographed an unimaginative routine .My daughter is an experienced tumbler & justwanted to get her back handspring back. The music for competition was delivered Very late to prepare for competition & it turned out that Carson cheer had the EXACT SAME MUSIC -choreographed by Carson 5 Star-ala Bring it ON. My daughter was taking classes here prior to the cheer fiasco but she will not be returning due to how the owner treated us/me. Total after thought . read more

If I could give this establishment negative stars for how they treat people, I would. I see others on here have left negative reviews also regarding the owner and staff so sadly, my experience with the owner was not just her having a bad day. I had an absolutely horrible experience with them this past weekend. My son has wanted to sign up for their ninja classes because his friend goes there. I tried calling during the week to see if we could sign him up for the Sunday 1pm class however no one ever answers the phone. I called four times in two days and left a very detailed message regarding my desire to get my son in the class. I should mention that of the four times I called, I was only able to leave a voicemail once, due to their answering service or phone system not working properly. I did go to their website to do some research on the ninja class and discovered that they don't open until 4pm so I made sure to call after that time. However, still no answer. So I decided to take him down there on Sunday, early before the class time to get him signed up. When the owner came out, she made me feel horrible because I had failed to see on their website that I was supposed to sign my son up for a "tour" prior to enrollment. She pulled up the website right there at the front desk, and instead of helping me through the process, or actually booking a tour for me, she scolded me like a child for not signing up properly!! I told her that I was sorry I had missed that but I was there (took off work to get down there!) and asked if we could just go ahead and schedule a tour. She told me that they don't take walk-ins and since I had walked in the door, I would need to go home and get online and follow their procedure online. I guess if you don't have access to a computer and the internet you can't be a customer!! Still don't understand why in the world they would turn away a potential customer who was looking to sign up for repeat ongoing classes when they could have just scheduled me right there. The absolute worst part of this whole thing is that it was my son's birthday and this was supposed to be his present, the only thing he had asked for this year, and he was standing there witnessing this whole thing! I had been trying for a week to get him signed up and now they were telling us to leave! I offered to pay for the class that day if he could just take it with his friend and they told him no! So insane!!! I ran a kid's business here in town for years and would never dream of treating anyone this way! My friend, who's son was currently in the class, was so enraged that she quit that day, too! I wouldn't give them a dime of my money, they clearly don't need any new business if they can afford to treat people like this, but more importantly, they don't deserve the business. There are way too many other options out there that value your business, and your children. These guys should be shut down! read more

Five star athletes is a great atmosphere for kids to come together and join a team. All of the coaches and the employees that are at Five Star are very sweet and caring for all of the customers and people that are on the teams. I know many people who go to Five Star and they love it it's a great recommendation for someone who loves cheer. If you are looking for a place for your kids to have a great time and being in a great atmosphere then you're looking at the right place. The great thing about Five Star Athletics is that you can start from whatever level that you are at, you can be a beginner or have been doing it for many years. No matter what you will get great service from the people in the front desk and the coaches. This is a great place to put a giant smile on your kids faces. read more

What a joke!! I went to watch my granddaughter with her practice and was told no parents are allowed on the gym floor. 5 star informed my daughter we had to go upstairs to view the girls practicing. I am disabled and can not do more then about 3 steps. The " upstairs" had what looked like two flights of stairs which any person with mobility issues and disabled to my extent would never be able to climb. According to ADA guidelines if you don't want anyone except coaches down on the gym area then you are REQUIRED to have ADA access to disabled people. 5 Star allowed multiple family members children on the gym floor at the same time so trying to understand why they have such discrimination to disabled people. I certainly didn't ask to have a disability but ADA protects my rights and everyone with a disability. Having construction going on with ladders and tools with cords laying around is a safety issue as well. Total bullshit and I will be reporting your noncompliance to ADA on Monday.. go to Ignite gym where it's a business who is educated in ADA and safety compliance. Again your place is a big joke!! read more

This business is all about taking people's money. I am a widowed mom of 2 girls who used to cheer there. The owners took $3800.00 of my money & has refused to give it back. Shelly, one of the owners, openly admitted that she owed it to me & assured me it was in the mail. Well it never came. So I called several times. Emailed several times. Facebook messaged her. Even asked mutual friends to have her call me. I never heard anything back & she still has not refunded what she owes me. In the meantime they are living it up in a nice house & taking vacations. I would be very cautious about taking your child there. They are not the kind of people I want my kids around. read more
