We loved the fried chicken spot that used to occupy this space on Sanibel, and knew that whatever took its place needed to command the same great flavors and friendly service we've come to expect from Sanibel restaurants. Scooters delivered and then some. After seeing other reviews we decided to order the Miles of Pepperoni pizza, Detroit style. Scooters' 8x10" Detroit style is the same price as Scooters' 16" Regular and Thin crusts, so the Detroit style might be a little less food than the NY style if you are trying to get the most bang for your buck, but I wouldn't think about ordering another crust style here. The crust is reminiscent of focaccia, with very crispy (but not burned!) buttery, cheesy edges that soak up sauce and ensure that every bite is as good as the last. Probably the best Detroit style pizza I've ever had. The toppings also tasted very fresh, and they even include fresh shredded basil in a cup with the Miles of Pepperoni pizza to ensure maximum freshness at home. The drizzled hot honey tied everything together and solidified Miles of Pepperoni as a pizza to remember. After seeing the option of different crust flavors we couldn't resist and chose "Scooters" crust style (Romano, garlic, butter) although next time we would not reorder a crust flavor with the Detroit style pizza, since there really isn't a lot of crust real estate for toppings (this may be a "duh" moment but we did not realize it until after receiving the pizza). We also ordered a side of Scooters' homemade ranch, which was creamy and paired well with the pizza. Although the pizza seemed small, the crust was thick and we, two adults, only ate four out of the six slices for dinner. The remaining slices were even better the next day for lunch. I foresee many future trips over the causeway to Sanibel just for another taste of Scooters. read more

Not only was this the best pizza on the island, it was by far the best Detroit pizza we've had anywhere! Super crispy bottom & edges very flavorful chewy crust, & delicious toppings of cup pepperoni, basil, romano, melted burrata & hot honey. Absolute perfection. The mini garlic knots rival the old Ft Lauderdale Big Louie's knots. Although Scooter's knots are not swimming in 1/4 inch of garlic oil, the flavor & texture are fantastic! We ordered a miles of pepperoni Detroit pizza which, as I stated, was the best we've had anywhere. We also got a large regular crust with cup pepperoni, onions & peppers. It was excellent! Servers were friendly & helpful with our choices. We did carry out & enjoyed our meal on the outside bar seating facing the parking lot, which was fine because the pizza was so fresh & delicious that it negated any bad views. We go to Sanibel island every year, and have never tried this place. There is no indoor seating which was fine. The wait wasn't too long either. We got the biggest pizza they had. It was a pepperoni pizza, and it was good. The garlic knots were a hit with the kids. The cinnamon bites were also good-they gave them to us for free to try it's a little pricey but that's just how it goes in the island. The staff was very nice as well. read more

There's no seating inside. It's small. There's some seating outside by the parking like at a bar with high chairs. Waited extra long to get pizza because they got the order wrong. They caught it before I did and corrected it though. They apologized about it. Garlic knots were good. Extra garlic and buttery. Pizza was very good the only thing was that it was all cooked well done. To me this isn't as bad when I have a loaded pizza but for a cheese pizza it really burns and dries it out. Overall it was still good pizza so if I decide on pizza again I'll come back. read more

We ordered the four cheese breadsticks, a Detroit style miles of pepperoni, and a 16" round supreme. They had it ready in about 15 minutes. Very high quality all around. Has to be the best pizza on the Island. The Detroit style is particularly good. Light and airy crust with a very crispy bottom, sauce on the sweeter side, and plenty of frico. May just be the best I have had outside the motor city. I also loved that they provided fresh chopped basil to top your pizza as you like. No indoor seating right now but they do have outdoor counter-style seating facing the parking lot that was mostly shaded at lunch with fans overhead circulating some air. There is a bathroom so you can wash your hands before eating if you're coming in from the beach or on a bike. read more

Not good at all. Thin crust pizza was dry and tasted overcooked. Regular hand tossed pizza tasted like Dominios pizza. The boneless chicken tenders were ok, I liked them a lot better than the pizza. Great pizza spot on Sanibel island. Walked in a little after 8pm and ordered to go pizza. Was ready in no timeand we brought back to our place. Was still hot and smelled awesome. We dove right in and enjoyed the thin crust version of their pizza. They have a regular crust which is a little thicker, but we wanted to go thin. They also offer a Detroit style. They offered flavored crust but we passed so we could taste the pizza and dough. The sauce has a sweet type sauce but not too sweet. Sausage is real sausage pieces not sausage slices like many do down here. Clean inside. Friendly and fast service. Saw a bunch of to go orders come in right after we ordered. read more

Scooters pizza and salad was absolutely delicious. Wow! We got a cheese and 1/2 pepperoni pizza with a Caesar salad. It's all about the flavors and they know how to make a pizza! The Caesar salad was so fresh and they use high quality shaved Parmesan cheese to top it off. Atmosphere was spotless and very polite staff. Just excellent all the way around. Such a amazing wide variety of diffrent kind of pizzas! My personal favorite was the white pizza and the classic cheese and pepperoni. Staff is always so friendly. After many years of coming to Sanibel/Captiva, we had yet to find good pizza on either island. This trip, we spotted at Scooters after checking into our timeshare at the HGV office next door. We're soooooo glad that we gave it a try. We just grabbed a regular pepperoni pizza and some garlic knots, but they were delish! Almost worth a trip from Captiva back to Sanibel mid-week. I told them I was counting on their pizza being good because they were the only place on the island with solidly good reviews and they did NOT disappoint. We ordered their 16" hand tossed supreme ( minus black olives) with scooter crust which seemed to be the most economical way to get a pizza with lots of toppings. It was soooooo good. The toppings were plentiful and flavorful. The crust was not overly chewy and had a light crisp on the outside, just right. Crust flavor was great. sauce was not to sweet and not bitter. One of the best pizzas I have eaten. And considering island life = island prices, the cost wasn't to bad. First of Buffalo, New York is my hometown. I know good pizza. I just had my first pizza from Scooters, a Detroit style and it was amazing. Best pizza I've had with a yummy crunch crust and wonderful cheeses & pepperoni. I always get a salad with my pizza to have a healthy choice and this mixed salad boasted fresh romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, and shredded cheddar in addition to other fresh veggies.
