They asked me if I would like to be seated or if I wanted to go order. I've said this many times I absolutely love French toast, and I always judge it based upon whether or not it needs syrup. I ordered the French toast with one egg and the smoked sausage. The egg was your standard egg nothing special. The smoked sausage link was a sausage that I have never tasted it before, but it was good very flavorful and was not fatty at all. And now the king of the show or queen depending on who you're talking to... the French toast. I will say that the French toast was good however to me it tasted more like when you get a slice of bread at home, put butter on it with cinnamon and sugar and you put it in the oven on broil and let it toast a bit. It WAS delicious. The bread was delicious, but it did not taste like your typical French toast to me however, I would go back and order it again. They also had some really huge cinnamon rolls in there. I did not get one of those, but they were quite literally about the size of a person's plate. All in all I definitely would visit the diner again I could go without the egg, but the French toast and sausage definitely would have.

Perfect. Good rating, reviews look great, timing perfect. My mouth began watering in anticipation. We drive through Palatka and find Berndt Ends....CLOSED. We found someone out back and were told that they had a catering so they closed. No sign, no notice on the door or on the web, just disappointment that we couldn't try them out. Loved the looks of the joint. Loved the name (the owner/pitmaster). Loved the reviews. Just didn't get to love the 'Q. I would suggest a call ahead if you are traveling or not very near to this place. Rating? How? I guess I'll rate it 3 stars and hope someday to get back there and let them prove that they are a 4 or 5 star joint.

However, the service from their wait staff has consistently been unsatisfactory. At least 4 times (on different days and times) I have sat in their front dining area waiting to place an order, only to be turned away after waiting 20-30 minutes. One time I waited even longer. The young lady took the 3 orders ahead of me and told me she would come back for my order. I waited another 15 minutes. She then returns but only from the kitchen door to loudly announce to me and the 3 new parties that just entered the restaurant that "we are no longer taking orders for take-out". I was taken aback at how this was handled because she knew I had been waiting a while and just ignored me. I understand that things get busy but this could be handled so much better. How about a sign on the door so I know upfront and don't waste 30-40 minutes of my day waiting for nothing? I left Berndt Ends that day and vowed never to return until they get staff that is friendlier and better suited to serve. This area in Florida has plenty of smoked meats and barbecue to choose from. While Berndt Ends sells a stellar product their customer service is so lacking, I would rather go to a place that is almost as good where I am treated fairly and, dare I say, even nicely. I'm not asking for someone to fawn all over me. And I understand you all get busy. I have waited tables myself and get it. Just be a little friendly and fair. I will understand.

First, Publix has amazing customer service. You are continuously greeted by the employees as you walk through the supermarket. They also will address any question or concern you might have. Customer service is just one thing that sets Publix apart. Another thing is their weekly BOGO (buy one, get on free) deals. Every week they have a slew of great deals. We also cannot forget their subs, affectionately known as pub subs. These are great subs. One of my main go to subs their Italian. I also like their roast beef and cheese. My daughter, who is not a huge sandwich fan, even likes their chicken tenders subs. My son, who does like sandwiches, likes their Italian sub, as well. Kind of weird to realize that some of the best subs come from a supermarket, but Publix definitely delivers. Oh, another thing that I am a fan of is the Publix diet iced tea, available over by the deli section. The deli is also pretty impressive. You can get cakes and whatnot, but I really like their bread and they also have pizza dough do that you can make your own homemade pizza. All in all, Publix is a great supermarket and it is my go to supermarket. If you have been to Publix, I am sure you will understand. If you are not familiar with Publix supermarket, try them once and you will be a fan. Publix has come a long way since they began here in Florida. They have expanded throughout the southeast and continue to grow. As I said, I do recommend Publix, definitely the best supermarket around.

The exterior is clean and simple. When you walk in, it's clean, simple, and a bit Chip and Joanna-esque, which I love. I was quickly greeted and told I could sit anywhere. I was given a menu and their drink menu. After being off coffee for a week, I saw that they make their own coffee syrups, so I got an iced decaf almond milk latte with their salted caramel syrup. While I waited, I looked over the menu. I really wanted to try the french toast or the waffle, but opted for the bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant and cup of their cheese grits. The latte came out quickly and tasted exquisite. Sometimes you get decaf and it tastes watery, but not this latte. My friend ordered a salad with grilled chicken on top. Everythign came out quickly. The first thing I noticed were the cheese grits. They were delicious. Rich, creamy, and flavorful. Get them. The bacon egg and cheese on a croissant was also really good. It was just after noon on a Friday when we arrived and there was a 10-minute wait for a table. Upon being seated, we were presented the menu. We both considered ordering the Reuben Sandwich but I opted instead for the Club Sandwich on Ciabatta (as recommended by our server) and a side of Seafood Chowder. We both just ordered water with a slice of lemon to drink. Our server eventually came back with my wife's Reuben sandwich served with a bag of chips and she also had my cup of chowder, commenting how the club sandwich will be served shortly. My wife liked her Reuben, with tender meat and sharp sauerkraut. She also liked how the rye bread held up to the strong flavors. My chowder was equally good but it wasn't served with crackers. We waited a while for our server to return so I could ask for some crackers but she went ghost on us. Finally, more than 10 minutes after my wife was served her sandwich, a gentleman, who we can only assume was the manager, came over to ask if I've been served my club sandwich. Of course I pointed to a clean table to indicate no sighting of my sandwich and I also asked for some crackers. A few minutes later, the same man came back with some crackers and apologized for a mix up in the back. That's when I told them to forget the club sandwich so we can be on our way. To the manager's credit, he had the club sandwich boxed up and gave it to me free of charge. He was very apologetic. I was still a bit miffed and thought about leaving the sandwich there but my wife convinced me otherwise. Needless to say, service wasn't at the forefront during that dining experience. Despite the service mix up, however, I was still inclined to give this place 4 stars for the taste and quality of the food. The staff can have some inconsistencies and I tend to believe that's not the norm for this establishment which has earned high marks on Yelp.
