Best scooters in the area drinks always better made then Cedar Rapids. Fast and reliable.

I went through the drive-thru at Scooter's Coffee shop. I have been to this business in the past when I could drink coffee and they have an amazing variety of coffees and flavors that were all very delicious. This time driving through though I ordered some oatmeal and it was very good. Scooter's Coffee Shop has a lot of variety of food as well. Ranging from cookies, danishes, muffins, to breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, cinnamon rolls, bagels, etc...you just can't go wrong with what you order, because everything is soooooooo delicious. The ladies that work there are all very knowledgeable about their menu and they are all very kind and friendly. Definitely a must stop for coffee lovers! read more

I'll preface this by saying that I'm not a big "fancy" coffee drinker. The most adventurous I'll get is a latte so I usually default to the coffee of the day. I lost my Coffeesmith's fix when I'm in town and Scooters is a capable replacement. They rearranged the display cases with the pastries in them a little but left the rest of the place pretty much unchanged. Its the usual coffee shop selection of lattes, mochas, and enough caramelly and hot and cold options to keep you coming back. There is also a drive thru that I've never taken advantage of (I like to walk inside whenever possible). Its a good product. I'm not sure if I'll keep coming back when I come to town, but I probably will on most occasions. The staff was friendly so no issues there. I liked Coffeesmiths alot and wished it was still around. Well it's not CoffeeSmiths but the new replacement of Scooter's will do. Since I only visit here when I'm in town to see family I haven't gone here enough to notice any extreme differences. They used to have two coolers of baked goods and I noticed only one now. Set-up seems to be the same on the inside. They also have a drive-through at this location which is convenient but it's a tight parking lot that can easily get backed up when it's busy. My coffee seemed to be the same quality. They have lots of tables/booths to visit or get work done, as well as a fireplace for some added ambiance. read more

I literally only come here when I want to do some work on my computer and I need to concentrate as I work from home. So I'm sporadically here, yet EVERY TIME I come, it's at non-peak hours. It literally takes the staff of 2-3 people at least 3 minutes of me standing at the counter and waiting to order before anyone greets me. I mean, acknowledge I'm here if you are busy. But like 0 interaction until someone is ready to serve me. The coffee is fine. The tea selection is pretty wide and the pastries are pretty good. I can't imagine being a regular here. read more

I came here to meet a friend for coffee, but I was also hungry. So I ordered a medium roast brew and the roast beef cheese wrap. The coffee met my expectation, although the wrap was disappointing. Or perhaps my expectations of a wrap have become too high maintenance, but it was simple with nothing to make it taste more than roast beef wrapped in a tortilla with some spinach, cheese and mayo. Mehhhh. However, the atmosphere is very lovely, and the building is beautiful. It's locally owned and beats Starbucks in my opinion. The folks behind the counter were friendly and helpful despite my Indecision. I didn't eat a pastry, but they looked awesome. So I feel like this is the place to come for coffee and a sweet treat. My husnand took me to to this beautiful coffee stop. Being a coffee addict, I am very selective about the coffee that I drink. Their coffee was very good -fresh and smooth. We also had veggie wrap and veggie panini. The portions were more than enough for us. Their cookie dough desert was tasty as well. The ambiance of the place was also great. We went there on a wednesday evening, towards 8. It was quite. Plenty of room for customers. We didn't check whether they have Internet but if you are looking for a nice place to work on your stuff this can be a go-to place for you. read more

My experience happened at the register inside the shop... The disgusting attitude from the woman taking orders on the drive-thru speaker was totally mind boggling. I work in coffee also, but in another state and I was super nice about just needing my drink re-made. She talked down to me as if I was an idiot and was so impatient/condescending. Honestly, I didn't even want to speak because it was so shocking. I was embarrassed FOR her. She is a grown woman who has worked there since I lived in Cedar Rapids years and years ago when I was in college. Perhaps she didn't recognize me since I had a mask on, but WOW my whole family knows about the incident now and won't be giving Scooters their business anymore. My father was getting coffee there every day. Not anymore! And to top it all off, the espresso was terrible. Watery and no body to it. I recommend Stillwater in Hiawatha instead. I went through their drive thru this morning about 9:45 before a 10:00 meeting. Ordered a medium extra hot latte. I also asked politely for a second cup. They thought I wanted to split the coffee and I said no I wanted the extra cup to help insulate the coffee as I liked it to stay hot. I got to the window and had to ask again for the extra cup which they gave me. I paid $5,35 for the coffee and gave them a two dollar tip. I headed across town for the meeting and took a sip of the coffee. It was barely tepid. I was, of course, not happy but instead of going back and being late for my meeting I didn't touch the rest of the latte and stopped back by the store at 12:30 to get another latte. The woman at the counter asked if I wanted to BUY another one. I said I didn't think I should have to pay for it as she could see the latte was untouched. She said two hours was too long. I explained that I was at a meeting and that this was the soonest I could get back. She said she would be "happy to throw my latte away" and that I should "have a nice day". I am not sure what else I could have done. There are many coffee shops to pick from in Prescott and not surprisingly I will never go back. read more

I like to think of myself as somewhat of a coffee connoisseur. I love all things coffee but my first visit to Scooter's fell flat. This location has a great atmosphere with some comfy seating options but it didn't impress my coffee loving taste buds. I felt like their options were basically just a more sugary Starbucks drink. Newer isn't always better. That's certainly the case at Scooters. The offerings are fewer and more expensive. My mocha was warm, not hot. My friend said his coffee was Just warm too. I was disappointed in the taste - or lack thereof. The service wasn't as fast or friendly as when it was still Coffeesmiths. If lukewarm coffee, taste, and service are your thing, then Scooter's is your kind of coffee shop. read more

Love the products and the brand, but the menu on the drive thru is not practical. It needs to be closer with bigger letters or even one before the drive thru. I've been through other scooters drive thru locations and this can be harder to read, take longer for people to decide [causing longer lines and longer process for order time]. I wish I'd discovered Coffeesmiths when I lived in Cedar Rapids. I was back for a business trip and told my buddy I wanted to get some coffee. I was surprised when instead of heading to our usual Starbucks, he headed out to Coffeesmiths. He said "You'll never drink that Starbucks crap again." Counter people don't know their coffee but that's okay, at least they think they the difference between a light and dark roast. I asked "what type of beans are used in the light roast". Their answer "light roast'. I smiled and said that I'll take a 16 ounce cup of that then. The coffee jerk did know that the coffee name was "Point Defiance" (which was written on the front of the coffee dispenser) and that it was grown on some mountain top. It was their house blend and thought it was a French Roast. They didn't know what country or what mountain the beans were grown on but knew it was grown on some mountain top someplace. I don't know if it made the coffee better being grown on an unknown mountain top or that the beans and roast were a mystery to the counter person. At least they were friendly and tolerated my questions. The coffee is better than gas station but not as good as Java House in Iowa City. Any drinkable coffee and wifi in a storm is my motto. Update: Came here in the evening and this place is packed. Younger crowd here on a Saturday evening. It seems like it has different crowds here during the week verses the weekend. During the day it's the older crowd that is replaced with a younger crowd at night. It has a good cross section of people here. Gives one a true feeling of the area and the people. Better coffee than Starbucks - but the RUDEST staff I've ever encountered at a coffee shop. We come here regularly and have only met one of the staff (younger man with a beard) who is even close to pleasant. EVERY other employee is generally annoyed with every order that is placed. Including the basic orders! The pastries are very good as well. It's a shame, because this shop has great decor, ambiance and ample seating. After a long move and two weeks without decent coffee and a tinge of homesickness, I was driven to find a good local coffee shop. They have a drive-through, which is super awesome. We didn't utilize it this time, but I am sure we will try it eventually. The coffee was good, but way too much milk in their latte and macchiato drinks. Service was okay...the girl taking our order was a little rude when we asked questions. Baked goods look awesome so I am sure we will be back to try those along with their coffee again. Also, I had originally marked 3 stars, but added one more for a feature that very few coffee places have: a simple sticker to put over your to-go cup. This is great so hot coffee does not spill out when going over bad roads. So simple, yet so many places lacking. At Coffeesmiths, you get a cute cow sticker. Extra star! read more

I'm here on a weekly basis. Some of the staff really know their stuff, but as anywhere else, the newer staff is in the learning process. They are not coffee "experts" but either am I. The point is their coffee is good, and reasonably priced, and that is enough for me. What I actually come here for is studying. The place has decent seating, many electrical outlets in great places for laptops, and they will let you sit there and study for a long time. They have a free wifi that actually clips along at a pretty good speed. It is rarely down, the owner seems to keep up on this pretty well. Actually the owners are in there fixing things, replacing light bulbs, and painting walls quite a bit. It is great to see a local business not just take advantage of the fact that they are local. They actually work. As far as food they have an excellent vegetable wrap, and turkey and cranberry panini. They also have protein powder, and low carb and low calorie options. Again only some of the staff know of these options. You quickly learn who is new, and who actually knows their stuff. Atmosphere: IIt's Cedar Rapids, so expect , Cedar Rapids. It is white collar, local moms chatting about who did what, and a few college students with headphones. No trendy music, no trendy people. It's a come chat, and work kind of group. They also have a fairly good selection of newspapers. Local, and a few national. They have a few local publications that I have not seen elsewhere. It is neat to take a break and read about communities around the area, and some of the things they are up to. (I took 1/2 point off for atmosphere, again this is cedar rapids, you have to fit in with your community. I would say people here wouldn't know culture if it bit them, but Java Creek Cafe is a short walk, and they have done a good job considering the area. The only real drawback, and the reason I took off the other 1/2: When the schools let out. ignore what I wrote above. This become a daycare area, and the management needs to get rid of some of these kids. The seating becomes sparse, the volume level gets too high, and I'll swear on the bible, that more than once I have actually see kids jumping from chair to chair acting this place was a playground. These kids rarely buy anything, and management has tried to put up an age restriction, but in my opinion it is time to toughen up and just give these twerps the boot. Parents who drop their kids off at a coffee house for hours need to be put through airport security, on an hourly basis, until someone can get the time to randomly drop kids off at their house, and leave, for hours at a time. Their is another coffee house within walking distance from this one. I strongly note: Java Creek Cafe does not have this problem. Why? Because they don't put up with it. read more

I was looking on Yelp to find a local coffee shop that was open past 8 PM on a Saturday and went here. They didn't do pour-over coffee or French press so that's the reason for a lower rating. From their selection of already brewed coffee, I picked their Sumatran and it was quite good!! About 40 minutes ago a kind and generous woman stopped in to your location and wanted to "pay it forward". She ordered her drink, paid for it, stepped off to the side, reached into her purse and pulled out $20. Softly she asked the girl who was making the drinks behind the counter if she would give the money to the cashier so that she could use it to pay for the next few customers in line. Loudly the girl said "what am I going to do with this". The patron quietly said, "please use this money to pay for the next few customers in line". The girl again replied loudly, "well that's awkward" snatched the $20 from her hand, slid it over to the cashier and proceeded to make the next drink. Not knowing what to do, the patron quietly left in tears. To belittle and humiliate someone for displaying a random act of kindness, is utterly egregious. read more

While the coffee is great and the drive thru is extremely convenient, this location is also a hot spot for pre-teens. Couple that with the absence of an adult manager and it makes for a less than pleasant atmosphere if you want to sit for awhile. read more

Let me start off with the things I do like about this place: 1) Nice decor with a 2-way fire place. 2) Free wiifi with lots and lots of plug-ins. Now the things I don't like: The wait staff is not particular attentive. They are friendly enough once they finally wait on you. I am here entirely too often. I'm usually in twice a week at least. The pistachio muffins are good; if you get them while they're still hot I'd go as far as to say amazing. The espresso drinks are all I ever get and they're great. Try the white rhapsody, which is a raspberry white chocolate mocha. The iced caramel macchiatos are my second favorite.
