It was National Ice Cream Cone Day. Lion and I felt we needed to do our Patriotic Duty and go get ice cream. Also I love ice cream. We've driven past this place probably a hundred times, it's not far from Lion's place, however never once stopped until now. I'm so glad we did. Scoops N Smiles is in a converted twin home, sandwiched between two big new apartment buildings on King Street, the "main drag" of Malvern. Parking is street, though there are retail parking spaces in one of the apartment building garages. We had no problem though finding a street spot right across from the store. Inside is bright and clean and cheery with signs and no fewer than three teens eager to scoop ice cream. The setup doesn't loan itself well to scooping & social distancing though, so we waited at some distance behind one small family while two of the teens smiled anxiously at us. We understand, the kids want to look at the ice cream in the coolers, we're patient. When it comes to our turn we see a bunch of different flavors, including "unicorn" , which despite my purple sparkliness is just a wee too many colors and flavors. Then I spot something I haven't seen in ages: Peach ice cream. Yes, it's old fashioned, and quite straightforward. No Green Tea or Birthday Cake Chunks or anything like that. Just peach. I go for it, and am not at all disappointed. It was smooth and mildly sweet, with small bits of frozen peach in it, and it was heavenly. Lion got the peanut butter cup which he also proclaimed "excellent". They have a fixins bar with all kinds of shakeable toppings - jimmies, rainbow sprinkles, oreo crumbles, etc. I go for the rainbow sprinkles, which added a colorful touch to my ice cream. Our normal ice cream spot in the area was closed for the winter so we searched Yelp and found this place. It's a small little shop. They don't have seating inside, but they have a small patio that is heated. They have a great variety of unique flavors. I ended up getting Eggnog and Butterscotch Vanilla. They were both soft and creamy. I loved them. They are very friendly and let you sample as much as you want. If you want great ice cream with friendly employees, come here! read more

I was in Malvern right? The Main Line? I bought ice cream for 5 of us and my bill came to $18. That alone is worth a five star review! We came on a Sunday night, the temperature was legitimately 7 degrees. Wind chill of -3, what made the most sense? An ice cream trip of course! There was a friendly teenager working along with the owner. Both were great. Not just "oh let's talk weather" just a genuine man getting to know his customers. I loved his energy, the kind of owner who I wish nothing but success! Take my money! Now onto the actual product. I had the chocolate peanut butter banana. UMMM, wow. I had the kids cup and it was a generous portion but I could have easily eaten more! Soft, creamy and full of deliciousness, this stuff was GREAT. A creature of habit I don't think i can stray from that flavor on my next visit, it's too good to abandon so if you're reading this...you know what to do! A go to spot in Malvern, I haven't heard of a single person who does not love this place! It is one of my new favorites!! Scoops has a ton of fun flavors that are different from other ice cream shops in the area. It is nice to get an authentic flavor every now and then. In addition, toppings are free. Toppings (syrups, sprinkles, candy, and cookie dough) are at the counter for everyone to use after they have received their ice cream. This adds another fun and unique aspect to the shop! The interior and exterior are nice. You can eat inside or outside which is a definite benefit. It is such a cute little place! I got PB weave which was amazing!!!! Was in the Malvern area and found this place on yelp! It's open all year round with good hours all year! Their prices are super great and they have a decent selection of flavors. I tried the maple walnut and salted caramel and they were both amazing. The walnuts were super fresh. In addition to the great ice cream they also had water ice, milkshakes, etc. I didn't see any toppings on their menu but afterwards I realized their was a whole toppings bar in the corner. Super neat! They also have pints available for to go. There was also a cappuccino machine which would be great for the cold! Great ice cream spot! The flavor selection is huge and you can sample as many as you please. Tonight I chose the Graham Slam. It was a graham cracker ice cream with chocolate chunks and graham cracker pieces. I enjoyed the flavor of the ice cream, as well as the texture. They even have a topping station where you can add as many as you please! This is all free of charge. Needless to say, I went up a few times! Next time I would try the birthday cake or fudge brownie! They have expanded their product offerings which for the most part has been well received. They have expanded their reach with off site catering with a small freezer cart and a full size food truck. Scoops and Smiles is an absolute delight on King Street in Malvern, and worth a drive to visit. * The name of this place fits perfectly. We stopped after dinner to satisfy my sweet tooth. Scoops: They serve both ice cream and water ice. There are a dozen flavors of each. I can't speak to the water ice, but the ice cream is decadent. Scoops and Smiles serve Nelson's Ice Cream, which has been made locally (Royersford, PA) by the same family for the last 50 years. This is good old fashioned Dutch ice cream made with a heavy dose of butterfat. Admittingly not great for your physique, but wonderful for your tastebuds. I had a mix of cappuccino chip and graham slam. Wonderful! Smiles: I found that the staff to be welcoming and warm. One way to see how successful an establishment like this will be is how they handle a rush. I saw every customer receive a kind smile and offers for tasting of the flavors they offer. This place has customer service down pat. I'm excited to be moving to Malvern in the coming months, and I will certainly revisit this ice cream shop. Good stuff! read more

My sister's family has been raving about this shop for some time. I've even bought a gift card for my nephew for a special occasion one time. Lucky for me, she hired the truck for a social event last night and I finally got to try it. The ice cream was a delicious and a high quality. Lots of classics and more innovative flavors. The water ice was one of the best I've had since it was blended well and nice and smooth. The combo I had (birthday cake ice cream and cotton candy water ice) paired very well. The scooper was super nice and friendly and also made the experience great. When the truck pulled up, all of the kids immediately ran up to it in a long line that moved fast. I love Scoops for their ice cream and home-made water ice. Whether you're getting a pint to take home or just something to eat on their deck, it's great. I also adore that they take time off around some national holidays (like Memorial Day and Labor Day) for their staff (mostly high school and college kids) to take off and be with family. They announce closures on their social media (FB and IG) so my friends and I know to make other plans (or just to wait an extra day for our fix!) Only suggestions for improvement are from my friends (who want more dark chocolate ice cream) and my sister (who wants no-sugar-added vanilla). I would also love a straight up blue moon. This place is absolutely great. The two gentlemen who were working there last night were so friendly and encouraged me to try as many flavors as I wanted. They had ran out of my go-to (mint chocolate chip) and made sure to double check the freezers to see if there was any more. I "settled" on a chocolate milkshake and it was delicious.
