La Jolla Shores was still buzzing with tourists and visitors when I came to visit this new ice cream shop the day after the Fourth of July. Thankfully, there was no line as folks were more busy hitting the nearby surf with kayaks and body boards. The chalkboard menu had plenty of options from which to choose (e.g. crepes, ice cream, sundaes, coffee, tea, specialty drinks). Eleven regular flavors and six vegan flavors of ice cream were available. There was a note indicating the vegan products contained tree nuts as a warning for those with an allergy or sensitivity. A single scoop of non-vegan ice cream served in a cup cost $4.95 which was quite hefty in my opinion. I ended up sampling the honeycomb and the Earl Grey which became two of my four choices for the mini flights that were served in small "sand pails." I selected the strawberry and salted caramel as the other flavors. The Earl Grey was the best of the bunch as the floral note really stood out. The ice cream was of high quality, but I just couldn't get over the pricing as the mini flights cost $12.95 which is high even for LJ standards. read more
