What's up with these reviews? This place isn't bad, they're conveniently located always a few people in there playing cards or with miniatures. The staff has been cool, when I've gone, and I've donated some random things and had some specific inquiries. Prices are within reason. They are reorganizing the store now - which is already an improvement. They recently started carrying Gundam Model Kits (not sure if I'm the only one who cares about that) and while they don't have a ton of them whoever put in the order did a good job, the selection is pretty cool. I had mentioned Gundam cards and kits in the store before and now they're carrying some so they seem to listen to customers. I'll keep swinging by here to check out their inventory and I'm sure to buy things from time-to-time. Hope they keep the doors open unlike Napoli's Pizza a few doors down - that was some of the best Pizza in the whole mid-cities area and still couldn't keep the doors open. read more

I always visit the Sci-Fi Factory in Lakeworth for DND and had good experiences, I expected to get the same wonderful experience at this location but I was sorely disappointed; this location may be bigger but the attitude is terrible. I came in with my friend so he could sell his Pokémon cards, he had a whole binder filled to the being with cards. Upon walking in, I saw the employee had eaten oyster shells and other take-out boxes on the counter. He did not greet us, and when flipping through the binder it only took around 2 minutes for him to just glance at the cards and declare them essentially worthless. I understand it is Friday night but it left a bad taste in my mouth especially because we came all the way here for the cards to not even be looked through properly. I feel as though he just rushed through it to get back to eating his food. read more

This place is extremely disgusting. Went in to play a one piece tournament not even 5min couldn't stand the smell and left. The restroom was the worst! Trash was overflowing with napkins and tissues all over the floor. The chairs and table are super old the smell in the store is just straight up body odor. As much as love a LGS, I didn't appreciate how much of a mess this store is. The bulk of space is used for gaming tables and that's fine, but shelves get shoved up against each other, so even if you tried looking you can't see what's on them. Shelves are broken and being held up by the board games underneath. Product is just stacked on the floor. read more

I'm not the biggest board game, DND, etc person (not at all), but married into it. My wife has something like 130+ board games, but one game she considers a grail game since it's out of print and hard to find (especially new) and I found it for her, here, for Christmas. To say she loved it would be a vast understatement. They had 2 copies of it at the time. Also, I'm outside of my element in stores like this, since I'm a video gamer and not a fan of board games or anything like that, but the I spoke to was very welcoming and accommodating to answer any questions. Now the fun of trying to find the expansions to add to her collection, which is a whole other challenge in it's self lol. This place is absolutely disgusting. No greeting, no offer for assistance or even acknowledgement I was there. I didn't even see an employee for 20 minutes while walking up and down the isles. He was on his phone the whole time. I have patronized this location for years and I cannot believe what it has become. It's such a shame to present to our community a business like this. It's dirty and the prices are absolutely insane for Funko Pops, toys, Pokemon cards and board games. The doors and windows have weeks of dirt on them. Why would I take my family here? The only reason I can imagine this place stays in business is that other customers have no idea of where else to go. As a resident, I am disgusted. As a patron, I am saddened. This place is just messy and unorganized. The whole place is in disarray, making for an unpleasant shopping experience.

I'd love to provide a positive update to this business. Just can't do it. Today 7/3/2019 Walking Dead #193 released. The owner of the SciFi Factory has decided that price gouging is a good thing. He's selling this issue for $15 on release day. Cover price is 3.99. I hope the eleven dollar markup is worth the price gouging complaint to the State Attorney General. Store was open, and over a dozen people were inside playing card games, warhammer 40k, and shopping around, but the doors were locked and my attempts to flag anyone down were ignored. Apparently closes at 7:00pm on Monday unless you're apart of an exclusive club. (Despite the online hours being listed as 10:00am-9:00pm) When I tried to call the store, the person answering told me the store was closed despite hearing a bunch of voices and background noise, and seeing the dude answer the phone from the window. Not really sure how you expect to run a store when you don't allow customers in. read more

Love this place! There's a bit of a markup on their boardgames but nothing crazy, maybe 15%. They have a really great selection of boardgames to choose from and nothing beats picking something out so you can go home and play it right away. The last few times I've been to Sci Fi Factory there were all sorts of tabletop games being played in the left half of the store--big groups of people playing Warhammer 40K and Magic the Gathering. The girl at the register also said that they have Dungeons & Dragons groups that meet there during the week. It's pretty cool seeing the local gaming community gathered like that! The noise level was pretty low for the amount of people in the shop, too :) That said... the whole store smells a little sour, like comic-con sweat + farts, but that's just nerd funk I guess. Still, maybe an air purifier and some Febreze will help a bit during game nights. Woof! read more

Selection is great and the employee I spoke to was very knowledgeable. However for most products, prepare to pay extreme scalper prices. I agree that stores can sell their products for whatever price they want, but be prepared to pay triple or quadruple retail prices here. read more

I tried buying the Exodia 6" funko pop that had a price sticker for $29.99 on it from. the store. Cashier pulled up ppg & said it was $40. This place has become even worse than scalpers when it comes to collectibles. Pre hype I was spending over 1k per month on cards. The other day I walked in and decided to share with the employee how over prices they were and he proceeded to tell me that's the direction he was given and there were other places to shop. The hype will fade but I will never forget what this store decided to do to is customers. No doubt I'll still spend the same money but this business will never see another dollar of my money for sure. read more

This place is great, however if you're looking for comic books you will be sadly disappointed. You walk in and about 3/4 of the store is gaming tables occupied by gamers of various shapes, ages, and sizes. The other quarter of the store sells plushies, t-shirts, collectibles from movies, comic books series along with shows such as Adventure Time and MIL. You can buy basic supplies for Warhammer 40k, Magic the Gathering and other games. In addition to that they do sell comic books (both new and vintage) but if you're a purist this place may not be your cup of tea. One awesome thing I noticed that they stocked at this store was old vintage DIY models of Star Wars and Star Trek models. My uncles used to have these when I was a kid. Anyways, if you're looking for a social gaming place - this is definitely your place. You can even get food delivered to the store for you. read more

Despite living close to this shop for over a year, I finally stopped by about a month ago. I was looking for a board game and they had the one I was looking for, had a good overall selection, and we're able to tell me when another I was interested in would be in. It was also Pokemon night however it wasn't at all dominating the store. This place has a bit of everything, from board games to comics to video games and specialty nights. More of a jack of all trades than a specific focus but I appreciate that. Will definitely frequent again and am hoping to make it on a Tuesday board game night. read more

My son and I are there a lot and they are so nice to him the give him extra cards for free and they help us.

For new comic books this place is not the place to go. all comics were put in bins and they seemed to have some decent back issues for cheap. However everything was in bins and it was a huge gaming night so I couldn't get to the new comics because tables were in the way. There had to be 30 people or more in the store that is prob a record for a comic store ... But they were all playing games or scarfing down food. I was going to move my business here instead of going to lewisville but I get great service at my current store and compared to sci fi its worth the distance. I was never greeted at all at sci fi and its set up more for gaming . If u love gaming go here u will be in heaven. If u love comics avoid this place it will just make u sad . Every time I come to town, I pass by this gaming store. They have a variety of board games and fantasy games for those who want to play and interact with others in the community. The employees there are very helpful, explaining their products and answering any questions the customers may have. Their prices are fair for the type of store that it is and the genre it identifies itself with. I have never had a bad experience. The store is large and has room to expand inventory. It's a clean place with lots of tables in the back corner for gamers. They also had a decent selection of board games that can be played in the store. They also do various gaming events and have a full calendar on their website. They carry a fair selection of video games, but not as many as say, Gamestop. They have most current, popular comic books, and a few, older comics. I'm not a big comic book guy, so the limited selection of books didn't bother me much. They had a decent selection of tabletop games and a few RPGs, and what they don't have, they can order for you. They appear to be big on MTG, and that's what the gamers in the back were plying the day I was in. The owner seemed like a nice guy and introduced himself to me and we discussed gaming and they ordered a hard-to-find game for me. Yes, I could buy it online for about the same price, but I'd rather patronize local B&M shops like this. As shortcomings go - I think the store is too diverse, trying to do comics, video games, SF\Fantasy books, board and card games. It doesn't excel in any of these areas - board and card games being the front runner, here. On the other hand, as they grow and increase inventory (which they have room to do), they could become a fantastic one-stop shop for all things geek. I've had the pleasure of meeting Eli and Brennan (the owners) as well as Cale and Anthony since the store opened. If you're looking for a family friendly and safe gaming environment, you won't find a better spot in/near the Keller area. I've read a number of negative review here and to be honest, they don't reflect the truth of this business, or it's owners. They have a great magic community with a number of solid events every week. They also cater to other games (such as 40k/Fantasy, Pathfinder, DnD and casual board games.) If they don't currently have a community for a game you play, the owners and staff will literally bend over backwards to try and help create one. Never once have I entered the store without being greeted within a few moments. They have an awesome and vast selection of games (both board and card games) as well as some nice sci fi collectables and other odds and ends. The comic selection is very decent for a store it's size and age and most of the staff are very knowledgeable in multiple areas, and if they aren't they will tell you what they do know. They also are one of the few stores that keep directly in contact with their communities via Facebook. I see several posts every week when they have lone players looking for games and they work their followers to try and get games going for their customers. No other store in DFW does this. They do weekly updates on new comics via a video blog which is just awesome! Anyone on here that says they are rude or impersonable doesn't know what they are talking about. You won't find a better place in Fort Worth to get your game on or your comic fix. I frequent a number of comic/game stores in the DFW area and I'm proud to call this location one of my go to spots for family fun. read more

Finally!!! An awesome experience at Sci Fi! The comic manager was amazing. I don't come often so my pull list isn't right most of the time, but the guy took ownership. That's all I wanted and we fixed it. I browsed some old ones, got some on sale, and found a few new titles. This is exactly why I don't give up on my brick and mortar comic shops!!! Loved that guy!! I used to frequent this store often, but today was the last time I will probably ever visit again. Upon entering, the smell of funk and smegma hit you right in the face. Usually it is somewhat bearable, but today it was egregious. The large amount of people gaming, the sheer amount of clutter, and terrible disorganization in the comic section is unacceptable. The wall showcasing new comics has them strewn about and they are stacked haphazardly. There is little to no organization at all. To get to the comics in the back you have to step over stacks of chairs and wade around boxes that block your way. Comic book pricing itself is outrageous. You can dig for a while and when you finally find a stack, the staff has to price it out because they are too lazy/too unorganized to work on pricing their back issues in advance. I'm not going to do their work for them and dig up gems only so they can gouge me like they have tried before. When they price it, it's always marked 15-20% higher than eBay. I'd rather sit at home and buy issues off the internet. The owner is cool, but severely lacking on maintaining a clean and organized store. Stay away if you're a serious comic collector. You'll just be spinning your wheels. read more

Why is this place even called Sci Fi Factory? It should be called "Magic Factory". Because that is ALL it is about. Sure, they have comic books, games, and books to sell. But no one cares. All that is ever happening there is Magic card games. The only cards they sell singles of are guess what: Magic. They sell some booster packs of Yu-Gi-Oh and a few others but they are very small trading packs about 3 cards per pack and very few amount of said items. Plenty of crap load of Magic cards though. There are tables set up and they get in the way. You can't get to the wall that has paints, paint brushes for miniatures without tripping on people's phone cords (yeah, they let you charge your phone in the store and your laptops...which have cords ALL OVER the place). They have one or two nights to board games and variations of DND, but guess what happens mostly? Magic card nights. If you look at their facebook, all they talk about is "hey, so and so wants a Magic fight!" They have one day when you can play Pokemon for about two hours I think and Saturday for YGO at 12-4. First off, noon on a Saturday? Seriously? People are still asleep by then. And that's when the tournament's start. There should be a YuGiOh night like there's a Friday night magic. These guys have serious potential. But they are way too fixated on Magic. They need to have deals on their games (which are pretty much Gamestop's price, or a few dollars more. Why bother?) and movies. They show variety, but they do not even try with it. It's like "Yeah, we have all these things. But they're mostly here for show. Kthx. Magic anyone?" Lonestar is further away...but better than this place. I even signed up to this site just to give this review. That's something sad. read more

While it's true, they are a bit unorthodox in the way they sell their new comics, the staff is very friendly, helpful, and passionate about their products. The owner is a great guy who will talk comics with you all day. And the other folks up there are equally helpful. Don't shy away from going there for new comics, just have them set you up a pull list and they will have your books waiting for you when you get there. Great selection, and you can trade video games, comics etc for store credit. I traded in an old PS3 game and got a great amount in trade, which I turned in to new comics. Can't beat that. If you have been here before and never been back, give them another try. read more

I'm a fan of Sci Fi Factory not only for the close location and good selection near my home, but also because they work hard at building a community in and outside the store. They're always open to suggestions for games and go out of their way to welcome folks who are looking to play. As a comic fan, I'm stunned by the amount of back issues they've got on hand for such a young shop. However, searching through the comics for either new or old issues is a chore due to the way they're stored. Also, I think a few other reviews here aren't quite looking at the big picture, which is a shop that's clean, brightly lit, and safe to bring your kids to. It's a fun place, especially if you get to know the other folks in the community. read more

My son was visiting from college xmas break and played in the weekly MTG tourney. He had a great time, but had to play against a guy who was clearly drunk (he's now barred from the store). The owners were very apologetic and the following week while we were there playing X-wing they gave my son two more X-wing ships and again apologized for the previous week. This is my go to place for cool gifts for my gaming family members. I love that it is a family owned business and right in my neighborhood. They were amazing for a little boy in our community with a brain tumor. They dressed up like Star wars characters for a room makeover. Great company with huge hearts! Highly recommend!!! read more

I had a fantastic experience today at the Sci Fi Factory. I was so impressed with the level of service I recieved. The store was filled with the stuff I love - lots and lots of games. I was thrilled to see that it was all different kinds of gaming. I'm an avid tabletop gamer and this store was packed with fun stuff. I asked about Magic The Gathering because it's one of the few games I hadn't played. They were all too happy to show me what I needed to get started. I feel like they really wanted more than just money. They really made me feel welcome and part of their community. If you love RPG gaming, Sci Fi Factory is your destination. This store and staff are truly the gem of Dallas/Fort Worth Gaming. I will be back for sure. read more

An excellent gaming store. comic books are for queers anyways!

I have been going to this store for about 3 months now, ever since my last local gaming store closed down. The FNM's always have a lively amount of people who know each other, which is not really the case for the drafts some of the times, which is understandable. There is a very large collection of Funko Pops which I appreciate. Their prices are average, but, for me at least, that is besides the point. The staff in very friendly and have given me free Magic the Gathering cards on multiple occasions, which one I received a whole booster box of commons and un-commons. One last plus for this store is that you always win at least one booster pack for playing in FNM, which you can always trade in for $3 store credit. I consider that a steal! All-in-all I would consider this game store a home-run in terms of Magic the Gathering players, and/or Funko Pop collectors. read more
