Himalayak is located at a very central location in Altstadt, Bonn. Honestly speaking, I was not…read moreexpecting this small restaurant to be that good. The atmosphere in the garden was superb, so was the service. The waiter, who spoke impeccable English (unlike me), was so friendly and kind at all times. As for the food, the bread sticks and sauces served along with them (a chili one and a creamy, feta-based one) as pre-starters tasted really good. Samosas were fine, but they'd taste better with less potato filling, I guess. Pakoras were top-notch-I'd say they were the tastiest pakoras I have ever had in Bonn so far. Mango chutney served along with the starters also tasted great. Langsha Momo I had, consisting of nine boiled dumplings filled with beef and Tse Pale I had, consisting of six fried dumplings filled with spinach and feta tasted so good. Even though the sauce served along with the dumplings was cilantro-based, it tasted super. Oh, by the way, everything served here somehow contains onion and garlic-beware if you are overly cautious. :) Considering all these, I would say that Himalayak is a perfect place to have Indian/Nepalese food in Bonn. I strongly recommend the place for the inhabitants of Bonn and visitors all around the world-I am sure you will not regret! :)

While the Momo filling was very good, I felt the flour pastry around it was too thick. The sauces tasted fantastic and authentic. The samosas were perfect. Definitely would go again.

Others have commented on this as well but it's centrally located in Bonn and close to all of the shops. You can visit Beethoven's childhood home (now a museum) if you're up for a 10 minute walk. Just ask anyone at the restaurant where it is and they will tell you. If I'm ever back in Bonn I'd definitely go back if given the chance. This place is the epitome of A-OK.

I am a burger conservative-even a burger bigot-so I don't know whether it is a good thing that they have a large selection of burgers, ranging from classic burgers with cheddar cheese to internationally-inspired (and I guess experimental) burgers such as burgers with chorizo and dates; nachos, guacamole and salsa; or shrimps and pineapple. As the side dishes, you choose among pommes, curly fries or potato wedges. Especially curly fries are strongly recommended. Herr Lehmann has two serious problems in my opinion. The first one is that it is really difficult to enjoy the taste of the patty as other condiments and sauces dominate the taste. Take the burger "Der Platzhirsch" I had once, for instance. Due to the tangy BBQ sauce, the onions and bacon, I could not really enjoy the taste of an obviously juicy, delicious and properly medium cooked patty. Even basic burgers such as "Herr Lehmanns Cheddar" have the same problem. Burgers taste good, no discussion about it, but I am sure customers would be happier if they can enjoy the taste of the patty-the backbone of a good burger. The other problem is about their buns. Neither ciabatta nor dinkel buns are suitable for burgers I guess. Especially ciabatta bun is so crusty that the patty slides off the bun, leaving you eating the patty, bun and other condiments separately with knife and fork. To quote a view on the best burger bun: "The ideal soft burger bun should be pillowy, squishy, and tender, with a tight but soft crumb and a distinct sweetness. It should hold up nicely to the burger's juices, but should never be tough or cottony. On the opposite end of the spectrum, you don't want a burger that disintegrates half way through your meal." I 100% concur with what's said above. Unfortunately buns at Herr Lehmann are not meeting these standards. It was a huge disappointment for me. Overall, despite its drawbacks, Herr Lehmann might be one of the best places to have gourmet burgers in such a nice atmosphere. With a few minor changes, there is no reason why it cannot be the best burger restaurant in town and a mecca for real burger lovers.

We sat outside and the buildings in the neighbourhood were quite beautiful so it was a pleasant sight for the eyes. The menu is modern European with a bit of French and Mediterranean influence. I had the sashimi for starter which came on a bed of asparagus and strawberry salad, and it was delicious. My fish main was also well prepared and tasty but the portion was a bit small for my liking. Value for money is a little slim here. My dessert was also ok, but I must admit, slightly below my expectation. The service was a bit slow and the waiter who was alone did ignore us for a while. He was also not too friendly but did eventually sort us out after a bit of waiting. I would come back here again albeit that it's slightly expensive for what it is. Al fresco dining here is quite nice and the buildings on the street are amazing. Parking is a nightmare if you are driving.
