Walking into this facility, I was immediately greeted and helped by Chris. All staff members were really kind and welcoming. I was called in 30 minutes after my appointment time. The lady who called me in apologized for the wait, I appreciate a person who values others time. Although, I had to wait I appreciate the apologies, I understand it happens. I was seen by Brittney, she diagnosed me within 5 minutes and told me ill be fine its not like im going to die like ok... doesnt make me feel any less overwhelmed lol I was happy to get my medication, so i brushed her off. Things happen fast here. Assembly line fast. This review is not about the procedure itself or skill of the doctor. That review will come later. This review is more about the inability to get in touch with them after my surgery. I had a cancerous chest mole removed. Maybe 15 stitches? A few hours later I notice I'm bleeding like a stuck pig. Blood running down my chest into my shorts. Doing nothing strenuous. I'm in my car and all I have are fast food napkins for direct compression to stop the bleeding. I'm panicking ,can't find my handout, so I call the Freehold office. On hold for 6 minutes. Hang up and call again. On hold for another 6 minutes . Hang up and try a third time. On hold for 8 minutes this time. My only option is to drive to Freehold hospital. $125 out of pocket co-pay. Thanks Schweiger. I should have been back at Schweiger instead of the ER. I was seen right away because I looked like a stabbing victim. They rebandaged me and taped up the incision tighter. I of course cancelled my 2 week follow-up with Schweiger where they were going to remove the stiches and also excise a small cyst. I found a plastic surgeon to take out my stitches. I might have him re-do the incision, if possible, as it still weeps 3 weeks later. I finally did get a call from Schweiger today, 3 weeks to the day after my procedure. Not to see how I was doing, but to left me know the surrounding tissue was benign. Thankful for that. But really, no call before that? Maybe I'd recommended Schweiger to treat a rash or something but not for anything serious. So hard to find a dermatologist these days. They either get snatched up by the big assembly line groups or incomprehensively don't ever take new patients. read more

I had the most excruciating pain on my hands due to a skin issue that suddenly surfaced a month ago. I was told to see a dermatologist and unfortunately scheduled here. My parents have been patients for years with no issue but after my recent experience, I will not be returning to this practice. Upon seeing Brittany Mallardi ,she took one look at my hands, and through tears I asked her what could be done , she looked me in the eyes and said "oh sweetie, what could we do" not only was this condescending, but it offered zero help with my current issue. I pressed multiple times, insisting there was a deeper issue they were not seeing. I was prescribed anti-infection cream, for an infection I did not in fact have. I found myself at the walk-in medical the next morning and upon seeing a real doctor, they confirmed my suspicions were true. I have been using Apostrophe for years for my dermatology needs, but decided to try Schweiger Dermatology in Philadelphia to try something new. The appointment was utterly unhelpful and the the doctor ended up recommending products from Sephora which would not be covered by insurance nor are clinical strength. I think there are more effective dermatology options out there that offer tailored treatments. I have to agree with the other reviews which is that they will relentlessly follow-up for payment but will not follow up once to see how you are doing and or if you need any help with medications, and their first office visit is a $250 fee and adds 0 value. read more

I was seen by Dr. Yi Lai MD - I have been going to this group for many years. He did my yearly skin check and he was very thorough- he found a suspicious area and had it biopsied - I never would have thought anything about that particular spot but, I had to have surgery to remove it - it was basil cell carcinoma and I am so GREATFUL he found it! Tiffany called to see how I was after the surgery, and I found that having that extra care by getting this call was important. That was great patient care. They answered all my questions and provided sensible and logical treatment. They did Not Push in-house products, and in one case suggested an OTC item. I came upon Schweiger Dermatology through the Derm Group which merged with them. The office is very clean and well-lit, plenty of seating in the waiting area. The staff is warm and welcoming. They say hello and bring you to the check-in desk immediately. The check-in is very brief and simple. My treatment was handled by Brittany Mallardi, a very pleasant, young PA. She's very pleasant, great bedside manner and very thorough with her examination. I had gone in because of a couple of concerns I had. Those turned out not to be a problem, but thanks to her skills, she did locate a mark on my skin that turned out to be precancerous. She numbed the skin very well and took a biopsy. I had no pain at all, not even minor discomfort. The biopsy showed something which required further treatment. Once again, Mallardi numbed the skin and excised the skin growth. Once again, I experienced no pain, even with the 4 stitches I required. When she was done, she gave a very clear explanation of what was happening. She put my mind completely at ease and I was on my way. I know a good number of people worry about the possible pain one can have after this minor surgery, but rest assured that my case was handled very well. I had no pain at all. I'm very confident in Brittany Mallardi's expertise, and I believe you will too. read more

This people are terrible. I've been dealing with them for about two years, getting my medication has been a nightmare. Between appointments, dealing with their phone customer service people, and actually scheduling an appointment ( I had to go way outside my area to get an appointment) Its been a terrible experience. I wouldn't recommend this office, or the chain of offices to anybody. As soon as I find a suitable replacement I will be taking my business elsewhere. Edit: I don't know why it says I'm located in San Francisco. Want to clarify I am in S. Jersey and have visited the Freehold office (virtual and in-person) and I would not recommend this company. They don't submit paperwork when they say they will and their phone operators are rude and in my experience don't know anything. Can't wait to get my medication and be done with this place. Freehold/Toms River office is terrible had negative experience after negative experience speaking to the office on the phone. Maybe I just keep getting unlucky with who is calling me bc I don't remember feeling so strongly during my office visits. I got an infection from "it's just a mole" freeze Doctor Picascia froze it without warning Saw me for 3 minutes and moved on to the next patient -- just a number to him Asked him a couple of general questions--- his answers were to go see Sharon ... and then you had to make another appt to see Sharon -- so they can bill you again - the whole office was so rude even the receptionist could not answer a single question about the forms they gave you to sign ... they should at least familiarize themselves about the info they want from you Worst medical experience ever!! This place is like an urgent care without the urgent for dermatology. They see many patients in a day to make more money, but they forgo real patient assessment, evaluation, and treatment. Hiring young NPs and PAs without real experience is not the move a business should make. I do not like talking bad about my fellow healthcare workers since I am also a nurse. However, I know for a fact I have a chalazion on my eye, and they prescribed me antibiotics which research has shown to be proven ineffective. I was also prescribed topical antibiotics for cysts on my body which have been present for YEARS. How is a topical antibiotic going to treat a long term cyst? I would not recommend coming here unless you know for a fact that antibiotics will treat your acute infection. read more

What a waste of time. Didn't even get a doctor, put a PA. Then they want communication through text messages when I was trying to sort out an issue with meds. To top it off, my follow up appt was canceled and rescheduled for weeks later. Was supposed to have a treatment today per the woman who rescheduled the appt. Now they say pre-approval was necessary. I'm not really sure what to rate this. I have no complaints about the office or it's employees. In fact they are all very warm, caring and friendly individuals! However, I had a cyst removed, and I'm not sure how many times she's numbed it, but I felt some of the stitching up part. Where the needle went in. About a week afterwards, as I was taking the dressing off to change it, I noticed it was really red. I had called Friday evening and requested a call back in regards to my incision site being possibly infected. I didn't get a call back until that Monday afternoon, and only after I called them twice already that morning. You would think infections they'd treat as a priority, but I dunno. Maybe they don't. Before I went back in, I went to a clinic dr who told me that it was in fact infected, and prescribed me some antibiotic cream, and after a couple days of using it, it calmed down and turned to more of a softer pinkish color. I went back to schweiger, and she told me it was not infected and that "though it sounds weird, (she's) seen worse." At that time, it was still red, as well as me showing her pictures of when it was really bad. Told me to continue taking the cream and sent me on my way. Came back to get my stitches removed, I was the only one left in the waiting room. After about 20 mins or so, the front desk woman asked me my name. Another several minutes pass and someone finally comes to grab me and mentions that everyone had left and must've forgotten I was there. Moving on- get my stitches removed, and it looks they just cut chunks of my skin off. So even with being extremely friendly, I would never go here again. I feel like they just butchered my arm & could've done this a lot nicer/cleaner. I've had surgeries in the past- I have a plate in my neck and a full back fusion, and never seen incision/stitch work like this with those. read more

There was not a moment in my experience that I can say was less than perfect. I brought my 4 year old to the beautifully and festively decorated office where I was greeted by very welcoming employees. Not only were they friendly, but very accommodating. I didn't know I was supposed to have a referral from my pediatrician, and even though it was my fault, they took the time to contact my pediatrician's office and provide all necessary information to send over a referral immediately so I would not have to come back another time. Once we got into the examination room, we were greeted by all types of employees from medical assistants to office managers who made sure our time spent there was pure quality. When the Dr came in, he went above and beyond to make my 4 year old feel comfortable. He was fun and friendly and silly and I found him explaining things to me in a way she could understand instead of speaking to me as if she wasn't there. After our appointment was complete, my daughter was given a treat and a toy and she skipped merrily out of the office. To say I recommend this facility is an understatement. read more

I wish I read all of these horrible complaints and reviews on BBB after going to Schweiger dermatology group located 4 Paragon Way Suite 300, in freehold NJ. On June 9th I sent My fiancé to this location Edward Madej jr went in for a specialist opinion on removing moles on his back to check for skin cancer. He saw Jennifer Edwards as it's listed on this bill we keep getting. They charged $200 for the visit was told none were cancerous and there was no procedure or biopsy done anywhere on his body she and her interns just looked. He was charged $200 he paid for on my CareCredit card with the office before leaving that day. A month later They sent a bill for $250?? More than the office charged!! Nothing was done no procedure just a consultation. The call service is of no help as I keep receiving a $250 bill out of "patient bill processing center P.O. Box 5257 New York NY 10008" they spelled the last name wrong entered it as "Made Jr". REMOVE THIS FRAUDULENT BILL I HAVE PAID IN FULL!!!! I am going to report this company for fraud. I suggest anyone who goes here to check what they charged ur insurance company as they seem to be committing insurance fraud by double charging people!!! read more

The doctors and office staff in Freehold are phenomenal. When my private dermatologist joined this group I hoped things would be the same. Dr Hametz still takes time with you and the office staff is great. However the Schweiger group is a horror show. Their call center is rude and condescending, results of a biopsy that used to take 5 to 7 days now takes weeks. If it weren't for Dr. Hametz I would stay PA where I live to see a doctor. read more

Sorry, I didn't go through all the reviews before my very first visit here. The office visit was abrupt with little opportunity to ask questions. I was told they would need to charge a credit card if my insurance did not cover the bill but that I would be informed before that would happen. The charge went through on the day of my visit but I was never told. Interesting procedure !! I had to call the billing office to request reimbursement since the insurance company had already covered the expense. A call to the office manager was unanswered and never returned. An e-mail expressing my concerns yielded no response. Stay away. There have got to be better, more efficient, more ethical practices elsewhere. read more

I have been a patient at Schweiger Dermatology dating back to when the practice was privately owned by Dr. Hametz and Dr. Picascia and were located on Schanck Road in Freehold. I have always found that the doctors are excellent diagnosticians, providing the highest standard of care. But what makes this office stand apart from so many other doctor's offices is the manner in which I am treated as a person. One might expect this from the doctors, as we so often talk about bedside manner. But what I find to be so extraordinary is that every member of the staff goes above and beyond to make patients feel comfortable. Doctors and staff never seem so busy that they can't take that extra moment to ask how I am doing, how my family is doing. This office is beautiful. It is located in Freehold and very easy to get to. Getting there is no problem. The office is large and modern. Additionally, Schweiger accepts our insurance. Over the nearly 40 years that I have been seeing Dr. Hametz, I have recommended him to many people. They all appreciate his abilities coupled with the fact that he is extremely kind and caring. Dr. Hametz is a fantastic dermatologist and I would happily follow him regardless of where he practiced.
