Espresso martini. Shaken. Not stirred.

Expensive, but quite an experience. Came in here on a same-day vacation reservation on a Thursday night. The place is quite classy but they did seat us with my t-shirt/cargo pants/hiking boots.Plating was beautiful and service was tightly run. Food was good but subpar for the pricing. This is where they lose the most points with me. I expect a culinary journey for the price on the menu. What we got were good, if otherwise non-noteworthy dishes. A few of my dishes were over salted, sometimes flavors would not be well blended, and selections were oddly combined or oversold on the menu. Case in point: wagyu should have visible and fine marbling. What we got was as lean as it gets. Service was good. The food was served at a consistent and relaxed pace over the course of four hours. It wasn't quite machine-like precision that you get at some fine dining, but it was clean and non-distracting execution over the course of the meal.

This is probably my favourite Irish pub in Munich. The door into Molly's isn't just a door. It's…read morea portal to a wonderland of mirth and merriment. Molly's is packed every evening of the week, which should tell you something about a) the loving loyalty of the patrons who come here, and b) the wonderfulness of getting to spend a couple hours here. Reservations are always recommended The food is spot on, and the bangers and mash are the best in Munich. I'd recommend against the burgers, and would suggest instead going either for any one of the Irish dishes or for one of the curries. The bacon (for the burgers) should in particular be avoided because it comes out more steamed than fried and is kind of limp and chewy as a result. The breakfast is REALLY good here, and a perfect way to cure a hangover. Needless to say, the whiskey selection here is excellent. The staff is almost always really friendly and courteous, though there is one girl behind the bar there that I'd rather not be served by, if it can be avoided. Everyone else is great though, and really make you feel almost like you're just hanging out in your own living room. Actually, that's just it. Molly's is the place you go when you just want to relax and feel as comfortable as if you were in your own living room. But this living room happens to offer Guinness, food, and whiskey.

So happy I found this place…read more Located a hop, skip and a jump from Rosenheimer Platz, this place was my savior after a day at the Wiesn. Having had my fill of beer, I just wanted a glass of seltzer (or mineral water or whatever you choose to call it). Now, don't get me wrong, I love Germany but everywhere they seem to serve water in tiny glasses. I wanted a giant glass of water...and the awesome bartender set me up with a half liter glass full of sparkling water. So I had my water, which helped a lot and now I needed food. Luckily, even in my state I was able to read the menu and see they had a cheeseburger and fries platter. I know, not Bavarian but at that point, all I'd had all day since breakfast was one of these ginormous pretzels and the skin off of some roast chicken. The food was tasty (as far as I can recall) and it really helped getting some food on my tummy. Aside from the water and food, what made this place great was the service. The bartender, whose name I regret that I didn't get, was amazing. She was so nice and friendly and really took care of me. I'm sure I looked like another tipsy American tourist but she was a sweetheart. She had short hair and glasses and maybe some tattoos. Anyway, she's the real deal. There was some music that was nice too. Overall, a nice, friendly, clean and welcoming place. To be frank, it can be intimidating to enter a big German beer hall by yourself because it seems everyone knows one another and you're an outsider. Coming here was the exact opposite...I felt welcome right away. Definitely recommend this place!
