Marlou does carry a very limited selection of men's shoes, but it is by no means a men's shoe store. In short, this place is a godsend for me. I have spent my entire life dealing with too-small shoes and settling for "unisex" (i.e. men's) styles. I wear a 10-11 D-width and I have never found anything that actually fit other than flip flops and athletic shoes. I grew tired of going into shoe stores and saying "what's the largest size you offer? A 9-C? Yah, thanks..." If I did come across a pair that fit, they looked like granny shoes. At Marlou's, the biggest problem I have is trying to decide which of the 6 sweet looking pairs (that fit wonderfully) I'd like to take home with me. Marlou's offers a lot of large sizes in various widths. Lots of cool high-end European manufacturers. Don't expect to find cheap, stiff, manmade-upper Payless-type shoes. These babies have soft-as-butter leather. I have never before worn shoes that make me feel like I am walking on clouds. Ahhhh. This being said, be prepared to fork over some cash. The average price is $75 and up. They do run sales now and then. But just like one shouldn't skimp on a mattress, you shouldn't skimp on shoes. After all, look how much time you spend in them. The job they did was excellent and they did the work in one day!! For shoe repair it can easily take two weeks. Price was spot on for repair of this kind compared to west coast and Texas. They told me that for future shoes, they could build up the needed 3/4" on the whole shoe. It is great to find a business with this amount of talent.

I have a nice leather jacket that I haven't worn in years because the zipper was damaged. I found…read moreit in the back of the closet recently and decided that it was too nice to just sit and collect dust and I'd like to wear it again. Didn't really know where to take it for repair, so I started by going to a nearby tailor shop. They looked at the jacket and said they can't do it because their equipment would not be able to handle the thickness of leather. Then another customer that was in the shop chimed in and suggested that I try a leather/shoe repair shop. I called Lyndhurst luggage and they said "yes, bring it in!" I brought it in and explained what I needed done and they said come back to pick it up next Monday. Indeed, it was ready. The zipper is a little sticky, but they did say that it's because it's new and that it should loosen up with break in. Also, I thought a little pricey - $60 for zipper replacement, but I have no basis for comparison, so what do I know? All I know is that I'm so glad to be able to use this jacket again.
