It is a very scary feeling to have something happen to your home when you're away, having this job completed so quickly was a great relief. And unlike some companies around the City the price was very fair, no gouging. I highly recommend.

I got a schedued work date and requested an estimate via text with Mary Beth. I never received the estimate or an invoice. The communication was via text. A group of workers came and did the work (not including John). John mis remembered the detials of the initial walk through and had to go get more materials. I communicated clearly that I needed hardiboard. Some materials were left at our home after the job. Months later when my HOA was ready to paint my home I was informed that the material put on my home was in fact not hardiboard. I communicated this immediatlely to Mary Beth. She scheduled John to come back out to view the work with our HOA president. John said that the materials left were not from the work he did and disputed with me that the material was in fact hardiboard. I had to get Mary Beth on the phone and use my texts in order for John to admit that it was the incorrect material and they needed to remove it and redo the job. After agreeing to remove the incorrect material in exchange for hardiboard Mary Beth began making excuses about personal issues and scheduling for 2-3 months. She NEVER called me I had to keep reaching back out to them for weeks. It was not until I asked for thier liscense information to file a report with the BBB that Mary Beth informed me that they do NOT have a liscense. That communication finally opened up thier schedule and they came out to redo the work in the following days. John did not apologize or even show his face during this redo. He came and took photos and talked with the workers but never spoke to my husband or I again. Im glad we did not have to file civally to rectify the issue. I would not call this company for a large job for someone inquiring. Not at all again personally.

I paid him for the otherwise decent job he did throughout and went our separate ways. But now I'm writing this review because the main piece he hung was a very old, heavy, antique mirror. I called him to come fix it and he came over to look at it and said he would make it right and would come back after he got the parts needed. They were easy to work with and showed up on time. And they even helped install a new light fixture, which I hadn't planned on being a part of the things I wanted done, but it worked out and they got it done! With all of that going so well, we decided to hire them to assemble a fairly large garage storage system. I was beyond impressed! He put it together in such a short period of time and cleaned up everything right after. It was absolutely awesome and amazing - he did a super great job. We will continue to work with Mr. Fix It in the future.

HIRE THIS MAN. Gus saved my family from some serious potential health issues! I called him out…read morefor what was supposed to be a small job, but it quickly turned into a huge job after we found what was under neath our floors.... After reaching out to a few contractors, Gus was the only one who responded.... and FAST! We moved into a new house in December. The previous owners did A LOT of renovations. Unfortunately, some of the renovations were done poorly. I noticed in the dining room and living room the newly installed laminate floors (from previous owner) felt uneven and had a little too much bounce in them. I didnt think much about it until my newborn was delivered and I was on parental leave. Thats when I decided to call Gus to come check it out. Before lifting the floors we thought it would be a few hour job. Add some self leveler and reinstall floors. If only it was that easy. After removing floors...we immediately saw plastic under the new laminate floors...and that plastic was covering OLD laminate floors. Once we cut the plastic, we saw the disaster. ROT AND MOLD. Luckily it was isolated to just that room. So he killed all the mold and mildew by meticulously cleaning. Then he ripped up the entire wood floor that was glued down to the concrete slab. He filled all the cracks in the slab, and cleaned and scraped all glue. The next day he laid down plastic over concrete slab and began installing new floors again with some help. After laying floors, he fixed up the baseboards, installed new quarter round and new thresholds. After everything's was installed, a nice new coat of paint and he was on his way! I would recommend Gus for any job small or big. He seems very knowledgeable in all areas of home construction... as I found out as I annoyingly picked his brain out of curiosity. I have him coming out for a gutter issue very soon.

Now this timeline might not be the norm but for me it was great! I had called a half a dozen independent contractors over a period of months to look at various carpentry repairs and either got zero response or "let me get back to you when I'm less busy." Then my tenants moved out of the rental side of my house so work needed to be done ASAP. Randy was prompt and made an early morning call so I could make it to work, almost on time. He wrote up a quote. Their automated system for quotes and acceptance is a tadbit clunky but I'll take technology where I can get it. Everything was typed out and readable. The man who did the carpentry was polite and meticulous! I'm sure the doors he repaired haven't looked so well in 100 years. Then the painter came in and took care of the rest. Will definitely use them again. I do think their prices might be higher than hiring an independent. But they also show up and do the work when and how they promised. So definitely worth it.
