Worst contractors ever! I paid $1215 to get repairs done to my home after getting an inspection…read morereport prior to sale. The house was supposed to close in a month, I was told all the repairs would be finished in 1 day, it took over 3 weeks, with multiple no shows. I ended up having to complete 3 out of the 11 items on the invoice myself. I also separately paid $488 to have my roof repaired, the inspector after revisiting 3 times total, told me it's worse now than before they did their work. Best of all I try to call their number to get them to come out and fix their mistakes, but it goes straight to voicemail and they never return my calls. I now have to push my closing date forward by another week and pay for competent people to come fix their shoddy work. Don't waste your time with them! Get literally anyone else before using them, you'll save yourself some money and you'll keep your blood pressure at normal levels.

I'll confirm one of the other 1 star reviews as being 100% accurate. When I initially reached out for an estimate I never got a call back with a quote. I should have taken that as a sign and took my business elsewhere. Kevin May was hired to do a job that he clearly was by NO means qualified to do. He half did the job. So many errors so many imperfections. He tried to get away with not properly doing things then when told about them he had an extremely nasty and unprofessional attitude as though this was a service that he was doing for free. He went to lowes to supposedly purchase materials. Only to later find out that he thought that it was okay to purchase chips, and drinks at my expense. Complete and total ignorance. He left trash outside of my home boxes old cabinets ect. he did not clean up after himself neither did he haul off trash from the poor job that he completed. The job remains to have many errors that he feels like I should be okay with. I attempted to report him to the better business bureau but he's not listed. I can definitely see why. Based on the quality of work or lack thereof its clear that he is by no means licensed. I'm not sure who could have given him five stars and why because he is horrible and lacks professionalism and his work is garbage. I will never in life use him if he were the last person standing and I would never recommend him to anybody. Not to mention my master bathroom needed renovations now since there was a slow leak under the house causing the tiles to move. So two major renovations in a 4 month period was pretty much a nightmare. I looked in the Better Business Bureau and saw the A+ status and the great reviews for King Cole and called them up to schedule a free estimate. He was able to come the same day and within a week, he gave me an estimate. He also gave me estimates on the incompetent construction company's mess ups as well. He completed my master bath and the mess ups from the other company in less than 3 weeks and he was very thorough. In fact, he would pop up while other jobs were going on just to ensure things were going well and going well according to his schedule, like a good project manager should. I am extremely impressed with Cole. He is organized, he knows his trade, he is trustworthy and has reasonable pricing. He does not accept credit cards but he does use the square app if you must use a cc. I plan to have him do more projects around my house, I just need to save some more money before that happens. A very nice guy named Jim came out and did some measuring, gave me some design options and came up with what I felt was a very reasonable quote for iron doors, on the spot. They came out as scheduled to install the doors. No fuss, no muss. Over the years the look of the iron doors has held up very well. I have had some of their crew come back at my request to adjust some things as settling on my house has occurred. It is both a great product and they provide great service. I have recommend them to friends many times and have been thanked in return. Then, a few months ago I got a letter from my insurance company asking me to install handrails around my front porch and stairs and without hesitation I called Security Iron Co. to get a quote. After multiple visits to my home and getting tricked into signing a contract and paying 2800 dollars for them to tarp my roof, they showed up on April 3 and DID NOT tarp the roof. They left the tarp on the side of my house for 3 weeks, it collected water, my roof continued to leak. I had to take the tarp myself and roll it up, dry it out and store it. Their legal partners kept harassing me to get my policy information even though I was telling them that my insurance carrier didn't want to give me the policy documents. Finally in May I requested to receive a refund because of how they spun me around and all the lies. They refuse to give the refund because of the contract even though they did literally 0 work. Avoid them, don't sign with them.

It started when I walked in the house while the subfloor was being installed and found that the crew had installed undersized floor joists. I had to ask that they redo the work correctly. We ran into similar issues down the road with poor framing and terrible communication from the project manager. I, in essence, became the project manager making sure that their subs came back to do the work they needed to do (and do it correctly) while paying Riverbend to do it. I hired Riverbend to GC this job and they essentially just let their subs run the job - no quality control whatsoever. If their subs cut corners, they don't do anything about it. I was forced re-do large portions of the house framing because the drywall couldn't be put on. We are currently in process of the job and Scott and Brian stopped communicating once I told them I'd like compensation for the reframing I had to do.. It's pretty disappointing.. If you understand elements of construction and are willing to double check their work, Riverbend might be for you. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend working with them. Updated: Scott, you're account of history is inaccurate and highly misleading. I hired Riverbend to handle all of the upfront work minus permits and material sourcing. Our agreement was that Riverbend would complete the rough in, electrical, and structural work and I would obtain the permit and order materials. It's also strange to me that you are recounting history when you weren't involved through most of the renovation. Below is a response to each point you listed below. 1) Scope: RB was hired to compete the structural, electrical and plumbing up to rough in. I told you that I wouldn't have time to manage the front-end work. I did not change the scope at all with the exception of adding a few lights here or there once we saw the lighting situation with the installed windows. In fact, Brian was trying to expand the scope throughout the project. Offering additional (extremely costly and unnecessary) repairs throughout the project. At one point, he recommended that we remove all of the siding on the left side of the house to repair a bow in the wall which wasn't even the correct approach - the bow had to do with the foundation/sill. I had this repaired correctly for 1/10th the price. Then, once we got to the plumbing work, your plumber doubled the rate and I was forced to move very quickly to find a new plumber. I had no issues with the electrician's work, so let's set the record straight on that. 2) At no point did anyone from your team tell me that there were any defects with the materials. If they had, I would have ordered different material. I ordered the #2 stud grade pine from a reputable lumber mill and given the amount of wood, it came in bundles. If your crew saw defects while unpacking, we could have returned and replaced the material, but again, not a single issue was raised. Also, I'm not sure why you believe there were many discussions about anything. Brian and I had a few discussions about the work but there was limited communication throughout the project. I would get very last-minute requests for material or something to be done before an inspection that I would need to react quickly to. It seemed like there was little forward thought about coordinating the project to make it move smoothly. 3) Work that exceeded code requirements: What are you referring to here? Was this related to fixing the hallway which was poorly framed and too narrow in order to meet the 36" hallway width minimum? If you can clarify that would be helpful. 4) Workmanship: It's easy to blame issues on material I suppose but I've shared some pictures to show what I saw and sent to you and Brian to repair. The pictures don't show the dimensions of these walls which were also not correct in many locations. For example, both smaller bedroom closets were not square or plumb. It would have been impossible to install a closet door and have it look correct. I had to tear them out entirely and reframe. The entire hallway wasn't square, plumb or the correct width. It narrowed from the front to back to a point where it fell below hallway minimum width. I had to reframe the entire hallway. Brian came and saw the issues and said the crew would come back and fix it. They came and did almost nothing to fix it. I've included pictures so you and everyone can see what I was dealing with.
