The first technician who came out said the overhead wire run to my house was too long and I was later told that Xfinity doesn't offer service in my area. That simply isn't true--my parents live directly across the street and have Xfinity internet. The bigger issue is that I already have underground conduit installed from the utility pole to my house. All that needs to be done is pull the cable through the conduit. I can understand missing that the first time, but after I explained this multiple times to employees at the Xfinity store, that information was never properly communicated to the field crews. Over the past eight months, I've visited the Xfinity store five separate times and made countless phone calls trying to get this resolved. My installation ticket has been opened and closed three or four times, yet every time I have to start over because the information about my property isn't being passed along correctly. It's been an endless cycle of misinformation and poor communication between the store, customer service, and the field technicians. The most frustrating part is that I've been ready for installation since January. The infrastructure on my property is already in place, but because of repeated communication failures within Xfinity, I still don't have internet service after eight months. I expected much better coordination and customer service than this.

There may be an effort by the staff to be relatable to older customers, but it's jarring to walk in and be faced with a 20-25 minute wait for service regarding your phone, internet, cable box, security system, etc. When a company says they are simplifying service, be prepared for a complicated, confusing solution. Our cable box for the main television died around 11:30 pm. We followed the directions on the tv screen, called the customer service number, then we got to spend almost 2 hours on the telephone with AI and then a live human rep who we were unable to understand clearly. We were told the HDMI cable was bad...but we knew the box was the problem. We tried a replacement HDMI cable on the box; box wouldn't turn on. We put the original HDMI cable on another tv, it worked. The problem was the box; so the rep said to return box the next day to store and have it swapped out. This call ended about 1:30+am in the morning. The next day, I arrived at the store and the place was full of people. The young man at the door informed me that I had at least a 20-25 minute wait. Dutifully, I took my place in line and waited. Eventually, my name was called and I had to explain my issue again. The employee informed me that if I had a smart tv, I didn't need a box. I advised him that my tv is a dumb tv and needs a box. Within 5 minutes, I had another box and was relieved to be out the door. I do feel traumatized by the whole process.
