With that said, I am a happy patron of this particular store and always go there first if I need something. When you get there it doesn't seem like they are definitely going to have what you specifically need because it's in such a small space (compared to say Home Depot is Lowe's) but they do such an excellent job of curating their stock that I have never not found what I was looking for. I don't even know how they do it but it's really impressive. When I'm shopping for something I am really adverse to employees approaching me (I fall for an up sell really easily so it just makes me anxious). The staff here though are always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. It has the feel of a neighborhood mom and pop type of store and I attribute most of that to the staff. It's clear that everyone there actually wants to be there and it makes for a great experience. The only negative is that the Ace Rewards is one of the most useless rewards program I have ever encountered but that's not up for to the store so I'm not holding it against them. Getting a five dollar coupon for a specific item I'm never going to need if I spend a hundred bucks is kind of silly though. The worst customer service I have ever received has consistently been at Home Depot and Lowe's. Between waiting for a couple employees to finish their conversations when I need help to asking where something is and getting an "I dunno" it makes me really happy to have an option where I am positive that will never happen. If you need something for home improvement go there first. Even if it's not the closest, it's worth it for the great shopping experience.

I showed up at 6:45pm to pick up my order that was allegedly ready and waiting for me at 22 Summer Street. I was told that paint is only ever at the 12 Summer Street location and that the location closed at 5pm. Not great. I specifically chose 22 Summer Street since it closed at 7pm. I'm not sure why it would pop up as an option unless there was a prior assumption/agreement made with/by Benjamin Moore that this company isn't honoring. Either way, I will place my order at other locations to ensure that I no longer make unnecessary trips.

The owner was attentive and gave me the time to address what my problems were..did I need a curb or a skirt, a rail? A ledge?? As hardware goes, it was a unique opportunity. We selected a ledge and she found the screws and drill bits I needed to set it all in place... I needed #8*1/2 wood screws and I didn't need to go digging around looking for them myself and the 5/32" drill bit only cost 2.80. In fact, when I was walking in, a customer came out with a window pane cut with 5 tulip shaped pieces of glass in an antique window!! That's fuckin' brilliant! I wish I lived closer. I'd shop there every day. They have drinks and snacks and paint and tools!! They're really into helping their customers.

It takes all of my free will to not take a pic of it and go to Michael's or buy it direct for half the price though. When I was in undergrad it was fun to hear here and get "the nice" supplies but the price increases just give me anxiety when I come here. Like I have to choose whether I want to be able to get a flight to NYC round trip or buy what I want there.

They were reasonably and friendly and I don't really have any negatives whatsoever. Since that job (which was in September), I've recommended Hector's to two or three different people. If you have any home improvement type stuff to do, as much as Home Depot and Loews get all the press, Hector's is my tip for your best bet.

When my husband went to pick it up he was told the sale was over and it was now the regular price! I called and said I didn't understand why I didn't get the sale price since it was them and Toro that advertised without enough stock. He call me back and said he's give it to me for $600 something. Still more than $100 more than I was quoted. The lady that was there when I went in remembered me and the situation but referred me to the owner.
