When I first placed a review it was under Total Relocation movers. The numbers are the same. I want to say that it is United Van Lines. They move small to world wide moves. Spencer was our first contact. He came to my elderly parent's home and made the estimate and plan so easy. Our contact was Teri, and she answered all our questions beautifully. Our original move date was on MLK day, and our last contact before the move was late Friday. Our mother fell and broke her leg and I needed to stop the movers from coming. Thank goodness that Spencer checks his email, as I was able to get a hold of him and stop it all. Teri was super kind to leave a voicemail wishing my mom the best. We were then able to reschedule a new move date with them, and James, Isaac, and Devon did an efficient job of moving them out and then in the new place. Outstanding service!!! read more

This company took advantage of an elderly lady who clearly has trouble walking and requires a cane. They treated her atrociously, creating a disaster move that we are still trying to sort out after 2.5 years. Don't do business with a company whose own employee (Troy) called their work "asinine" and "a shoddy job at best." Troy told me (audio file of conversation at https://sabercathost.com/i35G), when someone contracts this company to move a home, their movers keep things from one room together with other things from that room, and that things that were taken apart from a room would be moved to the corresponding room and reassembled in the corresponding room in the destination. Moreover, there would be one parts box that would contain all the parts, and which would be clearly labeled. Additionally, Troy and colleague Randy said that original boxes would be used to pack things if they're available. The reality is a lot of the above didn't happened. Some of the packers left early, so things weren't completely packed when the movers showed up with the truck, which made the movers angry. Boxes were mislabeled, things from different rooms were mixed and packed together, and electronics weren't placed in their original boxes, boxes which were moved emptied and still charged for by Schroeder. Some boxes were clearly damaged in the storage unit that this company loaded things into before bringing them to her new house. I have pictures (attached to review) and video of things placed poorly in the storage unit: things marked fragile have a giant wooden bookcase placed on top of them, couches placed on top of boxes instead of the other way around, the cosmetic front-facing portions of wood furniture placed face-down on concrete, crushed Schroeder boxes that this company packed, my desk with cam and castor holes ripped through the side, stuff stacked at angles such that it is balancing on top of other items, etc. Upon unloading at my mother's new house, lots of furniture wasn't put back together, many things are missing, many things are damaged, and piles of boxes and furniture weren't placed in their respective rooms. Instead, the movers told my mother at the end of the day that they weren't moving anything else into the house, that they were just going to leave them in the garage, and they just loaded them haphazardly into the garage, effectively filling it and making it unusable. My mother needed the stuff taken apart, moved into the appropriate rooms of her new home, and set back up. They piled them into the garage taller than my mother and the boxes were heavier than she could lift. She hired this company to move her items because she couldn't do this herself. I (an able-bodied man in his early thirties) spent 2 weeks at my mother's over the holidays, the first two weeks I had been in the US since she got her new house, and I couldn't even get my bedroom organized and setup. There wasn't a clearly labeled hardware box my room but a wadded up piece of paper labled hardware that only 4 bolts of the entertainment stand were wrapped in, which is not enough to set up the entertainment stand. I had to dig out my dresser from the garage and carry-it up the stairs myself. My desk, still in pieces scattered throughout the house, will never be usable again even if brought together in the same room. That this company didn't do what it was hired to do and instead left an old lady living among piles of furniture pieces and misplaced boxes she couldn't move is unconscionable. When shown pictures (attached) of these issues, Troy described the packing as "asinine" (audio at 30:55) and said this move "was a shoddy job at best...gross negligence" (audio at 37:30). After returning to Germany, I got the run-around via e-mail and phone with different employees before I finally spoke to Michael Schroeder himself. He said they would come and unpack and set things up, if we paid more money. Also, they wouldn't cover anything that was damaged. They want us to pay again for what we already paid for?!? read more

I had an in-state move in June 2020 with pick up on one day and delivery on the next day. The movers were very polite and professional. I had four movers for pick up and two for delivery. They explained what they would be doing and told me my options for things like checking off the numbered boxes (prior movers had not given me options before). Do not give any business to this company. They rescheduled a pickup 3 different times on us and lied to us regarding driver arrival time. No communication and extremely disorganized company. Our driver said that he broke down, but found out that he was never in our state and had his licensed suspended due to a failed physical test. I warn you, do not even bother with this company!! They assured me they would be careful and the driver implied I was paranoid because I kept asking how well they would protect my items. When delivered, the gas grill stainless cover was dented, 2 wooden loudspeaker cases were smashed, my dining room table legs were broken and there was damage to the door frames of my new house, The estimator had told me I had 90 days to file a claim but when I recently went on line to do that it turns out it was only 60 days so the window to do this was past. Every time I spoke with the estimator Mike Smith I was given a different story; he came to my house and quoted one price but when he sent the formal paperwork it was much higher, and talking to him became a drag because he never kept to his story. I would never recommend them. Check all they tell you and double check again before you sign anything. Also expect that your items and probably home will be damaged and do your due diligence to pursue your claims, and do NOT believe anything they tell you verbally. read more

WORST MOVING EXPERIENCE EVER!! I recently enlisted Schroeder moving for my move from Milwaukee to Madison, WI. I am somewhat familiar with the industry having worked for a couple different companies over three years. I met with a sales rep who promised me the moon, when I tried to follow up with her I could not get a hold of her. I eventually called the general support number to find out what was going on as I needed to move. The rep I met with was no longer with the company. I should have wondered why wouldn't someone else pick up her leads and call me to see if I wanted to do business with them, they clearly didn't care and this should have been my first indicator that they don't care about their clients. The move went seeminlgy well until I got to Madison. My 50" plasma TV was completely shattered. The movers were very apologetic and told me that I would be reimbursed for the damage. So we moved along to my storage unit where most of my stuff was going for the time. They unload everything we file the claim and move on. I go back to my apartment to unpack only to realize they put most of the stuff I need in my storage unit!! So I need to go out at 10pm (because the movers were slower than slow, the entire move should have taken 8 hours tops not nearly the 12 it took them) and buy new pillows, bedding, etc. Half the clothes I needed end up being packed deep in my unit as well. Anyways the icing on the cake was they charged me the full amount for my trip even though I came in under the quoted weight, because the sales reps (plural) I dealt with promised me one things and submitted a different quote. Additionally they charged me for boxes that were never used and returned to their shop. Finally I spent three weeks fighting to get the claim for my tv. The check arrived earlier this week, they offered me $108 for a tv that was valued at $1400. Unbelievable. Needless to say I will NEVER use them again for a move! read more

Horrible experience. We were quoted $1324 for the packing portion of the move and given a target delivery time of 6 days. After we moved to our new placed we were notified that no one is available to deliver our possessions for another two weeks. And the new target delivery time is the week when both my husband and I will be out of town. We notified Schroeder about this and were ignored. We were forced to contact a second moving company in order to get our possessions in a reasonable time frame. Once we received our things I realized that most of the boxes were packed half full at best - there were jumbo boxes with two bottles or wine or a lamp shade - and we were being charged for each box. This is at best dishonest and essentially theft. In addition, the glass shelves in the curio hutch were broken or missing because they were carelessly wrapped in thin sheets of paper. Meanwhile they bubble wrapped by tupperware. And to top it all off, the final bill is $1900+ even though the actual weight was nearly 100 lb lighter than estimate. Of course we called Schroeder again. This time we were told this new bill includes an extra "warehouse holding fee" and that it's my husband's fault for not overseeing the movers during the packing process. In summary, this is an unscrupulous and dishonest company. STAY AWAY. read more

The previous review from Chris G. could have been my own. I wish I had read it sooner, but it was posted the day before my belongings were picked up for a cross-country move from Wisconsin to Arizona. Guess what? It's now FEBRUARY 7th and I still don't have my belongings. We were told that the truck broke down halfway here and all of our belongings had to be re-packed onto a new truck. The new truck, however, was too small, and the rest of our items had to be shipped here. We've been blown off, had our estimated delivery date moved 3 or 4 times (I have actually lost track, it's been so many!), and worst of all, our agent has been rude throughout the entire process. Here's a hint, Debbie: a simple "sorry" or a kind email goes a really long way. Not answering our phone calls or emails because you "don't have an answer for us" is totally unacceptable. How in the world can you not track the items that YOU shipped to me?! My family (including my four year old daughter) has been left sleeping on air mattresses and without our clothes (minus what I packed in a suitcase) for nearly a month now. I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy, and Schroeder is to blame. read more

Working with Schroeder Moving has been frustrating and disappointing. We have used professional movers three times in the past 15 years, and have never experienced the problems we encountered with Schroeder. Our initial impressions were positive and led us to select them despite having read some negative reviews. We should have listened to the reviewers because once Schroeder had our business, their interest in customer service disappeared. We were originally told our furniture would be delivered to our new home between 9/25-9/28/15; however, when we were loaded, we were advised that our furniture would be taken back to Appleton, off-loaded and then reloaded when Schroeder had a driver. Our belongings did not arrive as scheduled and communication about the status of the delivery only came after we contacted them. The furniture was ultimately delivered to us on 10/2. It arrived in a Mayflower truck, headquartered in Richmond, VA. It appears our furniture was loaded and off-loaded 3 times. The people who moved us in commented that the truck had been poorly packed and it appeared our furniture had damages. When we were first loaded, we were advised to leave clothing, etc., in dresser drawers. Unfortunately, stacks of clothing inside the drawers arrived completely upside down - obviously, they had fallen out of the drawers at some point and were thrown back in. Clothing was missing. Despite damage to the furniture, there was little we could claim because the inventory was written to show that everything was damaged prior to being moved. Some of that furniture was new within the past 2 years and had never been relocated in our home after delivery from the store. Four rugs, purchased for the new house and never unrolled or stepped on, were described as "worn." In the hectic packing time, it was not possible for one of us to be with the person completing the inventory the entire time; we assumed he would provide honest descriptions, but that was not the case. We purchased replacement insurance for the move, but decisions about reimbursement fall exclusively to Schroeder. Everything was denied with the exception of a repair to a desk drawer that the delivery movers had noted. We were verbally advised by them that we had 90 days to file a claim. However, Schroeder denied everything else because we had packed/unpacked boxes ourselves and no damaged boxes were noted on the inventory at delivery. The day of delivery, it was pouring rain. The movers brought things in and stacked boxes in various rooms. Some boxes on the bottom of piles were clearly labeled "top load." Boxes were missing stickers and it was impossible to determine if all boxes were indeed delivered. The movers were soaking wet and cold, anxious to go home. There was no way that we could have gone through all the boxes when they were delivered. Some damaged things such as an artificial, fully-lighted Christmas tree and the bag it was in (described as having no damage when packed, but having puncture holes and a large tear when opened) were not discovered until the holidays (the tree's top section had one run of lights that would not illuminate) - they had been put in our home's storage room. Claims for a damaged CD player that looked as if it had been dropped or thrown and missing clothing were also denied. We have never filed a claim for damage with any other mover. Given everything that went wrong/was poorly handled by Schroeder, one would think that they would have been responsive to our concerns, but that was not the case. I am VERY pleased with our 1500 mile move with Schroeder/United from Wisconsin to New Mexico! If you can get Mel as your driver, ask for him by name! He was personable, professional, hard-working, and not on-time, but early both on pick up day and delivery day! Our packing crew and delivery crew members were also wonderful... respectful and hard working. Everything arrived at the time promised and in perfect condition and that's really what you want when all is said and done. They set things up exactly where we wanted and took great care in both the house we moved out of and in to. The ONLY complaint I have is that our in-office move coordinator never seemed to be in the office when we needed her (picking up boxes in Appleton and just before our move when I had questions). Others tried to help me out but I felt a bit abandoned by my office coordinator. I hope I never have to move again, but I would not hesitate to use Schroeder. read more
