All our dinners were excellent along with great pricing! This will be our weekly dining out. Would give 10 stars if possible!

I wanted a really nice dinner of pasta & had heard nice things about this "hidden gem." Stuck in a…read morehotel while my kitchen is being renovated, I decided to order dinner. This triple pasta dinner was to include Penne a la vodka, pasta alfredo, & a pomodoro? The alfredo was flavorless, undercooked farfelle with a milky sauce - no flavor, not thick with milk, butter or parmesan cheese, or even a touch of fresh parsley,...then TWO red penne dishes, side by side. First, the penne vodka tasted of no shallots or garlic- bland & again, undercooked. And, next to the pomodoro? No taste. Didn't they have any other pastas? Why use TWO penne's & why place them side by side? The portion was ridiculously huge! It was delivered in a 9x12 aluminum baking tray. No flatware, no napkin, no roll (They send a 5" personal pizza instead?!), no receipt. And the worst part? Yelp said they were open until 9:30, but when trying to call to complain, there was no answer, but I was asked to put in a remote code. I wanted a credit. Perhaps I can reheat some of the food with some spices & herbs & make something edible with the visually unappealing & 3 woefully tasteless, undercooked pasta dishes. What a waste of money. What a shame since this restaurant has a good reputation for many years. Perhaps the chef had the night off? Or perhaps they have strayed & lost their passion for cooking. P.S. I called the next day & spoke to the manager (said he was)... his basic answer was 'that's the way we serve it' & 'maybe you should come in & try it in the restaurant since it's different when delivered.' I said that I wasn't interested in paying for the same dish again - he offered nothing! I confirmed with 'so that's your answer?...you have nothing to offer?' Okay. My answer? - I won't be back.

I like restaurants that allow you to see the food being prepped. No hanky panky! This is a BYOB and we actually came prepared this time with a really nice red. We were promptly served fresh bread with olive oil, and approached by a very pleasant & smiling waitress. She went over the specials and left us to check over the menu. My wife is a big fan of Bronzino and the had that on the menu. I ordered a pasta dish. The food and the service were wonderful. Everything was delicious and the service impeccable. We topped off with a wonderful dessert that capped off a perfect first visit to Trattoria Valona. We will most definitely be back. Boun appertite

The menu has many interesting items and the shared appetizers were a good start. The Arancini was very good as was the Special Grilled Octopus in a Hummus Salad. There were 4 of us and we all felt that the entrees were good but didn't rise to what our expectations were, based on other reviews. The Lobster Gnocchi was good but seemed to be missing the lobster. The best part of the Scallop Risotto was the perfectly seared Scallops but the risotto itself was just ok. The Fiochi di Pere was good but overall didn't have all that much flavor. The Chicken Parmigiana was a very generous portion of chicken and pasta but the Italian seasoning was almost overpowering. I don't like writing reviews like this but like I said, we're in the minority review-wise on this one. Give it a try. Our experience just wasn't as good as what we expected.

Another double date with our foodie friend's pick…read more And wow what a pick! A beautifully decorated (both outside and inside) quaint restaurant, with a visible pizza oven. We shared a literally beautiful antipasto for an appetizer. It boasted fresh mozzarella balls, eggplant, artichokes, sweet red peppers, prosciutto, and olives. We had a good and soft loaf of bread with a yummy olive oil and balsamic dip too. Our meals were ALL tremendous! We had pasta dishes - gnocchi marsala and fettuccine with clams - EXCELLENT! I had plenty of sauce left to dip the soft bread into :) The other couple had octopus (appetizer) and seafood atop squid ink pappardelle pasta. They loved their dishes as well. Of course we didn't have room for dessert, but our chocolate wine and other wines were definitely sufficient. BYOB's are great and money saving. This place is a bit of a haul but I hope to get back in the future !

They serve a delicious homemade bread that's warm when it's brought the table. In addition, it's accompanied by a dish of olive oil, with balsamic vinegar and what I believed to be a spicy dusting of pepper. It was a little too spicy for me - however, I did like the addition of the balsamic as a change from just olive oil. I would skip the pepper though, unless you like spice. We ordered the Polpette as an appetizer; it's a 'tradition' of mine. If meatballs are on the menu, I will always order them. These lamb, veal and beef meatballs were very good, and the marinara sauce they came in was excellent! The sauce is actually a 'roasted pomodoro' gravy - which is an 'intensified' version of a classic Italian sauce. It's made by roasting the tomatoes at a very high heat and almost caramelizing them. A little feta was added to the sauce, which really highlighted those meatballs!! We split the order - as 5 meatballs is quite a large appetizer! We decided to share two entrees - the Beef Short Ribs and the Lobster Ravioli. I always ask if the short ribs are lean - our server responded they were very lean...and they were. Soft, tender and very flavorful large chunks of beef, with a deliciously rich gravy with mushrooms on a bed a creamy garlic mashed potatoes! It was a superb dish! The website said the Short Ribs were the restaurant's most popular meal. Next, the Lobster Ravioli. The dish was a very 'delicate' one, with a very subtle brandy cream sauce. It had chopped jumbo shrimp and peeled cherry tomatoes with the raviolis. While the sauce tasted fine, it needed 'something' - we added pepper which helped. The raviolis were good - we couldn't taste lobster in the cheese of the raviolis - we assumed it was there. The chopped shrimps though provided a nice additional seafood flavor. I like my raviolis tender - the kind that almost melt in your mouth. The pasta here was firmer - a little more 'al dente', but it was fine. We ended our meal with the Chocolate Mousse. Served in a martini glass, the mousse had a velvety texture with a deep dark chocolate flavor. It was very rich yet light and fluffy; a good choice for dessert!
