Bakery Review: normally I order cakes at Schnucks bakery because they are pretty good. I recently ordered 48 cupcakes for my granddaughter's first birthday party. I ordered them with pink frosting. When we got the cupcakes we were surprised by how jarring the pink was. Almost red in color. Unfortunately, the frosting had WAY too much food coloring in it. Everyone thought the frosting was disgusting. It tasted like chemicals and had a horrible aftertaste. It was pretty embarrassing and we had a lot leftover because people were tossing them after a bite or two. I spent $40 on these cupcakes (I purchased the Minnie toppers somewhere else), and everyone was talking about them being the worst cupcake they ever had. They could definitely have made the frosting a lighter pink. Some people even thought the frosting was red. It was just total overkill on food coloring. I would have been better off getting them literally anywhere else. Such a disappointment!! read more

The meats at Schnucks Roscoe IL. Are a joke if you aren't planning to use it the day you buy your meats you are almost guaranteed to have spoiled meats and the stre refuses to make it right. I picked up 80/20 ground Chuck on Friday the 19th of Dec and on Saturday the 20th of December it was already turning brown. It showed on the package it was packaged on the 18th but sell by date was the 19th I also picked up London broil the same day from the deli and it was bad by Sunday the 21st I will never. I love shopping at this Schnucks store. Although it's changed products within the last couple of years and sometimes it's hard to find what you're looking for because they move things all the time, seems like forever the bread was right next to the produce and now all of a sudden it's in aisle four that doesn't make sense to me but that's all right. I would've been glad to give this review of five they keep it clean their employees are friendly the baggers are friendly they have several special need baggers and I think that is fantastic that they give them a job. But could somebody tell me what happened to the drugstore I have been dealing with that drugstore for 15 years and it just is gone. And they're sending me to CVS I don't like CVS I want my pharmacist back in my grocery store I am very unhappy over this. read more

Smaller Schnucks. They carry Boar's Head deli products which are hard to find in this area. Bakery is good and produce is excellent quality.

Schnucks is the best place to grocery shop in town. While being a smaller store, they always have quality produce, a great deli selection, and all of the staple grocery items you could need. The store provides a welcoming and clean environment as well! read more

Boy, Hilander went "Poof" when Schnuck's bought it. The changeover and store reset was a disaster! They accomplished it "on the fly", which means they did it during normal business hours. It totally created a mess and disrupted the customers' efforts to shop. After trying to navigate aisles clogged with old product being removed or repositioned and new product being placed causing customer confusion; I was so angry that nothing was organized. I could not find the few items I needed. On my way out, I spoke with the new General Manager and she informed me that she would personally help any customer who couldn't find what they needed. I told her I had another commitment that required me to leave without making my necessary purchases. Having worked in retail and done store resets, I know how important it is not to interfere with customer shopping. What Schnuck's should have done is to do the reset in stages, spaced over several days and performed between 9 PM and 7AM to minimize the impact to customer shopping. To that end, in some retail operations, I have even seen stores close and do a 24 hour reset, advertised well in advance, carefully planned out and staffed with sufficient personnel. After several more visits subsequent to the store changeover and reset, I found many of the same products at a higher price than before. Additionally, there were more store brands and less name brands. To me, cutting out some of my (and others) favorite brand names was a big problem in addition to the higher prices. They should have raised prices slowly. Call me inflexible, but it was enough to make me rethink my major grocery shopping and go to the next closest store (WalMart). UGH! (Read my review of WalMart). So, now I am exploring other grocery stores in the area. I am only going to the Roscoe Schnuck's for odds and ends that don't justify a trip to another grocery store. Clean. Quality. Fresh. A bit pricey at times but can find some good deals throughout the week. Organic produce selection is great. Have lots of health food options. Vegan. Organic. Etc. Small town so not a massive store but sized just right for Roscoe. Meat selection is good. Fresh fish and other fresh meats available. read more

The customer service here is shit. We lost my grandpa yesterday & the woman checking out begins asking 20 questions about it to my mom. Tells my mom she shouldn't let her get alcohol.(WHO IS OBVIOUSLY MOURNING) wish I remembered her name.. wish I spoke to the manager in that moment. But I was more worried about my mom. read more

I am writing this review to warn you that Schnucks in Roscoe cares more about a few dollars than they do about being fair and giving good customer service. I live in South Beloit and since there aren't any grocery stores there, we usually shop at Walmart in Rockton, but this past Saturday my husband and I went at Schnucks because we wanted ahi tuna and Walmart doesn't carry it. As we were shopping we noticed the rack of gift cards with the sign on it that said that if you spend $50 on gift cards you would receive $10 off your grocery purchase. Since my step son's birthday is coming soon I selected a $25 gift card to Buffalo Wild Wings and $25 gift card to Outback Steakhouse. We decided that I would pay for the cards and then give my husband the $10 to put towards our groceries. However, when I got to the register and paid, they did not give me the $10, and the bag boy informed me that was the second time that day it had happened. I went up to the customer service area to get the ten dollars while my husband paid for our groceries. The woman at the counter informed me that the deal was only on selected gift cards, not on all of them and that only one of the two qualified, even though their sign was posted on the entire rack. I asked for my money back on the one, so I could go pick out another one that qualified, but the woman refused to give me my money back or let me exchange for another one. By this time my husband was done paying for nearly $100 worth of groceries and came over to see what was going on. Since she refused to give me a refund, or let me exchange the card, or even simply give me the $10 off our groceries, my husband returned all of the groceries. It wasnt about the $10, it was the principle of the thing. Most businesses subscribe to the adage that the customer is always right and wouldn't lose a $100 sale over a measly $10, but not Schnucks. We also returned our "Loyalty Card" since we will no longer be shopping there in the future. The good news is that after we left, we drove to Woodman's in Beloit where we bought the ahi tuna for $3 less per pound than Schnucks was selling it for. So buyer beware. Schnucks cares more about $10 than they care about having happy customers. read more

I can always count on Schnucks for the freshest produce, bakery and meat selections! They are a bit more pricey than Wal Mart but absolutely worth every penny. The store runs very nice specials all the time and the employees are superb in keeping it fresh, clean and always stocked. Their deli offers many more selections than other stores and the wait time is minimal. read more
