Excellent physician while having comforting bed side manners. Highly recommend Dr. Schlesinger.

I am in an insane amount of pain and was really hopeful that he would use his knowledge to help me figure out the root of the problem and address it so I can have relief. No empathy, no explanations of my mri results and why I am having pain and numbness. Then finished the visit by saying "I mean I could do surgery if that's what you want and chances are I'll make it worse". I left in tears. In that moment I just needed a doctor to look at me as a human in pain and show empathy and reassure me there are options out there and we will find something that will work and give me relief.

I was requiring a full disc replacement as well. My actual surgeon was able to correct some of Burson's mistakes. He tried to make medical decisions without reading my MRIs correctly or chart. If you need a surgeon I would recommend getting 3 opinions and neither of the 3 being his. He doesn't show compassion and practices negligence. I have reported him to his chain of command although I seriously doubt any actions will be taken. I have seen many other reviews giving close to the same review I have. Some even claiming infections after his surgeries. I was very fortunate. I had Doctor Capacelli as my surgeon. I believe he is honestly one of the best in the world. If I had to give him any flaws at all is that he works at the same hospital as Timothy Burson who doesn't deserve the title of doctor. When he doesn't read charts or MRIs or listen to other doctors voicemails before trying to push decisions on patients without giving the full options or choices.

I have extreme DDD with severe nerve impingement that is causing me to not be able to walk, my…read moreprevious neurosurgeon stated that if I don't get surgery it will be permanent nerve damage. He stated he saw all the points causing pain and what needed to be done ---no epidural steroid injections!! They would put me at risk and delay surgery. Took me almost 7 months to Dr Maggio, basically took less than 5 minutes to say (epidural steroid injections? I have to go back to Dr mcmordie in Texarkana to have him do my surgery, called them and they said to get my --- back into the office so Dr mcmordie can schedule me for surgery! Dr Maggio claims Medicaid coverage demands epidural injections before they will approve surgery, I called Medicaid and they said they don't have any protocols demanding that!! It appears that legacy spine and neurology are what they call a (epidural mill) I've done a lot of research and have found that generally 99% of neurosurgeon's don't approve of epidural injections because they are not FDA approved!!!! They cause nerve scars and make surgery outcomes less successful. They're never recommended if you have mechanical structural damage happening. I have many MRI results stating that I have multi level damage, Dr Maggio pretty much Pooh poohed my concerns about my previous MRI's and said I was wrong. Schedule injections, went to my PCP the next day and told him Dr Maggio's solution and he was mad! Said he Dr Maggio knows better than that and in his opinion isn't going to do my needed surgery because of the fact I'm on Arkansas Medicaid, a lot of Dr's in Arkansas take Medicaid but treat patients at a lower level. My PCP has been at it 40 yrs and has seen this problem getting worse because of the lower reimbursement rate Medicaid pays. He said to cancel the epidural injection and got me referred BACK to Dr mcmordie immediately to hopefully intervene and hopefully my nerve impingement isn't permanently damaged!!! I don't recommend legacy for anything spinal, I have a feeling all the great reviews of them are people who have great insurance not Medicaid, matter of fact they should stop accepting Medicaid if it pisses them off! I'm very disappointed because my doctor lef me research and find a different neurosurgeon for a second opinion, Saw All the hype about what a great surgeon Dr Maggio was, well he made me feel second class l
