We had seen this place with its menu posted outside earlier in the day and had decided to seek it out again for a break. The menu (entirely in German) was simple and straight-forward. They focused on burgers and pizzas, with enough options to please any eater. Both my friend and I ordered veggie burgers and I got sweet potato fries as my side. The burger was great. I love a veggie patty and this one was good. It was blended nicely together and did not completely fall apart as you ate it. The extra veggies on the patty also added nicely to the burger. As for my sweet potato fries, they were good but under-seasoned. I wanted to add salt to them, but there were no salt shakers to be seen in the establishment. My friend seemed to enjoy her regular fries a great deal. The restaurant was clean and cool compared to the hot summer day. It had a modern, hipster design with lots of bench seats and small tables. There was also wifi for patrons. My only complaint (besides the fries) was some comments made from the workers while we were there. They could tell we were tourists (given the English) and politely asked where we were from. When I said America, one of them tried to make a Trump joke (which is a sore spot for me and not the first time someone has tried to bring this name up while I have been in Germany). They also kept correcting my German (especially after I told them where I was from). At first, I appreciated it as I am trying to improve, but after a while just felt rude and nit-picky. These interactions just left me feeling uneasy and made me happy to leave when we did.

The fried potatoes were perfectly cooked with slices that were crispy outside, but not inside and seasoned just right. The salad was fresh too. I also shared some of my wife's grilled sausages that were very nice. I was getting tired of boiled food. The menu said she ordered red sauerkraut. There was a warm type of sauerkraut that was also wonderful. The host couple were very friendly and though we and everyone sat outside (perfect August weather for anywhere), the inside is totally charming. Such creative fresh conceptions of German food! Not the heavy, sauce-laden, starchy German food one finds commonly. The restaurant seems to have an Alice Waters vibe using local produce and herbs. We had sea bass cooked in a light saffron sauce, pasta with local vegetables, an asparagus salad in a soft balsamic vinaigrette, and finished with a warm brownie situation and a panna cotta experience. As an added bonus, they really know wine and are happy to guide those uninitiated into Pfaltz wine culture. We had a nice Pinot Blanc, know as Weisser Burgunder. The restaurant is crisp and clean but not antiseptic. It's lovely. I recommend it.

Nice and friendly service. Seems on Sunday it is more a family happening as there were many little kids there which was ok.
