We had a booking issue at another restaurant close by so had to come up with a last-minute idea while visiting Manheim. We are lucky that we found this beautiful little spot super close to the Rhine River with great service and delicious food. We didn't have reservations so they accommodated us as a walk-in at 7:30 PM. We were lucky to get the last table and are very happy that we did so. They specialize in traditional German food, and I would classify this place as a casual spot with a very homey feel. Pricing is also very fair.
The menu has a lot of great options on it and the portion sizes are quite large. Being our first visit, we wanted to try some of the more popular dishes and went with our waitress's recommendations for the entrée. To start I had the Beef Carpaccio, which was pretty good. Being that I'm Italian and I am very specific on this preparation and it wasn't quite as delicious as some other versions I had in France during this trip, but still, I really enjoyed it and I'm happy that I ordered it. For my entrée I chose the Die Metzgerei Cordon Blue, which is two schnitzels, in between hearty ham and cheese. It came with a side salad and honestly, I couldn't even finish all of it. The flavors were great, it just was a lot of food and I got through about 80% of it. We did not leave hungry and we really had a nice meal. I would recommend to anyone visiting Manheim and would stop in again next time I'm in town. read more
