Such creative fresh conceptions of German food! Not the heavy, sauce-laden, starchy German food one finds commonly. The restaurant seems to have an Alice Waters vibe using local produce and herbs. We had sea bass cooked in a light saffron sauce, pasta with local vegetables, an asparagus salad in a soft balsamic vinaigrette, and finished with a warm brownie situation and a panna cotta experience. As an added bonus, they really know wine and are happy to guide those uninitiated into Pfaltz wine culture. We had a nice Pinot Blanc, know as Weisser Burgunder. The restaurant is crisp and clean but not antiseptic. It's lovely. I recommend it.

I was so looking forward to eating here. Good reviews and recommendations from locals. But what…read morestarted off as incredible meal was thoroughly botched and the failure on the part of the restaurant was poor. The mushroom salad was great, the spaetzle was out of this world. But after 5 minutes of waiting for my dinner to show up, I inquired about its status. Another 5 minutes later and after my three fellow diners had finished eating, the waitress tells me "the chef has no record of my order but he would try to make it for me.". Yeah. Just what I want. To wait another 15 minutes while the chef half asses my entrée and my other diners watch me eat. At the end if the meal, they came out to try and "prove" on their iPad that I didn't order my entrée. "It's not in my iPad". Of course it's not. You didn't put it in! Or maybe you took it off after you goofed up? Either way, I'm left to feel as if it's my fault. No apology. How irritating. I really started to love this place. Nothing like a massive screw up to sour one's opinion. Just can't recommend this place.

Let me start with: We changed dinner plans to return after our first encounter. They don't have Michelin stars, but were listed in the Guide Michelin. They definitely get five Manfred stars. Noteworthy appetizers: Fantastic curry soup dim sum combo and Tunatataki Mains: Wolfsbarsch (sea bass); large one as day special for two, whole fish, prepared into two servings or a la carte a filet of a smaller fish. We also had a half duck special with regional red cabbage. Heavenly! Third: French cheese platter of unpasteurized soft cheeses. Drinks: The open wines are fantastic. I liked the Grauburgunder (Pinot Grigio) the most. Service: Pedro was outstanding (in any language).

The stuffed cabbage in broth was super hot with a tangy but not too tangy broth that was delicious. The fried potatoes were perfectly cooked with slices that were crispy outside, but not inside and seasoned just right. The salad was fresh too. I also shared some of my wife's grilled sausages that were very nice. I was getting tired of boiled food. The menu said she ordered red sauerkraut. There was a warm type of sauerkraut that was also wonderful. The host couple were very friendly and though we and everyone sat outside (perfect August weather for anywhere), the inside is totally charming.
