Dec 16, 2020, Hired Mike Howard to repair structural damaged to my home caused by extensive dry rot…read moredamage. This was not a trivial job. The dry rot had compromised a main structural corner beam which supported the second story. The repair would first require building a temporary support to hold up the second story while removing the damaged support beam and replacing all of the dry rot wood. The repair process required first coordinating with a structural engineer to design a repair plan and then with the Snohomish County office to issue a repair permit. Mike was very helpful through the entire process. Mike was confident that he could perform the repair safely and within code without an engineering drawing, but suggested that the drawing would likely be required for the county to issue the permit. I decided to get the engineering drawing and Mike was right. The county flat out said that this repair required an engineering review and drawing. I told Mike I would hire him for the job, but only after I saw and understood what the repair plan entailed. Mike met with the engineer to discuss the repair job and then Mike outlined for me exactly how he would complete the repair. While listening to Mike explain the repair process it was apparent to me that he completely understood the structural design of a home. Having a contractor with this type of experience and knowledge was the only way I would go. Mike was a pleasure to work with. He answered all of my questions with integrity and no BS. I decided to take the 2 days off to watch the work performed. Mike had no issues with this. He discussed the work while it was in process and I always felt comfortable with his decisions and confidence. The work was done in accordance to the engineering drawing and the permit was signed off and closed without any issues. The images show the before and after work, minus the exterior wall board nailed up. I decided to repair the drywall and brickwork myself. Thanks for a wonderful job and experience Mike.

I like that they are a family-owned business that does honest work in their own community. Their guys are great, they cleaned our gutters when replacing our roof without being asked, left our home spotless and were super respectful while they worked. We have had a lot of work done over the years and Riverside is my favorite contractor we have worked with. Super well priced too! We took 4 bids and they came in tied at the lowest. The quality was really good on the roof and I didn't feel like we sacrificed that for a better price. They used heavier duty vents, added some vents, took the time to assess and replace the sheathing underneath and made improvements that the other outfits didn't mention. Great quality job at a great price!

Two examples include rebuilding a cedar sided deck that was rotten in various areas (including support beams) and rot coming from a separate window trim. Ilya and his crew supplied images detailing the damage the the plan as he moved forward, keeping us informed the entire time (as this was more of an exploratory style of job, since we were unsure how deep the rot would go). He was very kind, respectful, and knowledgeable. We're grateful for his work quality and have recommended him to friends over the years, as well.

He was…read moredifficult to talk to on the phone, because he talked over me & didn't seem to comprehend anything I was saying to him without my explaining it several times. After booking my appointment weeks in advance (he couldn't get me in sooner than that?), he was a COMPLETE NO-SHOW. Apparently, even my texting him earlier on the same day of that first missed appointment didn't make him realize that we had an appointment that day. After he didn't show, I called him, & he rescheduled for the very next day (why did it take him weeks to get me in before?). And then he canceled the SECOND appointment an hour or two before the appointment window was ending, so effectively, a no-show 2 days in a row. (I had taken 2 days off work for him.) He told me he "didn't do" the floor repairs I needed an estimate of, though he had scheduled me for exactly that in the first place, & prior to the FIRST missed appointment, he already had photos of my flooring. Then he never texted back after just telling me he wouldn't help me. His communication was consistently slow or absent. One of the worst parts was that when I wrote a complaint about him on Yelp, he had the nerve to reply & say he had never heard of me & that we had never done business together, not realizing I've got ALL the receipts--incoming & outgoing phone calls to his phone number, and texts showing exactly what he said to me & when he said it--he even signed his name to those texts. When I called him out on his outright lies, telling him I could prove it, he literally immediately deleted & rewrote his reply to me to be all sweet and apologetic, which REPLACED the answer where he basically called me a liar & said he had no idea who I was and that we had never been in contact. (He replied that to someone else awhile back, too. Makes me think that was a lie as well.) Ilya is a DOUBLE NO-SHOW, an outright liar, & a real piece of work. SUPER shady. We changed an old tub for a wonderful upgrade, expanded the shower area, with high-end glass, added excellent tile work throughout (he has a great tile guy), changed counter-tops, and even moved a wall of 50 year old cedar panels to extend an existing wall. Were there hiccups along the way, sure. But now, several years later we are thrilled to use these rooms every day. We work at home and the lifestyle enhancement has been profound. Truth be told we did a good deal of research before and chose well with our components and visual choices. The paint work was superb (he has a great paint team too). The team had an amusing cast of characters and I enjoyed them. They took tremendous care to keep the spaces (bedroom next to the bath) absolutely clean and protected. It took a while with delays and fixes but now all I can say is we really appreciate all the effort that went in and Milt's good spirit to get it right. If you want a successful project like we experienced i'd say you might need to be an engaged partner in the process, that's what I did and the results speak for themselves.

The initial time suggested wouldn't work for me so Edvin stated he would be on site 30 mins earlier. 10:30 AM arrives. No-show from Edvin. No communication, no update, no notice. 8 mins past our agreed upon meeting time, I had to be the one to initiate finding out what happened. Shouldn't the business be the one letting me know if they couldn't make the time BEFORE the agreed upon time? After finding out Edvin couldn't meet that day, he said he could be there the following day at 11AM. Again, another no-show from this company. No communication, no update, no notice. Even after giving them the benefit of the doubt asking if we were still meeting 7 mins AFTER the agreed time, Edvin chose to read the message and remained silent. I thought it was a small job and paid deposit right away. They said they could start Monday Dec 5. Then Dec 9 Edvin said the metals have been delayed for a week due to the holidays. Dec 29 I asked when they would start. They scheduled then canceled on me Jan 14, 26, 30, then Feb 8, and said it was due to inclement weather. Then they handed me off to Sam and said there was confusion and language barrier. Then Feb 25 they said they were waiting on metals again but they did start pulling off the damaged roof. Then I contacted them Mar 1, 3 and no answer. Then Mar 4, 6, 11, 17, 18, 19, 24, 29 it was either sporadic or no communication until I threatened bad reviews. Apr 1 they replaced the new metal roof section. It was not the matching striation of the original panels but I didn't make them change it. I inspected the work and I asked them to cover a small soffit area with metal to protect it and make it look uniform. Also they needed to clean up their scraps. Apr 20 they still had not come back. May 21 they asked for final payment. I reminded them they needed to do the touchups and clean up again. May 25 they finally completed the work and I submitted final payment.
