I paid $11,000 in total for my father who had a couple charges, which turned into just one felony. Assault class B felony.. mind you he is 73 years old. He was looking at 10 years, I don't even know if the lawyer did anything, I never had any updates with him, he told me ONCE about what he did, which was him making a motion to the judge, but at the end of the day, the judge is the one that decided to give my father 5 years considering his health, no prior record and his age. I just don't feel like Mr. Schioppi did much, sometimes didn't show up to court which they had to keep putting it off. We basically went to court sometimes just to get a new date which was really annoying and time-consuming. I say "WE" because I was the only one there for my father. I went to court for a whole year and two months with my father before he is now sitting in jail for a year and a half. Eligible for parole after 3 1/2 years. A 73-year-old man that took about 15 medications per day for his mental health issues. His mental health issues is what prompted him getting arrested for his crime in the first place. A 73-year-old man, who could barely walk and now needs a cane that they finally gave him. He was transferred six times to six different jails and currently at Marcy correctional facility, I just went to visit him and it's a straight up village. The quality of the jail is worse than Rikers island! I feel so bad man. Just praying for time to pass and praying for my father's health not to deteriorate so I can have the chance of bringing him back home and he can live with me and I will take care of him until my last breath. We only get one father! read more
