The real specailty is the rump steak served on a blazing hot slab of stone. Amazing to see. There are several floors in this historic structure. We liked the fare enough to return 2 nights in a row. On recommendation from our server, Valentine, I had the steak on the hot lava rock and a Viennese Lager that had won gold in a European craft brewing competition. I could cook the steak to my medium rare liking right at the table on the hot stone...very cool! The beer was exemplary, the cost for the 300g steak which was tender and locally sourced was about $20, and the way the kitchen was organized bears mention. The wait staff stayed on the floor taking excellent care of the patrons. They relayed their orders to the kitchen via a handheld called a Leo2 device. The kitchen obviously had some items pre-prepped. The food was run to the tables by other servers and the waiter kept a close eye on the process to assure satisfaction. 2 nights in a row, I was served my entire meal in less than 5 minutes! And it was delicious! This service process is the wave of the future, for sure. Second night, I had the pork ribs which were very good, but not as good as the steak.

They asked if I could pay in cash because they were out of receipt paper. We explained we didn't need a receipt and they said they could try to run it. They then did, it went through, I saw it on their machine and I got an alert on my phone that I was charged. They said okay but came back and said it didn't I went back to look at my charges but was so flustered I didn't see it. I then asked where the ATM was and as I was walking there I double checked my account and then I saw the charge. I went back and showed them and they said okay. Normally, I would say this is just a fluke, however, 3 days prior I went to the Stiegl in Vienna and they also asked if I could pay with cash cause their machine was broken even though it seemed to work fine. My bill was 31.00 and it wouldn't go through then they said they needed to try and run it for 35, and it went through and they gave me 4 euros in cash. I find it odd that two different locations within a week had similar issues. When I have not had this issue anywhere in Austria except there. Left a bad taste in my mouth for Stiegl.

When I was on vacation in Germany I really enjoyed visiting Kloster Breweries. You feel like you are having a religious experience with a beer buzz. Since I was collecting Beer Steins at the time I purchased two at one Kloster Brewery I visited. I like the feel of the stein and the taste of beer when you drink it out of this stein. I've kept my steins for years and years. I'm recommending when you visit Germany that you tour one (or more) of the monastery or castle breweries. It's an unforgettable experience! Klaus, if I get anything wrong please tell me. I don't want to look too stupid. All I have are my happy memories. Plus I have my souvenirs placed where I can see them all the time!!!
