I worried something had happened, and hoped he was okay, but found Alma Hecht (Second Nature Landscaping), who did a lovely job...although, sadly, she passed away some years later. Since then, we've done most of the gardening work ourselves. Update: Now we're seniors and can't do all of the gardening. In 2022, I learned that Elliot had opened a garden center next to Bay Natives. So in early 2023 he finally came back to give us an estimate on both front and back garden improvements. He spent plenty of time with us, especially in the back. About a month later, we got a $200 invoice for his time/consult re: plantings, irrigation, setting up work, etc., which we gladly paid. However, now it is May 6th, and have yet to receive any actual estimate. We would have totally understood if he'd just said, "Sorry, I can't take on your job, I'm too busy," up front. But instead we've been left hanging. Disappointed! Guess we'll move on to find someone else who wants to do the work.

We were quoted $300 for this initial visit - that would include Elliot's time, as well as $75 each for the hourly rate of two gardeners working with him, and a gameplan for ongoing service. Both my husband and I looked at our yard and saw no difference after the hour-long visit, and we received no follow up whatsoever, until around one month later a bill for $470 arrived.

BiomeMechanics - A forlorn apartment building yard has been softened and beautified with several native plants to frame this retaining wall.

Jeffrey at BiomeMechanics is nothing short of a magician. We had made the mistake of planting…read morebefore we truly eradicated a pervasive oxalis/clover infestation. Before working with Jeffrey, and shortly after spending a hefty price on several plants - the oxalis was relentless, taking over the totality of our yard. The weed barriers we installed before planting were no match at all. We hired Jeffrey to eradicate the oxalis and maintain the yard. Jeffrey carefully and lovingly moved each of our plants to temporary pots, dug up the clover and sheet mulched our entire yard. He also saved two trees that were suffering from mold from poor planting, and has performed other key rescue efforts that have preserved our plants. He is now doing a great job maintaining our yard with regular pruning, shaping, replanting, addressing trouble spots as they arise, recommending native sustainable plants and taking out the - very occasional - weed that still pops up! He was also instrumental in our water design. I could not recommend Jeffrey enough! Grab him if he's not too busy already!

The woman rings me up and says "it'll be $26.50", I say "I thought it was $16?" She says "no..." then looks at the price and says "oh". Long story short she did nothing except tell me she couldn't charge $16 for the ring and asked if I still wanted it. I said no. I don't think she was the owner as she said "I'll have to talk to her about it" assuming she meant talk to the owner about displaying pricing as one thing and trying to charge customers more. To the owner, this is illegal in California. https://codes.findlaw.com/ca/business-and-professions-code/bpc-sect-12024-2/ California Code, Business and Professions Code - BPC § 12024.2 (a) It is unlawful for any person, at the time of sale of a commodity, to do any of the following: (1) Charge an amount greater than the price, or to compute an amount greater than a true extension of a price per unit, that is then advertised, posted, marked, displayed, or quoted for that commodity. (2) Charge an amount greater than the lowest price posted on the commodity itself or on a shelf tag that corresponds to the commodity, notwithstanding any limitation of the time period for which the posted price is in effect. I was really annoyed that she chose not to honor the price displayed and was surprised she didn't even attempt to rectify the situation in anyway other than "oh well, do you still want it?"
