The day I visited, I was looking for a smaller, 2 inch succulent. They don't carry a lot of the smaller varieties so I did walk out empty handed. Still-it was fun to browse and the service was helpful as they answered my questions and greeted customers as they walked in, I definitely recommend a stop here when you're driving out of Half Moon Bay or browsing the other garden shops nearby. read more

Will I just leave with inspiration? medium sized succulents are around $8-10, depending on what kind. I def suggest buying mediums as I find them much easier to grow than small ones which can get finnicky and die quicker if you water it wrong or give it the wrong conditions. seems to have better luck and sturdier when you bring them to the home already grown and more mature. They are organized by tables so if you're looking for a particular succulent, that and similar ones will all be in that area. If you're looking for ready to go gifts, that's available too on the sides. This is a super cool plant store on 92 between Skyline and Half Moon Bay. I never realized how many different types of succulents there were, many of them with very cool sounding names that I have forgotten. Some of the plant shapes are very interesting too; I got one with a very regular geometric pattern which has grown in a very unpredictable and interesting way. We've stopped by a number of times on the way back from Half Moon Bay and usually leave with a few new plants. They carry pots and containers of many sizes along with potting soil, so you can get everything you need to support you new plant's growth. The good news about most of these is that you only need to water them once a week or so, which is good news for someone who has mismanaged a lot of house plants. read more

We happened upon this little gem whilst looking for lavender. I'm so happy they were in the same row of greenhouse's. I've never seen so many varieties of succulents in one place! It was so much fun inspecting each plant and discovering ones I hadn't encountered before. Each plant looked healthy and well cared for. The lady on staff was very friendly. So in the case of Highway 92 Succulents the sign is spot on. Part of a series of themed greenhouse / nurseries right off Highway 92. Resonably sized greenhouse with about half the space an off limit growing area. The rest of the area is mostly tables with more succulents than you can shake a stick at. Some have large labels some do not. Prices are about area avergage and the real ddraw here is selection. The staff was friendly but unobtrusive. They also have pottery and other garden knick knacks and a few bonsai plants. SO as a rule we do not go to Half Moon bay of good weather days or weekends. The traffic over 92 can be brutal and parking at this place during those times can be rough to impossible. Off days, rainy days, foggy days aare all easy in easy out. Great spot off the highway heading inward towards Half Moon Bay. Heading towards this location is a row of nurseries & pumpkin/ christmas tree farms. This is also a great town too to visit if you havent been to HMB pumpkin festival. So much fun! Anyways, for the past year Ive been into growing succulents & this spot has so many different varieties. Its so amazing to see the different colors, sizes, & types of succulents ive never seen before. I got a few today im so excited to add to my collection but also did take pictures of some i thought were just amazing. Succulents don't excite me, but I appreciated the layout, organization, presentation, friendly smiles, and various signs, both professional (Firebreak Farms, From Oaxaca With Love) to personal (Smells Good, Do Not Pet). This shop was rated #2 of 17 for shopping in Half Moon Bay by a popular website that advises people on trips. And they invite you to bring your dogs in rather than make them wait in the car. It's one of six hothouses sharing a parking lot, though I am unable to find a collective name for the spot. (People mistakenly identify the collection as Pastorino's Farms, who merely have the biggest sign). Basically think of this as an Orange Julius, just one part of a nameless food court. read more

Omg! I just happened to be visiting Half Moon Bay and on the way back, I Yelped local succulent nurseries and found this amazing place! My fellow Yelpers hit it out of the park AGAIN and I'm truly thankful! I've never been to a succulent only nursery before and this place is like Disneyland to any succulent addict such as myself! I could have spent HOURS looking at them all!! I ended up having to limit how many I was taking home, mainly due to how expensive succulents are and how much room I have at home, but if I didn't exercise control, I would have needed to bring a truck! Lol! Every plant was drop dead gorgeous, healthy, labeled well, and irresistible! I found varieties I can't get at my local big box nurseries at home and it was so fun to see ones I've never heard of before! My suggestion to anyone going is to do what I did....first, look around at all of what they have to offer, make mental notes of what you can't live without, then go back at the start and start picking out the ones you are going to buy! It really makes sense to do this since they didn't have any carts available. Silly, because they would sell more plants that way. The prices were decent, depending on the rarity of the plant, and some were on sale. They also have some nice pottery as well and a big fairy garden supply area. Cha-Ching! If I were only Oprah rich ! I now wish I would have bought a few more I was eyeing, since I live 2.5 hours away. I'm definitely going back next year, maybe to get the boobie plant, lol! Stopped by Highway 92 Succulents as I was leaving Half Moon Bay! The store looked extremely cute and welcoming from the outside so I was glad I made the stop. They have a wide variety of succulents and plants. The succulents from what I noticed ranged around $4-8. When you walk in, you pick up a box on the side then select as many succulents as your heart desires. After, you fall in line to be rung up! Places online are selling a single node for $20-30!!!! But you're only allowed one pot. Still amazing! They also sell rocks and soil and vases and pots! I asked Brendon (Brandon? Brynden?) if he had any small aloes and he went to the back and looked around and found a few for me! He also shared a ton of fun facts and answered all my questions! Apparently you can eat anything that's a cacti! But you need to make sure it's actually classified as a cacti first hahahah. They unfortunately don't have nightblooming cereus (aka Tan Hua). Came here to purchase succulents for my MIL and stepmom and ended up spending an hour here making customized arrangements. I'm not a big plant person, but I am a very sentimental person. It was awesome to be able to create personalized arrangements and learn about all the different varietals. I didn't even purchase succulents when I saw the cactus selection and learned they require different care (Again, not a plant person. Plants die in my care). I've been wanting to stop by and check out their succulent inventory and finally was in the area to do so! I walked in and was greeted by a man by the cashier. I browsed all the different succulents and found a beautiful variety. I've been looking for the Burro's Tail and finally found it here (jump for joy)! The checking out process was fast and they take Apple Pay which is great for contactless payment. The succulents are on a the pricier side compared to other locations but about the same price for other nurseries within Half Moon Bay. IMHO - Covid Edition If you're on your way to Half Moon Bay via Hwy. 92, plus you're a succulent fanatic, you should stop by this succulent store, which is also next-door neighbors to a few other plant-related establishments; orchids, carnivorous plants, etc. They have a huge variety of succulents in their large, humid greenhouse. Just grab a cardboard tray and start shopping! IMHO, I think the prices are high but you get what you pay for with unique offerings, and a wide selection. In the past, one was able to have your purchased succulents planted on site in any of their pottery or in one of your own. Huge array of succulents so there's something for everyone and then some. I picked up a cute variegated bear/kitten paw and a burro tail this time but I saw a few others that I want to come back for. Prices are mostly low/fair. Plenty of parking and a port o potty at the end of the row of shops outside, should you need. Be forewarned that the floor is very uneven. The first time we tried to shop here I was recovering from foot surgery and unable to navigate things well. So, if you have anyone with mobility challenges just keep that in mind. read more

A sure delight for gardeners and succulent fanatics (addicts!!!) alike. A place meant to be noticed - it's right on the side of the road in Hwy 92. It was the 4th of July and I spent overnight in Half Moon Bay. Due to the traffic at Highway 92 during the time, I took the Highway 380 Route all the way to Pacific Coast Highway. When it was time to leave, I sure was determined to take Highway 92 just to see this infamous wonderland. Looking at the pictures and reading the reviews from here, I got this impression that this place is going to be a mom and pop stand. Eventually, I had one of these moments where I was glad I was wrong! (And I'm usually always right ) Highway 92 Succulents is one to visit for succulent enthusiasts #Succudicts LOL. I am not sure if it's due to the COVID-19 pandemic that they only have one entrance to the place, but, during this time they were having everybody enter through one door and exit through the next. There are several strings of all sorts that greet you at the entrance. Pearls, Dolphins, Beads...I I do not remember seeing any bananas but bananas are pretty common in the Southbay. The assortment of items they have is superb. All of their plants look well-cared for and I noticed that, just like a bakeshop, time and time again one of the staff would bring in a new batch of succulents to add to a group that had been taken from. Talk about freshly baked succulents! Echeverias, yes. Aeoniums, yes. Cacti, yes. Sempervivums, oui! Cotylédons, si! Graptoverias, yes. Haworthias, yas! Senecio, oo! Kalnchoes, always! And much more. The store is warm and humid - be ready to sweat. They also sell different kind of pottery and hanging baskets. Staff is friendly. The place is clean and organized. I just can't believe I didn't know this place existed until about 2 months ago. Since then, I've been here 3 times because I have dreams about having the perfect succulent collection! What I've learned from my trips there over the summer: 1. Go multiple times. The selection varies each time I go. Lots of wonderful options to choose from. 2. If you buy a pot with your succulents, they also give you a ziploc baggie of soil and a small ziploc baggie of rocks. The prices of their pots are fantastic and the selection was varied each time I go. 3. Yes, traffic sucks to get there on the weekend. Plan on it taking 45-50 minutes from San Mateo/start of highway 92. This place makes me so happy! I know I will be back again soon. read more

**This is a review of our trip last January 2020** After driving and taking in some vitamin sea at half moon bay, we passed by this place to wander around and prolly get some stuff to bring home. The place is just awesome as it was beside the street. There were different nurseries of different kinds of plants but I got excited for this one since I collect and propagate succulents. The downside is that it was kinda muddy on some parts because it had been raining the night before so there were puddles and some plants were drowning. It being winter some of the plants are not happy as they needed dry earth and some sunshine love. Some of them looked like they're over watered with leaves growing separate from each other (not a good sign) it needed some love esp since the prices are on the pricey part. The place is big and spacious and they have signs explaining the types of succulents that are displayed for purchase. There was also a panoramic succulent display complete with a train-set; although it was turned off at the time of our visit. We will visit again when things are better... I am sure of it. read more

Well, I wish I could say that my experiences coming here were positive but unfortunately the two times I've been here were not. The owner is rude and condescending. We came for a specific plant, they opened an hour late even though their Instagram specifically stated 9am(which they later changed,see the screenshot). My friend was getting a String of Hearts for his girlfriend and I was getting one for myself. The owner made the comment of "you really look like you like pink plants!" to my friend. It's a business, we were abiding by the one plant per person rule. We waited 2 hours in line and didn't complain but to be treated rudely is insane to me. What a lovely shop right off the 92. Today I popped in to buy some succulents. And I was happily surprised to find they sold soil in three different sizes at affordable prices. Yay! I walked around the shop about 2 times to figure out which plant spoke to me. I wanted more than I purchased, but maybe one day when I'm a homeowner...yeah right living in the Bay Area...I can get something so beautiful. Love this place! Full of beautiful green succulents with such a wide variety ranging from different sized succulents and starting at around $5 and up! If you purchase a plant along with a pot they provide free soil to help you plant your lovely new succulent(s). Employees are super friendly and are very helpful so do not hesitate to ask them any questions if you have any--did I mention that they're also very knowledgeable about succulents?! The cashier told me in the 2 years he has worked there he hasn't seen the place have such a big crowd on a regular Wednesday morning like today and it warmed my heart knowing they're getting more attention & customers. A must for the weary traveler winding down Highway 92 towards Half Moon Bay! At this point, you're nearly to the ocean. The very air around you smells and feels wonderful. If it doesn't calm you upon arrival, there's always the lavender shop down the way. This succulent shop is but one of many specialized plant nurseries open to the public along this beautiful stretch of road. From the road, you might first spot the large red sign that says Carnivorous Plants before anything else. That shop is right next to this one, and I do recommend giving that one a try as well. Highway 92 Succulents is my absolute favorite. I've never seen so many in my life. Just when I think they've got every type, color, and design possible, I come back and find the selection has ballooned even deeper into their labyrinth of a greenhouse. Both succulent varieties and all manner of cacti can be found here, along with bright pots and funky garden accessories. The smaller ones won't cost you much, depending on how fancy you're wanting to get, and the atmosphere is friendly and casual for browsing. You don't have to be an expert hobbyist to step foot in here. They will steer you in the right direction and send you on your way. Back when I lived in the area, taking myself on a date to Half Moon Bay, with a stop here, was a regular occurrence. Chilly Northern California beaches and beautiful, weird plants are two things I adore most about this planet. My first time here had me asking how many times I should be watering my succulents during the week (novice), and the shopkeeper telling me that was my problem right there. If you have enough sun on them and you don't water them until the soil is dry, it's pretty hard to kill these guys. Even if this particular shop isn't your cup of tea, if you love plants in general stopping at this section along 92 won't be a decision you regret. They have something for everyone and all the folks who run these shops are truly beautiful people. Happy Planting! I absolutely love this place. They have a wide variety of of succulents and it's a small store, but definitely never feels like it. I easily find a new succulent every time I come, so beware if you don't have self control like myself, hah! I like that they limit the "rare" succulents, so people don't get greedy and take them all. I think my only thought about this place is that some of the succulents can be a little pricey for 4 inch pots, compared to other stores. They have also have pots, on top of succulents :) I always get a pot to go with my succulents I get! They have many workers who will be available to help you and they are also very friendly.
