I love outdoor metal art, especially when recycled and repurposed to create something amazing and beautiful....Don't laugh but I actually visited because I had my eye on a 5ft metal rooster you see driving down Highway 92 and seen in a Yelp pic courtesy of Ivory B. I actually have a 3 ft tall rooster that was given to me as a joke about 12 yrs ago...I'm sure you can imagine "Cheryl has a BIG....er...keeping this G-rated....(word without the -a-doodle-do!) in the garden!" Um... yeahhh...Hey, I actually like my metal art and it's definitely a funny conversation piece...since then I've received smaller ones but not quite the same design as the one at Sun Studios. So when I called to inquire (Friday, 1/13/22, 130pm), I was given a price but when I arrived there today it was actually much more...a little disappointed with the person who told me otherwise...poo! This place is huge! I've driven by many many many times and never stopped. We were in the market for a new dinosaur to add to our garden. They have huge ones, and smaller ones too. They aren't cheap. We did get a small discount which was appreciated. They have a nice selection of statuary, bird baths, fountains, Talavera pots and decor, cement benches and patio sets too. Anything you could want for your garden you will probably have here. They also appear to be able to order custom cement stuff too. I saw the color swatches on the wall. We love our dinosaur! Gorgeous outdoor garden decoration galore! This awesome place on the way to Half Moon Bay is like stepping into nother magical realm. Dont be surprised if you see some fairies flying around. You first enter and there are running fountains surrounding you. You can hear the babble of the water as you peruse the shop. It's addicting! This place stole my heart. I want everything! My one addiction is fountains when it comes to my yard, front and back. I can't get enough, they are everywhere. The sound alone literally bring my anxiety down ten notches. I fall asleep to them at night. When we have people over I always get compliments on all my fountains. A warning for those who place orders with this store: 1. It took 3 times the length of time I was originally told to get merchandise to the store and ready for delivery, and they could not schedule a delivery for an additional week. 2. Once the items was in the store and ready for delivery things got interesting, The store owner refused to deliver the item unless I could obtain 2 "landscaping guys" to lift it off the truck. I told her my husband and I could do this as I am an Olympic lifter and can safely handle the transfer. She refused stating insurance issues. So in her opinion it's safer for an untrained "man" to lift this off the truck, she also refused to provide a 2nd person to deliver it. 3. Once she refused to deliver the item she also refused to return my money. I had to submit a claim with the bank. This store is so unprofessional, I waited 45 min to get helped in the store, they never emailed or called to tell me it was not coming at the expected date, I had to call them and follow up at every "due date". Overall if you are just buying something in the store it might be ok but once the order pad comes out...RUN. read more

This is more of a garden sculpture business than a nursery. Amazing and unique metal sculpture, beautiful fountains ... and some nice plants too, just not enough of them. I actually found a succulent I had never seen before, and it was quite lush and healthy. It's an awesome place that inspires outdoor ideas and wishlists, but I'm subtracting one star for the minimal plants and one star for the exorbitant prices. If money were no object, I would certainly return to buy the life-size metal giraffe. Might freak the neighbors out a bit, but what a great way to direct guests to the house, "it's the third house on the right -- you can't miss it, it's the one with a giraffe out front. I found my way to Sun Studios because they are a resource for Campania Fountains. They carry a huge selection of fountains from a wide variety of specialty manufacturers, as well as a large collection of eclectic (meaning unusual and striking) garden ornaments. Mara, the owner of Sun Studios, is an absolute delight to work with; she knows her merchandise and is charming and accommodating with special requests. Half Moon Bay may seem a bit out of the way, but the trip is well worth the adventure of wandering the grounds of Sun! read more

This business is breaking the law, and absolutely zero customer service. On 4/15/2017, I bought a few things from the business, including 2 large planters. I wasn't sure at the time of purchase whether the planters would be a good fit to my garden. I bought them anyway because I thought I could always return for a refund. I decided to leave them at the store to pick up later. I thought if they did not fit, it would be easier for me to return them and get refund if the items were there at the store. Unfortunately, when I returned to the store to return them for refund on 4/20/2017, the sales woman (Mara) would not refund my purchase, but only offered store credit. She pointed out that all sales at this store were not refundable, only store credit. I questioned her why she did not mentioned the no-refund policy to me while I made the purchase, and there were no displays in the store about such policy. Her response to me was "I could not possibly tell this policy to all my customers. I was not the only shop around here doing this." She indicated that the credit card receipt I signed was the prove for not issuing the refund. THERE WAS NO DISPLAYS ANYWHERE IN THE STORE STATING "NO REFUNDS, STORE CREDITS ONLY." She did offer to call me after she talked to her co-owners the next day. Guess what, she never called. I followed up calls to her (5 times), but all went to the answering machine. NO ONE BOTHERED TO PICK UP THE PHONE, AND SHE NEVER CALLED ME BACK. She is breaking the law according to the State of CA Dept of Justice (https://oag.ca.gov/consumers/general/refunds). "The policy must be displayed either at each entrance to the store, at each cash register and sales counter, on tags attached to each item, or on the company's order forms, if any. A return policy printed only on a receipt, for example, is not sufficient. If a store violates this law (California Civil Code section 1723), the purchaser can return an item for a full refund within 30 days of purchase." read more

I live in HMB, so I've driven past Sun Studios often. I recently purchased a couple of plants from Half Moon Bay Nursery and needed some decorative pots for them. Sun Studios was my first and last stop! Tom and I spent a good chunk of time just wandering around in amazement at all of the different pots, fountains, birdbaths, benches, etc. Almost too much to take in! We found too lovely pots - glazed in a brilliant blue and an earthy red - and only spent $30. We will be back for other decorative garden/indoor plant needs! read more

Nice selection of fountains and a few chimineas. We found a fountain that was the right size and finish for our cottage garden (not too formal looking). The people who work here are very nice and well-informed about the fountains and chimineas. They loaded up the heavy fountain pieces in our truck and even provided the padding (burlap bags and soft cloth pads) to go along with it. Fun, whimsical place, definitely worth checking out. They have lots of fountains, and most of them are turned on, so the sound of splashing water is everywhere. They also have cute gifts like garden faucets engraved with chickens and flowers. Very pleasant experience every time we visit this place. A lot of pieces are very unique, while others are from Giannini, Silvestri etc. Some high end stuff, and some barn kind of decor. All pieces are priced very clearly and well, and the staff is easy to find and talk to. We have bought things from here to pick up later, and the whole process has been great. One of their salespeople completely lied to us about availability of merchandize. We stopped at Sun Studios to look at ceramic containers. I was particularly interested in some items that had already been sold. I asked about possibly ordering something similar. The salesperson said that these pots were made by her cousin, and that there wasn't a website, and the only catalog available was for 'in house' use only. The name of the manufacturer was on the inside of the pot, we took a picture and sure enough later that evening we found a huge website and discovered that the manufacturer distributes to over 20 stores in the bay area. I can't believe this salesperson totally and completely lied to us, even after purchasing close to $200 in other merchandize! I'll never shop there again! read more

We love coming here on our way out to the coast and just browsing around. There is a large indoor section with some furniture, ponds and cool stuff, a covered outdoor section with cool statuary, patio sets and pots, and my son loves the big animals in the front and also likes the sound of the fountains. I bought a very cool and somewhat complex fountain and pump from Sun Studios for a great price and a very reasonable setup and delivery fee. They delivered within the week and showed up on time. It took them about 30 minutes to set up my fountain as they also helped make sure it was a level surface. We love our fountain and we always get compliments from our friends. I was amazed at my first stop there to find such a large selection of fountains, pottery, statuary, chmineas, etc. The various indoor and outdoor rooms go on and on. If you're looking for it, they probably have it. I purchased a beautiful fountain for my garden that they specially ordered and hand painted for me. They came to my house and installed it to my specifications. It looks and sounds great! I've had it for about two years now, and it is running as well as when it was first installed. I have since returned to Sun Studios and have purchased a chiminea, pottery and some statues for my garden. My mom loved my garden so much that I took her to Sun Studios so she could get some plant stands and pottery. Everyone at the store is so nice and helpful. It is nice, family owned business that strives to make it's customers happy. I keep returning to Sun Studios whenever I'm out at Half Moon Bay. It's a lovely place to stop and browse. read more

I have been to Half Moon Bay several times, and each time I passed by this place on the 92, I have been itching to just stop and take a picture with the metal animals on the side of the road! In fact, I had been eying the hippos each time, and this time, I made the swift decision to pull into their lot, where we walked out toward the side of the road, and I finally have a picture with one of the hippos!
