As a plus sized woman, I find the seats to be very roomy and comfortable. The seats were very cushy and supportive and there was a ton of leg room. I'll go to more shows based on this alone. I think my issue is comparing this theatre to Proctors, which is a very different vibe. The Palace offers more lively shows with less of a strict seating policy. People are often up and down in their seats, there is often a lot of chatter in the crowd; and I think this threw me off my first visit, as I am used to being quiet and still in my seat until intermission. Parking is pretty easy with multiple options locally, as well as abundant street parking. Concessions were very pricy. The bathrooms are in the basement if you are on the main level, so that's a bit of a pain. I won't hesitate to book another show here!

My guess is the fact that they staff the facility with mostly untrained senior citizen volunteers who like it toasty. The same volunteers have significant difficulty guiding people to their seats because they seem to be unfamiliar with rows and seat numbers. I don't know how many times some elderly usher stood in front of me, shining their flashlight in my face, confused about where people were supposed to sit. Oh well... Still an unbelievably beautiful place to see (and hear!) a show. Truly, not a bad seat in the house.

5 Star Venue 5 Star Service…read more-2 Stars for Lack of Comfort This was our first visit to the Music Hall. I was having difficulty buying seats online for our event so I ended up calling the ticket office. Whoever helped me was great. She was patient and helpful. Explaining that this was our first visit there, I wanted to ensure we had the best possible seats to enjoy the show as well as have a great overall experience. Based on our conversation I chose lower balcony, front row seats. I recall the agent asking if we had any issues with stairs which was good as there are quite a few stairs to get to the balcony. While we found the view to be great, the seats are horrible. They are extremely skinny and uncomfortable. I saw on the floor that they even use bistro chairs at the ends of some aisles. From the looks of things, the only comfortable seats would be the boxes along the walls as they looked to have chairs that you could move. The front-row balcony is not well suited for anyone over 6' tall as there is not enough leg room to sit with your legs in front of you. By the time the concert ended, my legs were cramping, my butt was sore, and my lower back in knots from trying to sit a bit sideways. Anyone who is slightly overweight will find the seating most uncomfortable. Aside from that, the theater is quite beautiful and the acoustics seemed to work well for our event. The staff is friendly and helpful. Exiting the theater went smoothly and quickly. We will definitely return but will try for box seats to see if they are more comfortable.

The Massry Center is a great little theater right in the heart of Albany. We recently attended a…read moremusical performance in the theater and the acoustics in the venue are great, the common areas are bright and clean, and the ticketing/arrival process was seamless and easy. The Massry has teamed up with Troy Savings Bank Music Hall for their scheduling/ticketing this season and the line-up they are presenting is a wonderful, diverse selection of music. I am looking forward to attending future performances at this venue and seeing what direction they move to with their programming. With a number of bars and restaurants within walking distance, it's easy to make seeing a performance at the Massry into a true evening out.

As I was heading home, I passed the theater and saw on the marquee Mad Max was starting in ten minutes. Not the new Mad Max mind you, the original. Movies are meant to be seen on the big screen. Some are fine at home, but I don't have a man cave and I don't turn the sound up loud. Going into a theater is an immersive experience and really helps you to focus on the picture. Amazingly, even on a Saturday night, including myself there were only three people in the audience. And for a moment there I thought I was going to have a private showing. Part of that may be that despite the sign suggesting a 9:30 start time, the box office looked closed. And when I tried to suggest to the lady behind the concession stand that I'd like to see a movie, she didn't quite seem prepared to sell me a ticket. And when I asked where to head from there, she had to once again leave to find out. It was really quite odd. Also odd were the ratting and banging noises coming from the air conditioning grates in the ceiling of theater four. Once the action picked up, it wasn't quite as distracting as I had feared, but I hope they get it fixed. Much like I hope they get the theater cleanliness fixed. Because there was an empty soda can in the arm rest left over from a prior showing. Like I said, none of these things will prevent me from going back. I love seeing older movies on the big screen. But it could explain why the place wasn't more busy. I'll look forward to awarding this theater a fifth star as it grows and becomes a vital part of the community.

Great orchestral performers, but as part of their performances, they have, under the guise of…read more"music," special guest composers who stand at the microphone for the entire duration of their composition and blast their political ideologies from the stage, causing massive discomfort to those who disagree. What a shame for an otherwise great institution, but that ruins it all for those who aren't aligned with management's/sponsors' political views.

At the Palace, the…read moreSuperheroes concert was held at 3:00--- at 2:00 the instruments were available upstairs for the children to try. The Albany Symphony with David Alan Miller were the heroes this time. Friendly ushers gave the children passports so the children could identify each instrument they tried and put a sticker next to it. This is a very well thought out project for children to keep their interest while they are being exposed to a variety of instruments. Free t shirts were given to the children as well. The people who assisted the children with the instruments were patient, knowledgeable and very encouraging. John Keal Music Store was responsible for providing the instruments. Then the concert started---- fabulous ----and so informative. An opera singer appeared in several roles engaging the audience in lively banter. David Alan Miller comes flying out in a Superman outfit to the delight of all. HE IS SUPERB. He entertained, engaged and conducted for one hour--- a great time frame for children. He ran off stage at the end of the concert and personally greeted all on their way out. The show was 20.00/adults and FREE for children. May 4, 3019 will be the next performance --- May the fourth/force be with you. All the audience are encouraged to dress up and enjoy it all. Put this on your calendar for sure.

The staffing is limited usually takes a little longer to get checked in and get your snack. Plan to be there early if you dont want to miss out on the movie as they don't play a lot of advertising like their competitors. I end up using this rather than the regal that is near my home as its usually less expensive and also I end up getting some offers through my cell phone company which has a partnership through Atom which cost me $4. Even without the offer the tax are priced @ $8 for majority of the shows. Good place to come with the family, enjoy sometine in downtown Schenectady and get a bite to eat.
