I was riding the Courage Classic this last week and unfortunately had a tire blowout 3 miles from the lunch stop in Minturn. Scheels staff were manning the bike repair station at the lunch stop. Not only did they have a new tire that they put on the bike, but they didn't charge me anything for the tire and wouldn't even accept a tip. They saved my day and I am forever grateful! read more

First time at Scheels exceeded my expectations! Before you set foot inside, you can't help but admire the huge statues of famous people. There was someone at the front already greeting you, and almost every employee said hello with a friendly smile. There are so many opportunities to take pictures there like going on their awesome Ferris wheel, the aquarium display, and different displays to actually take pictures with. I had no idea there would be different departments. There was a coffee shop, toys area, candy shop, game and sports area, Colorado novelties area, and so much more. As a design stand point, the layout of the interior is just well thought out. Down to the flooring, space, and ambiance of the whole building. I was a bit surprised there wasn't an escalator and didn't have a chance to find the elevator. It does make you think that taking the stairs is a good way to get your steps in though. I did need a new pair of running shoes, and found this brand called Hoka. The employee who helped me was very nice, friendly, and helpful. She did inform us about signing up for some sort of Visa card to also act as a rewards card. Such an impressive store. I hate to say, but Dick's better watch out for this kind of competition! This store really deserves more than 5 stars -at least for their archery department. EVERY time I go in here I notice they are VERY well staffed. Not to the point where it is annoying, but the perfect balance where I can always find someone within a minute or so if needed. My highest praise goes to the ARCHERY department which likely has the best archery service in the whole city (small shops included as well). Specifically Ethan, the bow-tech who was simply amazing. The manager Chase was top notch as well - he clearly knows how to set the right standard for this department. I came in for a very simple fix with my bow's peep twisting (expecting to pay for it of course). They not only fixed that issue, they further secured my peep with a string color of my choosing (I went with red to match the string dampeners I have) - they also noticed my arrow drop was a little loose so they replaced that string with a new color of my choosing (red). Along the way they told me what there were doing and why it was safer or more effective to have it this way. Basically a full maintenance review on my bow, oh, and all for NO CHARGE! On top of ALL that, I casually mentioned that it looked like my D-loop was getting worn and Ethan immediately offered to replace it, for FREE. I spoke with the dept. manager Chase for a while during the last bit of my bow maintenance telling him about my current bow and what I was ultimately looking for in a bow. Knowing that I was at least a year away from a purchase he asked if I would like to try the bow I had heard about from friends, the Matthews V3. He and Ethan then proceeded to tune up a V3 to my settings for me to shoot since I said I'd be open to testing one out. He then spent a good amount of time with me on their indoor range letting me shoot it. This is all while knowing I was not going to buy today. The best part was that he said "when" I am ready to upgrade my bow, they will want to have me test a good handful of their bows like this before making a selection. This, compared to Bass Pro Shops " um, what bow do you want - and btw we don't sight it in" response when I went there a few months ago simply asking if they could show me (not test) a few bows. TLDR: This is easily the best for archery in the entire city hands down. They will do basic maintenance on your bow at no charge. They have very excellent prices and the BEST selection in town without question for new bows, targets, etc. I highly doubt I'll ever be going anywhere else (and I've been to many in town). read more

This place is fabulous. From the atmosphere to the staff. Bathrooms were clean. We were asked several times throughout our visit if we needed help. The selection of everything from clothing, sporting equipment, to firearms was excellent. They have a nice Playland for the kiddos. They have military designated parking for them that have served or are serving. They offer a military discount as well. The Cafe was nice as well. We will definitely be back. read more

I visited Scheels today to look at CCWs and vaults. The selections were amazing and really nice and organized. I found exactly what I had in mind for a small fireproof vault. Me and my friend also looked at CCWs to get ideas and to look at prices. Such a huge selection. We we helped by Kevin F. Who was so wonderful. He has extensive knowledge and patiently explained the various guns to us and let us hold them to compare. It's so difficult to decide on one. Came in yesterday as my wife and I wanted to get started in archery knowing very little about the sport in general. The Archery Manager, Chase Powers, and his tecs were amazing. He literally spent hours with us (this was on a busy Saturday) making sure we got fully outfitted with exactly what we needed. He never tried to sell us anything we didn't need or up-sell us on anything we didn't want. Walked away with a Hoyt Torrex and I absolutely love it. Brand new location this year. They have a huge two arch salt water tank to walk under while you wait in line. I've always loved Scheels. I live in Omaha but went out to visit my family in Colorado. This Scheels takes the cake absolutely well done. Only feed back would be the ammo section is poorly designed and needs to be more of an open concept. It's hard to shop I did pass on ammo due to feeling uncomfortable. Still a super sick awesome location that really pays tribute to military incorporated into their design! Love love love! read more

It's basically every man's dream come true. I was able to not only find cases and powder for my sniper rifle ammo, but a scope too! Usually it's difficult to see a scope before you buy but they literally have all of the best optics (and less expensive ones) all under one roof. They have every caliber and then some. Rare in these times. It's the best outdoor store I've been to. There's something for everyone there from guns to electric bikes to basically anything you could think of. It's extremely difficult to say something bad about this place. Prices are pretty competitive too! read more

This place is an experience that you can enjoy for most of your day. There are so many things for kids and families to do here beyond just the shopping. Both the exterior and interior of the store are gorgeous and the fun things like Big Buck Hunter, the ferris wheel, the candy store, the aquarium, and the statues outside make this more than just a store. I had a lot of fun and was also surprised by the selection of NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL, and NCAA apparel and merchandise. It was the biggest selection I have ever seen for both kids and adults at any sporting goods store. I found a great hat and was happy with that. Prices are a bit steep on a lot of things, but nothing too outrageous. read more

Keep in mind that I worked at this location and had a great reputation with 95% of the staff. I also left on good terms after two years. Recently I went in to do some socialization training for a dog and client. I arrived early and went in to say hi to a few cashier's and customer service and was holding a Herm Sprenger collar that they do not carry. The employee who oversees the cashier's approached me and questioned if I was shopping and the whole time looking at the collar in my hand. I informed her that Scheels doesn't carry this particular one. Also, I never even walked past the cashier's and had she checked with LP would have known this because I know the location of every camera because I worked in LP. I then went to the vestibule to wait for my client. A few minutes later I was approached by a store lead who asked me what I was doing there and tried to make casual conversation leading up to the collar I was holding and I again explained how they do not carry this specific collar. I couldn't believe that I was made to feel like a thief which took away some of the goodness I had for this store. I will continue to good there for dog training (I know their markup on goods) which is too high, and expect to be treated like any good customer in the future. FYI management, these actions basically equaled to a bad stop. Practice what you preach! Any LP that would have made this type of stop would have been terminated according to store policy. read more

A home decor shop with patio table and all kinds of lanterns, candles, serving trays, and accessories. A candy store, lego shop, and a very good cafe for lunch. I live in Oregon, but am visiting family in Colorado Springs. For Christmas, we got our teenage daughter a snowboard. I was interested in getting the snowboard at Scheels, but I was concerned that we would not be able to get it set up before leaving for Oregon in a couple of days. I spoke with Chris on the phone, who spoke with the service center to make sure it could get set up in time. When my wife and daughter came in, Chris knew who they were (remembering their names) before they introduced themselves. He was a knowledgeable guide to snowboards, helping them select the right (not the most expensive) snowboard, boots, bindings, and helmet for my daughter. He was not trying to upsell them, and delivered one of the best - if not the best - retail experience we have had. They walked out of Scheels with the snowboard (set up) in hand and ready to hit the slopes. Truly a superb experience, head and shoulders above other stores. Chris, and Scheels, is a gem. read more

I was super excited when I found out Scheels was coming to Colorado Springs. Unfortunately my excitement tanked when I found out this store isn't practicing safety or following state guidelines in regards to Covid-19. I saw more than fifty customers walking around without face masks in the short 20 minutes I was in the store. It's only a matter of time before this store has some serious outbreaks. Although the employees were wearing masks, several weren't wearing them properly (below the nose) and they definitely were not keeping a safe distance between themselves and customers. I was disappointed to say the least, I won't be visiting this store again until the pandemic is over. read more

bummer. brought bike in for 1) squeaking brakes and 2) brakes needed bleeding. waited 10 days. i had to call a few times to find out if it was ready from 7th-10th day. finally ready. went in and picked it up. said they bleeded the brakes, okay $60 for front and rear. i asked about squeaking brakes. they said "um, there is no solution to that". we just took it home. brakes are actually worse in squeak and absolutely worse bleed situation. googled it myself and found multiple solutions to remove pads, sand them down, clean with rubbing alcohol, and re-install, which fixed it. wished i saved myself $60 and 2 weeks, plus the trip to and from the store. so sad, a nice store, but totally incompetent mechanics read more
