Scheels is an employee-owned chain store that sells sporting goods for fishing, hunting, shooting, camping, hiking, cycling, etcetera. Scheels also sells clothing, shoes, and accessories for men, women, and children as well as other products such as home decor and lawn/garden supplies. I live in Pennsylvania, which does not have any Scheels stores, but I made an online order with this store in Appleton. According to Google, this Scheels store had the lowest price for a particular type of shirt from The North Face at only $17. I felt surprised and pleased that Scheels charged a $0 fee for standard shipping and handling. The next day, Scheels shipped my package via the USPS. A few days later, the package arrived at my house. The shirt was in excellent condition. I feel very happy with Scheels's product, price, and delivery. read more

Optics manager Rick Starosta is the best!!!! He knows his stuff and is happy to help. I had a huge wish list from Swarovski Optik but could not place the order directly from the company because the Austrian based website could not confirm my tricky address on an island off the coast of northern Maine. The Swarovski company directed me to Rick at the Appleton Scheels location and he was able to place a special order for me and route shipping through Scheels. Not only did Rick order the items that Scheels usually carries, but he spent the time researching my other wish list items and was able to special order them as well. This saved me a huge amount on shipping too. Scheels will go above and beyond to please their customers and has knowledgable employees who are willing to patiently build relationships with new customers like me, all the way in Maine. Me and my friend were testing a basketball out and we also were just walking around and pasted a employee and they had yelled at us, but other people had full football gear on and fighting and yelling but they only yelled at us. Let me start by saying their staff is so helpful. Was checking out some socks first and had someone help choosing the right wool socks. Then went to look at winter shoes. I forgot his name, sorry, but helped so much with bringing out shoes and different sizes to try to find the right fit. And we did! They have lots of great quality stuff. Keep that in mind when you look at the price. Higher than other places you could get similar stuff, but the quality here is very good. I will be back. read more

I ordered several products from the Appleton store online. I opened on of the packages and cut the T-shirt with the scissors I was using. I email customer service and asked if they would be willing to replace the shirt. Not really expecting them to do anything. About a week later I received a new T-shirt. Great Customer Service!!! This was my first time in a Scheels. I had a great experience there! An employee named Josh was super friendly and helpful. He was also very knowledgeable with first hand experience of the products we were interested in. Without his help we would nat have made the decision to buy a Helinox chair! We told the manager how helpful Josh was and he mentioned they buy their employees lunch when they are told how helpful their are. Great guy, great store! read more

I had never heard of Scheels until I lived in the Valley. It is comparable to Dick's, except in a much more convenient location (within the Fox River Mall.) I have been able to find everything from sundresses to my new ski jacket on sale here. It is a bummer that they do not sale skis, snowboards, etc. but not a huge deal. Other than lack of ski equipment, they have a great variety! My husband favors their gun selection and has not had any complaints yet, although he has mentioned their need to get new or different stock in lately. All of the staff that we have worked with has been a wealth of information and I do not think all of them work on commission (the firearms department, maybe.) At any rate, they are nice and knowledgeable and Scheels continues to get our family's business. read more

Check your receipt!! I walked out of the store and looked at my receipt. Over charged on TWO items! Won over by $10, the other at $5! Had to go back in and get fixed. The manager had to come over ride it and didn't even apologize or offer anything for inconvenience. The screens face away from you when checking out so you can't see what their ringing up. : ( read more

When I lived in WI, Scheels was always my go to place when I needed any type of active wear. I swear, every time I would go there, they had moved things around. So when I stopped in while visiting WI this last time, I was not surprised that what I was looking for was in an entirely different spot. Scheels has a lot of stuff but on this past visit, I could not find what I was looking for in the brand I wanted or any other brand (mid length compression/bike shorts). In the past, I would be able to find things in some plus sizes, and I hoped to on my recent trip. The type of length and sizes existed online and did not say anything about being online exclusive, but I could only find one brand of the shorts I was looking for in only a XL but they were the super short shorts. Nothing longer or bigger. I still prefer Scheels as I think their selection is better than other outdoor/sports stores and would suggest it over others, but I was disappointed after my most recent stop here read more

I find this place to be a tad pricey but I love the layout of the store and you can always find some outdoor gear here that you need. I like that they have a little cafe where you can get some pretty decent popcorn for .55 cents. Managed to find some good deals on workout gear here as well in the past. read more

Runners, this store rocks! I have been trying to buy new minimalist shoes and keep getting pushed back to the old traditional running shoes using the same outdated fittings. I reluctantly went into Scheels thinking they were too big to understand what I was looking for. Surprise they had a lot of minimalist shoes to choose from and turns out the salesman was a barefoot runner. Very helpful and I am very impressed. read more

Great place for swim suits. They have a wide selection of styles and prices. Many goggles to choose from adjacent to the suit area. The store staff just kept pointing out different models of suits for me to try on. Very high quality merchandise, with a sales rack to boot! read more

I had a special order for a jersey I ordered about a month ago. I called three times and no one really could find anything about my order and then was transfer several times to different people about my order. I feel like no one knew what to do about the status of my order and kept trying to find someone that was able to me out on it. The special order sheet too said that the order should be in within 2 to 4 weeks and it's been over a month and still have not hear anything. Good consumer service would have called up maybe the Nike store or where ever they order it thru and see what the issue is being and get back to me. I just could have honestly ordered it myself and have gotten it already. read more

I could spend days wandering around in Scheels. It's almost overwhelming. Runners, the shoe selection is fantastic (even barefoot/minimalist shoes...a pleasant surprise!!) and there is a room (not a rack, a room) of sale priced shoes). My friend buys her snowboarding equipment there every time she needs an upgrade and has never had a bad experience. Their staff is super knowledgeable and helpful. My only complaint (4 stars instead of 5) is that they have almost zero plus size athletic apparel...but neither does anyone else. It would be nice, though, if they could find a little room in their huge store for it! read more

when trying to sell a gun there don't even bother. The gun sellers will rip you off big time. They will low ball any guns you have. Rio you off and then sell them at a 65% mark up. Save your self the time and just go to Cabela's, where they treat you with more respect.
