Awesome dog park, lots of great friendly dogs, there is a little creek behind the dog park that for some reason my husky likes to jump into.

During quarantine, I've been trying to check out a different park each week. Symmes Park is…read moreactually a park that I've been to several times. I used to come here when I was a kid, as there is an amazing sledding hill towards the back of the park. They sometimes also have food rallies here during the summer. In the past, I've walked a little bit on the trails and enjoyed some quiet time on a park bench, but during my time outside recently, I've been able to explore this park a bit more. I had no idea how amazing this park is, and it is located right in the heart of Loveland! Technically, it is part of Symmes Township, but it is only moments away from downtown Loveland and Bike Trail. There is a nice trail that runs around the perimeter of the park. Some trails are paved, which makes it nice if you are taking someone in a wheelchair or a stroller. There are lots of hills, it is definitely not a level path like the bike path that continues staight for miles. It's great for a walker or runner, as it gives you the variation of terrain with uphills and downhills. If you can, look at a map before you begin your trail walk or run, as the main trail that goes around the perimeter of the park weaves in an out. Some of the trails go up by the picnic shelters and then back into the woods. I have lived in Loveland for years, and for some reason, I had no idea that one part of the trail connected to another part of the trail. Looking at the map really helped me. There is a map in the parking lot once you enter the park. There is also a dog park in the middle of the woods, off of one of the trails in the park. Again, I had no idea! You almost stumble upon the park, as you are just walking on a trail in the woods. There is an open clearing with a few trees within the dog park, but for the most part, it is an open space that is fenced in for dogs to run and play. I love my time walking here! It's a great opportunity to enjoy the fresh air and being in the woods without actually being in the woods!

The dog park is large and enclosed in fence, however it was busy so we did not take our dog into the dog park. There are also out door exercise equipment options, playgrounds, ponds with creeks, and a unique basketball hoop. Our favorite portion was a tiny bridge that you cross when hiking. The trails were well shaded. Perfect place for family outing, outdoor activity or picnic!

Take off that leash and let 'em run!…read more This is a great, and big, park for your dogs. They have three, or four, separate enclosures for the dogs to run. They're also categorized by the size of your dog or they have the big open section for any dogs. There are some obstacle type fixtures for the dogs to climb on and a few trees here and there for them to sniff around. There aren't many seating areas, but there are some and there are some covered seating areas as well for dog humans to sit and watch their furry friends running around and making new friends. It's a bit of a winding road to get there, but follow the signs and you'll find it. It's nice and quiet and your dogs are surely to have a good time. A few notes: - Occasionally they block out sections to allow the grass to grow. This is great and ensures there's always some nice green grassy areas to let your pups run. They take very good care of the grounds as well. - They have double entrances so you can reduce the chances of a breakout. - Keep your dog on a leash until you get into an actual enclosure. It doesn't matter if your perfect dog would never run. Others may. Also, don't be so sure that your perfectly trained pooch won't make a dash for a new excited friend they've never met. That overstimulation can be unpredictable when around a group of other dogs. - They have some drinking fountains for dogs as well. Bring your own bowl if you want to reduce any disease transmissions. - There are poop-bags available and garbage cans for your full bags. Your dog will poop. It's that simply. Bring your own bags if you have them. If you don't, there should be some there. - Clean up after your dog! I shouldn't have to explain this but you need to remember, dogs are running around here and so are their humans. Sure, you may miss one here or there, but for the sake of everyone else, try to clean up after your dog. If you're too good to do that, stay home. It prevents a mess as well as diseases. - If your dog doesn't play well with others, stay home or leave. We literally were coming in once and some people who were already there had a bit of a rambunctious dog. The dogs owner said, "you might want to be careful...he doesn't do well with other dogs". I looked at that as someone who is fatally lactose intolerant walking into an ice cream shop. Don't be ridiculous. This is a public dog park. If Cujo doesn't play well with others, YOU find somewhere else to go. Wiggly Field is free. Let's keep it that way. Take care of this gem and it will take care of your four legged little buddies. Would I go back? Yes. We go here as often as possible. Our little one loves it. She doesn't get to be around too many dogs so this is always a good time.

Full disclosure: I'm not a dog owner…read more I had my BF's dog for the day while he handled some family business. After we left the office I brought him down here since it's close to my house. I invited my friend and her dog but I was not aware there was a small dog and big dog area so we had to talk to each other through the fence. This park is HUGE. I've heard this floods and gets muddy and I can understand that a trip here can make for a messy dog. Thankfully, it was nice and dry when we went. There were so many dogs and my buddy had a good time running a playing. Dog owners did a good job of looking after their dogs and I only noticed one scuffle. I should also add people do a decent job of picking up after their pets and I only noticed one wayward poop pile. However, I did noticed people placed their poop bags on the fence which I thought was a little weird a gross. I was very happy to notice a walking path that I believe dogs are allowed on. Tyler (the dog) needs exercise I plan to bring him back for a nice walk. Our night in the big dog area was enough to wear him out!

Right across the way is the less busy one for those people who have dogs who are a bit anti social. There's water for the dogs and trash bags go pick up poop. My small complaint is the dog owners who go here. A lot of them let their dogs physically bite or swipe in a non playful ways and others do not pick up their dog's poop. Besides those two complaints I continue to bring my dog here because she loves running around and making friends.

It's truly a big, happy place for dogs! I've never seen so many happy dogs. Literally running, frolicking, rolling around enjoying themselves. Not only were the pets enjoying themselves, the owners were too. It has a real sense of community. People were friendly, they knew each other and each others pets. Very cool! What's really nice is the creative use of land. This was once a landfill. Don't worry, there are no foul odors! There are three areas. Two smaller areas, one with training equipment, a regular sized area and a huge hill. When I say huge, I also mean steep. This is a really steep hill. Luckily you have the option of staying on the flat areas where the two other enclosed areas are. All areas are grassy, offer seating and water. What's also nice is the walking path. The paved path is lengthy enough (6 acres of park space) to where it is great exercise for both owners and pets. The only downside is the hill is so big that you can lose sight of your dog. My dog was enjoying herself so much, she ran off with a pack of playful dogs. She never does this. I definitely got my exercise looking for her. So for exercise, a chance to meet other dog lovers I strongly suggest visiting this park. If you see a large friendly white labradoodle playing around, you've come at a great time. He's very playful!

The Park is adjacent to The Montgomery County Animal Resource Center on Webster St. Exit 62 on I 75.The Park is divided into three connecting sections plus has an agility course. Water is available throughout the Park. You can always help out filling the buckets! Normal rules apply. No dogs in heat. No aggressive dogs. No dogs under 4 months - dogs need to be vaccinated. As with many dog parks, there are the regulars. Most are welcoming. Most people are well versed in dog behaviors and don't freak out when dogs wrestle and play. The Park is large and your dog can run! Not to say that the dogs won't ignore all the space and play around your feet instead! The Park is built on an old ash mound as the County incinerated trash for decades. Because of that, there is little shade available as trees cannot be planted. There is a gazebo structure at top with tables. DO NOT BRING FOOD into Park. All tables and agility equipment are made from recycled materials. Great re-use of space.
