There is a difference! A lot of people are not aware of the difference between seeing a private…read morepractice optometrist and a retail chain optometrist. The difference is, when a doctor owns their practice, it's their name on the front of the building and the whole staff stands behind their name! Having experienced both types of offices, I am in my third year with North Phoenix Eye Care and have been very pleased with both my contact lens and eye glass experience. Their new North Phoenix office has a great, professional team of staff members, is fresh and bright, filled with all sorts of fun frames and conveniently located off the 101 loop and Cave Creek Road. The best part is Dr Siegel has state of the art optical equipment which allows a more in depth examination. This, in conjunction with knowing and understanding how to fit a multifocal contact lens, has me HAPPY! A multifocal contact lens allows your distance correction as well as reading correction, just like a pair of progressive glasses...but in a contact lens!

If patient already has been diagnosed with diabetes, why does he have to determine this diagnosis for himself? Then Dr came on phone, told me how busy he was & he didn't have time for this & hung up on me. As a bedside RN of 50 years, this was one of the rudest uncaring unprofessional Drs I ever spoke with. I didn't make an appointment with him!

I moved to Arizona for school out here. And as all of you should, I had to get my yearly eye exam…read morein! I did a ton of research around my area and this specific office caught my eye. I called in to ask them what insurances they accepted, how much their eye exams were, and if they were able to squeeze me in that same day (they did!). Out of all the optometry offices I've been to, this was the only office that has ample parking! Searching for parking at a doctor's appointment is just something I don't want to deal with! Scott greeted me with the most friendliest smile! He introduced himself, checked me in, and gave me a new patient form to fill out. As I was completing my form, Scott was extremely personable and made me feel very welcomed. Scott's laugh is contagious!! At the end of my appointment, I felt like this place was my home! Kathleen got me started on pre-testing and was super sweet and gentle! She always has a huge smile and that made me feel very comfortable there. Dr. Sarah Paikowsky is literally a hidden gem. I've never had such an amazing connection with a doctor before. Nowadays you see many doctors going in and out of patients' exam rooms every few minutes. This was not the case here. Although my appointment was roughly 30 minutes, Dr. Sarah stayed with me and was extremely thorough. She made sure I knew what she was talking about before I even left her office. She did an amazing job explaining what was going on with my eyes, gave me great suggestions on how to properly care for my eyes, and advice on what I should do to prevent my vision from getting worse. Dr. Sarah did something that nobody else does, and that was to show me my old prescription versus the new prescription. This clearly shows that it is a huge upgrade (bad thing for me because my vision got worse!), I can see 1000x better now! While waiting for my appointment to see Dr. Sarah, I was able to experience how Scott and Kathleen mingled with their patients. The whole staff has been here for many many years. You can tell by the way their patients interacts with them. This office is a hidden gem!!! They are incredible and so genuine. You can tell how passionate they are at what they do. They have such AMAZING customer service. If only I can bring them with me back to California!!

The first thing is to ask yourself why there are either five star or one star for this…read moreestablishment. This is a tell-tell sign. They charge extra fees for services they don't even properly provide and will nickel-and-dime you. I went in for a contact lens exam and was charged a contact lens evaluation fee, which felt completely unjustified because Holt didn't actually evaluate anything. After paying the exam copay, evaluation fee, and refraction fee, I noticed the prescription they gave me was only changed by 0.5 from my previous prescription. What bothered me most was that Holt never mentioned the prescription change, never explained why it was changed, and never offered trial lenses or asked me to test the new power to see if it worked better. None of that happened. When I got home and noticed the change, I called the office. They told me that if Holt didn't discuss it during the appointment, I would need to schedule another appointment just to ask about it. That's completely unacceptable. We were charged extra for services they claimed to provide but clearly did not. I would not recommend going there. If you do decide to make an appointment, call ahead and ask for a full breakdown of every possible charge, otherwise they'll hit you with unexpected fees.

I came in to purchase frames using my valid prescription and planned to pay privately. The…read morereceptionist came over twice to ask if I wanted an exam. I told her the first time that I was fine using my current prescription, as it's still valid and my vision hasn't changed. Despite that, she returned again to ask about scheduling an exam, which made me feel uncomfortable and pressured. It gave the impression that the office was trying to upsell unnecessary services because I was paying out of pocket. Some constructive feedback: I may have returned as a patient when my prescription eventually expired--but this experience made me not want to come back at all. I was ready to make a purchase, but instead I left.

This is my personal experience- if there was a zero rating available, I would have selected it. Let…read moreme start off by saying, in my opinion, the sheer volume of patients at this location you felt like a number. The way the front desk was set up, the staff clearly were irritated at the slightest question coming their way which made me feel horrible for the elderly patients they heavily rely on. You are quickly shifted from room to room being escorted from unhappy staff member to the next. When I questioned why I needed a certain procedure done, I was greeted with a curt response from the assistant which proceeded throughout the appointment. My visit with the doctor was subpar, as she mentioned there was "nothing there" when I had a bump the size of the moon in the middle of my eye. Cool.. I was sent home with drops and the same antibiotics I received from urgent care. Let's just say, she was gravely wrong and my condition was not taken seriously in my opinion. They failed to give me results of a full eye exam, never mentioned any changes in my prescription, and when I had to retrieve records that were supposed to be uploaded in the portal to see a different doctors office, they were no where to be found. When I contacted the office manager about this, and informed her I shouldn't have been charged for a full exam without a physician follow up, she proceeded to read off my prescription with no medical background to do so, then proceeded to tell me "you're not paying for it" insurance is. Hummm.. I'm sure the insurance companies would be happy to learn about that. Avoid this location at all costs! My experience was horrible and people deserve better treatment.
