So, I haven't gone back to Scentsational since the review I left 7(?) years ago. On a whim during an outing, my mom and I popped in and started to browse. I wondered if my experience would be the way it was multiple times in the past. Honestly? The girls working there were like, the sweetest, kindest people ever. Idk what the heck happened here--maybe Rude Bitches & Co were fired--but Scentsational customer service has totally done a 180. I asked one girl about coming back to make a custom fragrance (we were short on time), and she happily made me a sample. I rarely leave reviews but had to make an exception in this case. I happened upon this beautiful store while visiting family last week. While they retail several different lines and fragrances, it is their custom line that I would recommend trying as this is what truly sets them apart. My advice is that you don't smell the bottles on the counter but rather let them guide you toward fragrances that you might like based on the questions they will ask you. If you start smelling the bottles on the counter, you won't have the same ability to discern which of their recommendations you like best. I purchased 2 different fragrances Pura Vita and Beach Bum! Both are amazing and I will be ordering more asap. read more

Came here with a bestie. I was expecting terrible customer service as per the reviews. I was absolutely in shock. As I was treated with so much kindness and patience. This store is INCREDIBLE and so so fun! The best gifts and just so fun with great selections of jewelry, body care, socks, candles and fragrance. I made my own custom scent and it was so fun! The person helping me like knew just what to give me based on the perfumes I told her I loved. She blended them with ease and let me smell and change and ask over and over again with no attitude. Too many years ago that I care to mention I spent some time in San Fransisco. While I was there I picked up the most wonderful scent but used it judiciously knowing full well I'd never be able to get more ( unfortunately my jet had been in for service so flying out there to do some shopping seemed a little inconceivable). Well that would've been true if it hadn't been for Scentsational. I brought the bottle of what was left to the store and the owner who has a great 'nose' was able to replicate the scent perfectly! After creating my scent and then naming it, the ingredients went into my own personal file. Now my new body oil, bath gel and body lotion is available whenever I want . How cool is that?! Not long after, I decided to create an original scent that I had never been able to find anywhere. It was citrusy and clean, pretty much the exact opposite of the deep musky aroma of San Fransisco. I named that one after my dog. It doesn't matter how long you go between visits, as long as you're on file your scents will be available. As noted there is jewelry, candles and an assortment of trinkets also to be had. There is also mail order available so even if you move you can still get ' your ' lotions etc. read more

For years I used a perfume from the Canadian company Roots and would rely on online ordering and trips to the Canada pavilion at Epcot to restock. Then sadly, the scent was discontinued. I brought the small amount I had left to the shop and the owner was able to create a scent in the same vein. Although not completely identical, I liked the scent she created and am now on my third bottle. I get frequent compliments as well. I will definitely continue to repurchase! There's a small discount if you bring your bottle for reuse, but I've had repeated trouble with the spraying mechanisms on my bottles so I don't know if this is a quality issue or just bad luck on my part. On another note, I've never experienced any of the rudeness other customers have mentioned in their reviews. All the workers have always been pleasant and helpful on my visits. read more

It was kind of ridiculous how rude the woman working there was. It wasn't so much that she specifically did anything horrible, she just had a serious attitude. I used to go here years ago and really loved making perfumes, and I hadn't been in in about a decade. This time, I went in with a friend who wanted to make a perfume. As another reviewer said, she was totally unhelpful with making any recommendations when my friend said she wanted to make a new scent, she didn't explain the process or what kinds of scents they had or anything. I wasn't sure if I was just imagining it, but then I saw a number of other negative reviews on here! Rude staff!! It seemed like requesting scents was a chore and an annoyance to them. They hold a jar over the counter for you to smell as opposed to giving slivers of paper dipped with the scent (like they do in other fragrance venues so that you can contemplate the different scents). If you want a nicer experience with helpful and friendly staff, try the Soap Box in port jefferson. Same concept, nicer staff, and they have a frequent buyer punch card. read more

I grew up in Huntington and I always loved going into this store and making my own perfume. Today I went and as quickly as I got in I wanted out. The girls that work there were so rude and witchy. The one girl told me I could only smell four scents. I was ready to spend money but only ended up getting one little thing because I wanted to leave so bad. I'm pretty sure the one girl who was miserable to me had a necklace that said Annabelle on it. A few years ago I was in Salem and found a shop that made me the perfect scent! I had such an awesome experience there. I had no idea what I wanted. The woman asked me questions about what scents I liked and started having me smell scents she thought I would Enjoy and that could be combined. I left completely satisfied. I ran out of the scent and found Scentsatinal. I was so excited to go and have a new scent created for me. I arrived and was greeted by two college age girls. I explained why I was there. The girl that "helped" me was really no help at all. All I knew was that I liked one particular scent. I kept asking what she would recommend to compliment that scent and all her replies were idk it depends on what you like. She then told me that I could just buy the one oil I liked. I asked her what's the point of creating my own scent then. She replied well you can call it something else. This place has great reviews online and I expected more. I left purchasing the one oil(which was not created into my own new scent) I left disappointed. If I wanted one oil I could have bought that online instead of traveling 1/2 hour. I went this morning to buy a present. I was ready to purchase multiple gifts. When my daughter and I arrived, the woman looked annoyed that we were there at the open of the store. She did not say good morning, she did not say hello. This is the second time I've been treated very poorly by their staff. I was giving them the benefit of the doubt today; however, they were still not welcoming. There is no reason to shop small at their store when they are an incredibly rude bunch. (And I think that misses the whole point of shopping small-- where people are friendly and welcoming as opposed to big corporations.)I will take my business to other shops in Huntington. The people that work and own this store are beyond unprofessional and inappropriate. I had gone to the store with a friend to make a perfume and thought it would be a good idea for a friend's bridal shower. The woman I spoke to at the store never called me and once I did call her she informed me that the boss was "sick" and had been out with health issues - something an employee should not be repeating. Several calls were exchanged and each time the woman I spoke to became more rude. It finally escalated to the owner of the store speaking to me and said that weeks ago the person I had been speaking to said they did not do parties on Saturdays. When did the woman think the bridal shower was? Not only did the people at this store completely waste my time and energy they were rude about it. Before the owner hung up on me she screamed "we do not conduct business with individuals such as yourself." I will never step foot in this store again nor will any of my friends (many of whom planned on going). Scentsational lost out on a tremendous amount of business due to their inability to act in a professional and courteous manner. read more
