It's almost an entire city block, but there's not much there. It's got some aging toddler playground stuff, but nothing for older kids. There's a picnic pavilion with 4 tables (perpetual birthday parties here) but no grills or anything. There's tons of large trees, so the mosquitos are off the chain. The park is carved into little zones by all the trees that create private little nooks, so sight lines can be a problem for paranoid parents. It's a very attractive park, but frankly, not very functional. It's also worth noting it is NOT attached to the trail system.

Wide open field that is always maintained. The trail to the views has gotten wider. The back field is open enough for multiple visitors to be there are once, comfortably. I've had a picnic with my toddler here, while couples walked the perimeter, and others walked their dogs. There are 2 trails that will take you down to the mudflats. So far, I've visited on sunny mornings/high noons. I can't wait to experience a few sunsets here.

While I was there, a well dressed and groomed middle aged woman ran through making "donkey ears" at me and yelling obscenities for no reason. I found it amusing, but this was witnessed by a dad out with his 8 yo or so daughter. They should not have had to witness that. Honestly I think there must be better places to view Cook Inlet up close and personal.

My pup and I passed this park and were a little surprised it's actually a park given it's size and that it appeared to have little planning involved in sectioning it out. This park has very little surface area to play on, has a pond and creeks around it, and a few amenities. I'm not sure what it looks like in the summer, but in the winter there appears to have a loop one can do that crosses a street, and an offshoot that open up to an area with a hill. It's set among townhouses, suburbs, businesses, and schools and offers a small space for dogs and people to play. I liked the couple of benches and poop bag dispensers in this area. Small respite area in a sea of industrial businesses and small family housing.

It's a sloping piece of lawn that starts in downtown and empties out into the Shipcreek area. It's a great place to relax and picnic after a day walking around downtown, especially if the weather is nice. In the winter, you could probably sled down this...not sure if you'd get in trouble or not though. Don't tell 'em I sent ya!

There is no parking directly attached, but it is well connected to sidewalks and every aspect of the tiny park is perfectly and thoughtfully constructed to allow for the visibility if those memorializes. Most importantly, the individual names of those who have been the victims of violent crime are remembered here. Unfortunately the majority are Alaska Native women and children. The state of Alaska has a huge population with violence against this population. It's nice that the city and state dedicates resources to not forgetting.

This is a very small pocket pocket park, that if you blink, you will miss it. The main feature of…read morethis park is the Victims for Justice Memorial, which has been located in the park since 1994. The memorial has a lot of flowers place about and honors over 350 Alaskans that were victim of a violent crime. Their names are put on granite pillars that has a light that illuminates them at night. The park is named after Chester Hostetler, a former city manager, Agent Controller, and Councilman. There are a couple of benches in the park to sit on. There is metered street parking within a reasonable walking distance and commercial parking lots and garages available nearby. The park was renovated in 2017 to include an ADA-compliant walkway, new memorial pillars, and improved lighting landscaping. You may visit this park mainly to visit the memorial. It does have a pair of benches to sit on, and it touts itself as a peaceful park. It is not very peaceful though, due to it location right off a main drag. People that work in buildings nearby may find this place useful to get out of their building and hang out during a break or to eat lunch on a good weather day. I visited the park during early Spring, so I was not able to experience the park's beautiful landscaping since it had not bloomed yet. The pictures of it that I saw though looked pretty good.

It seems to be an urban camper hangout. There is not much here except for some open green space, some paved pathways and seat-walls. There is metered street parking, commercial parking lots and garages all within a reasonable walking distance. I do not see much utility for this park other than being a hangout spot, a spot to eat your lunch, and an occasional special event. The park has been known to host events such as multiple concert series daily throughout the Summer. I would be very open to attending an event here, but outside of that, I would probably pass. Hopefully, this park transforms in the Summer to something much better with flowers blossoming and a more robust maintenance schedule.

I am particularly fond of H3 - The Alaskan Hawaiian Raggae band is awesome (how's that for a hybrid?) 2. The summertime flower planting here is impressive. It's always fun to see what color combos the city gardeners cook up. This is also where they show off they fancy collection of dahlias every year.
