We were at the Margaret Eagan Sullivan Park during the winter about 10 years ago so our girls ice hockey team could play a little pond hockey. The Cali girls had a great time while their parents froze in the icy wind. There was a Zamboni on the frozen lagoon to surface the "ice rink"...complete with two goal nets, but no dasher boards...and to plow a huge figure 8 track that was bigger than a football field for speed skaters and casual skaters. Never shoot high and miss the nets because you will not see your puck again until the snow melts. The girls found lots of other people's pucks in the snow though. I wish I had brought my skates, the track was awfully inviting. Surprisingly, the track was not crowded at all and the girls had the rink all to themselves for two hours. The view overlooking the park was breathtaking, we even saw a majestic bald eagle flying overhead. read more
