I don't think I would've made it through anything. The staff at Ballard Family Mortuary specificallly Charisse and funeral director BJ provided my family and I with EXCEPTIONAL CARE. I can't thank them enough for the love, care, and support they have provided us during such a difficult time. From the first initial phone call... to the time of my fathers burial, BJ and Charisse made sure that everything was covered: flowers, program, obituary, and more. They both were so compassionate, kind, and very much patient. ( FYI- I am a type-A person, who ask's a lot of questions and clarifies more than once. ) Never once did I have to question about the care or the details of the services. In addition: My dad looked incredibly handsome and young in his casket- shout out to their make up artist! Most importantly, the services ran smoothly and I didn't have to worry about what was next. At the end of the services, I considered them part of my family. The only downfall is that we wished to have his funeral services on the weekend but couldn't do the burial due to low staffing at Haiku Memorial Park. Lastly, If you're looking for who to trust with your loved ones definitely consider Ballard Family Mortuary. I recommend their services and would give them a 10 star if I could.

Take My Death Away…read more For the past year or so, we had been planning a family vacation to Hawai'i to celebrate my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. But, as our luck would have it, literally two days before we're set to board the plane, my grandmother (selfishly) decided to pass away. Well, as one can imagine, this did not sit well with my mom, and she wanted to cancel the whole deal. After much cajoling, we were able to get her on the plane, and part of that making her feel better was my sister suggesting we have our own ceremony while in Hawai'i to honor her. This is where Kahu of Hawaiian Ceremonies took over. My sister contacted her, and she responded quickly over text. She then proceeded to interview my sister in order to get some background information about my grandmother to use in the ceremony, set up a time and date to meet, and the rest was cake. She even got the necessary permits to hold the ceremony at the beach. The ceremony was beautiful, succinct, and, best of all, made my mom feel better so she could enjoy the rest of her time on the island. **Easy booking, but a confusing and rushed ceremony experience**…read more I did quite a bit of research to find a company that was perfect for an intimate, 2-person 10-year wedding vow renewal, and I chose Aloha Fun Weddings. The initial booking process online was seamless. I received an email confirmation immediately, followed by a helpful payment reminder close to our ceremony date. Once the balance was paid, they provided clear details regarding who would be performing our service. However, things became confusing and stressful on the day of the ceremony. Rev. Paul texted me to introduce himself and informed us that our chosen location was experiencing high tide. He recommended an alternative beach nearby instead. We arrived at the new location and texted him to let him know we were there, only to find out he had shown up at our original site. Because of this mix-up, we felt incredibly rushed through our sunset ceremony because the sun was already disappearing. Additionally, there was a misunderstanding regarding pricing. I was under the impression that the minister's fee was separate, so we brought large cash bills to pay him directly. We then found out his fee was already included in our package price. Unfortunately, since there was no other option and we already had the cash out, we ended up giving a much larger tip than we had originally intended. While the administrative process was great, the execution on the actual day left us feeling rushed during what should have been a relaxed milestone celebration.
