I had supper this evening at Scarlet (on Spadina Crescent E). It was such a nice night so I sat on the patio. They had heaters above in case you found it cold. I ordered Roast BBQ Chicken with whipped potatoes and no veggies. It was a good dish. The potatoes were tasty and had chunks of potatoes. TADAAAA....my 500th Review!! March 19/19; This was an absolute delicious burger! One of the best burgers I've had in a while. The beef was cooked to perfection & with the truffle topping & the house made mayonnaise it was fantastic. Came with a side Caesar but something tells me that I should have ordered the kettle chips. The server Ashley was warm, polite & efficient. It would have been a 5-star but there was excessively loud construction going on that interrupted the meal. Hadn't been here since the renovations and the name change. Ordered a cup of Sante Fe Chicken soup and a Tex Mex Thin Crust Pizza and Sante Fe Salad to share. I had to send the soup back because it was like warm. They came back with it heated up but kept the same plate and spoon, which I thought a bit odd. The pizza was good, hot and very tasty. The salad was a bit of a disappointment and looked like it had just been slapped together. Our server was nice and did not mind fixing any issues we had. Tried to make a reservation via Open Table, but was told none existed so I took a chance. Restaurant was virtually empty, except for the patio (it was a beautiful day). I wanted to work, with my customer, so we sat inside at a large table so I could set up my laptop. Our server was patient and attentive! The It's Blueberry Thyme cocktail is to die for! After the 3rd one I had to stop. We ordered some poutine to start. The fries were hot, but I was disappointed the cheese curds weren't melted. The gravy was also just a little salty. I ordered the truffle burger for dinner - replaced the beef patty with turkey & replaced the fries with a salad.... OMG burger was amazing, even without the bun.... The shaved truffles, although steep at $3 extra, were amazing. The salad, chock full of goat cheese & cranberries was fresh and tasty. Ate one afternoon at Scarlet while in town. Its very pretty inside and also has outdoor seating with a great view. I had a nice bourbon drink from their drink menu and my girl had a frozen margarita. Both were very good. We went for the basic burger. We split it since we were not super hungry. I added onion rings instead of fries and while there were not very many they were really crispy and great. obviously home made. The burger itself had really shrunk I guess because when we cut burger in half there was only meet on on half. I called the manager over and he had them cook me a separate burger patty. Let me tell you that was the best burger patty ever. Cooked perfectly and so flavorful. Really it needed no bun. It was obviously hand formed and loosely packed. I needed a good, hearty breakfast before playing for singing exams in the afternoon! I ordered the Two Eggs Classic Breakfast--the eggs were cooked perfectly(over easy), the bacon was crispy with a hint of maple smokiness and the potatoes were perfectly seasoned and served in a mini ramekin). Our server was pleasant and attentive. Other breakfast items included Belgian waffles, pancakes, omelettes, and eggs Benny. Happy hour is great here. We had the fried pickles, red peppers zucchini tempura it was really good. Also avocado toast was great too. Spicy scrimp appetizer was way to spicy and just coated in siracha. I had the cauliflower steaks, a bit disappointing also coated in siraccha. My friends had the Yorkshire pudding wrap it's either with steak or roast beef he liked it!! I also had one of their salads very tasty. Another friend had veggie burger really good!! The fish crisp sandwich was fresh and really tasty (loved the bun, sauce, and fixings). I opted for the salad instead of fries and was happy with this choice - they didn't skimp on salad ingredients and the salad had just the right amount of dressing. I am usually very skeptical of restaurants attached to hotels, but I went out on the limb here because of a one constraint. I was very pleased. Restaurants attached to hotels are usually way overpriced or horrible, horrible excuses for restaurants; that is not the case for Scarlet. I ordered the steak and eggs, which are usually the higher priced item on the menu. I felt it was very well priced here. Glancing over the menu, all of their other items are also well priced. When I received my order, I was surprised by the amount of food on the plate. Not only that, but everything was delicious. The potatoes were perfectly seasoned and not over or undercooked. My steak was flavorful and cooked perfectly. On top of that, you could put everything on the fork, all of the flavors melded well. The service was great too! Well done, all. Went while staying at the Sheraton. The restaurant was virtually empty. We were a party of six and we ordered four appetizers and a few entrees. It ended up being an hour before we even got our appetizers and then another 30 minutes after that for our entrees. When they finally did arrive the food was either burnt or undercooked depending. I ordered the burger and a side of fries, although the burger was pretty good the fries were cold by the time that we got them. I waited an hour and a half for cold fries are you kidding me. Our group ordered 2 pizzas as well. One was burned to the point that the crust was black in a few spots and the other one had dough so raw that when a piece was picked up all the toppings slid off.... for every piece. If you are ever staying at the Sheraton I would recommend going around the corner to any of the other pubs/ social houses in the area. There is a social house right next door and Hudson's right up the street. read more
