I visited this establishment on a Saturday night and noticed very few patrons (a clear warning sign…read morefor a bar). The bartender continued to carry on a conversation with other customers while I waited patiently to be recognized. He eventually came over and stood in front of me without speaking (warning sign number two). I requested a beer menu which he pointed out was on the wall. He kindly let me sample 2 beers. I requested a wine menu for my wife and he listed the varietals available. I inquired about the cost of the Pinot Grigio. He apparently had to go find the the manager and came back to tell me the price of the Sauvignon blanc. I politely pointed out that I wanted the price of the Pinot. He seemed visibly frustrated (as he looked like it was a burden for him to walk that much) and had to go find the manager again. He poured the beer and opened the bottle, throwing away the cork. I asked about the possibility of corking the leftover and he seemed to fish the cork out of the trash, pushing it back into the bottle without offering a wine glass (the third warning sign). I gave him my credit card and as he rang up the sale, I inquired about setting up a tab since he didn't offer to do so as most bartenders will. This was clearly too much for this poorly trained millennial and he again had to get assistance from the manager. Not being able to control himself, he muttered "I guess he's never been to a bar before" loud enough for me to hear, obviously upset that I did not request a tab before he rang in the sale. I asked him to repeat what he said. He of course had misplaced his cajones by then and denied saying anything. The manager, looking like Large Marge from Pee-wee's Big Adventure, naturally failed to try and resolve the situation and took back the drinks without giving my credit card back until asked. I sarcastically thanked them for their customer service and went to leave. Naturally, one of their few regulars had to throw in his 2 cents in and followed me outside. This little bald man with his pit bull said that "maybe the problem is you". I replied "maybe" and walked away with my wife. He followed behind making fun of my wife's gait (she limps from prior surgery for bone cancer) and threatening to push her over. As he was obviously all talk and no action, I ignored him as we walked over to the Canon Commons for the concert. Of course he also showed up there, but by then he also had misplaced his man parts and didn't approach us. So a word of warning to potential new visitors - DON'T.

Not a single complaint from anyone! The food was incredible, with a tasty variety of appetizers like fried pickles, quesadillas, salad, chips, and jalapeño poppers--everything was a hit. I personally enjoyed a favorite of mine, a buffalo chicken wrap which was full of delicious flavors and ingredients. We were able to provide drink tickets, and the selection--from ciders to sour beers--was top-notch and well-loved by everyone. The space itself is warm, welcoming, and perfect for larger gatherings. The assortment of board games was a hit amongst our crew. I couldn't recommend Creatures of Habit more--whether it's for events, hangouts, or anything in between. Thank you again! We're already looking forward to our next visit.

The parking lot tailgating before dinner is half the experience. Where else can you sip a drink next to a pickup truck, make friends with complete strangers, and then walk inside to eat a meal that makes you question every life choice that led you to lesser restaurants? The food is absurdly good. The famous Perkinsville Pork deserves its own state holiday. Portions are generous, flavors are bold, and the menu somehow manages to feel both elevated and unapologetically Hoosier. Service was friendly, the atmosphere was chaotic in the best possible way. Everyone having a great time. Come hungry. Come early. Bring a folding chair for the parking lot. Leave wondering why every restaurant isn't this much fun. 10/10. I can definitely understand why people will tailgate just to get in for dinner. We started off with the meatballs, the pork loin, and the pierogies. For my entrée, I got the pork loin as well because it was so good as an appetizer, and before that I started with the tomato soup, which was also excellent. Addison was our waiter and was extremely attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. We had a party of over 10 people and he handled it flawlessly. I watched as people took their first bites. Forkfuls paused mid-air, conversations instantly ground to a halt, and eyes widened across every table. Jake Burgess and the crew from the Burgess Restaurant Group weren't just catering an event; they were executing a masterclass in craft for a crowd without taking a single shortcut. "You have got to try this," someone blurted out to my left, leaning across the table before even finishing their bite. "I'm tellin' you, Jake and his team don't miss," another replied. "Between FoxGardin, The Den, Bonge's, Carnegie's... it doesn't matter which spot it is, they nail it every single time." Taking it all in, it hit me why they stand so far apart. In a world full of safe, forgettable catering, Jake and the Burgess Restaurant Group served up the kind of deep, craveable food that ruins standard dining for the rest of us. It's the kind of cooking that makes you immediately start planning your next trip to one of their spots before you've even finished the meal in front of you. A massive, heartfelt shoutout to Jake Burgess and the entire Burgess Restaurant Group: FoxGardin Kitchen & Ale, FoxGardin Family Kitchen, The Den, Smoky's Concession Stand, Bonge's Tavern, and Carnegie's. We weren't going to get an appetizer but the bone marrow fries looked so good in pictures that we had to try them. They did not disappoint. Very large serving and extremely flavorful. Easily an appetizer for 4 or more people (there was only 2 of us so we brought some home). My dining partner is not normally a fries person and she loved these. For entree, my dining partner had today's special which was a shredded chicken sandwich that had a jalapeño cheese sauce and the house chips. She said it was very good and again half the sandwich came home. I had their breaded tenderloin which was very good, with nice breading to meat ratio and was a bit larger than the bun. It came with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. It came ala carte with no sides. Service was excellent, exceptionally friendly and really took care of us. One of the best waiters I've come across. Inside is a bar/pub like feel. We opted to eat in the air condition enclosed "patio" type area which had a bit more light, but was also noisy today due to the tin lined walls/ceiling and another group that was quite loud. Made it a bit hard to converse. Normally don't think this would be an issue. While not tons of items on the menu, the selection was quite varied and you could really splurge on a filet or other such dish and really go all in for a more lavish dinner or have a burger or tenderloin, all at any time of day. Parking was right in front of the restaurant but could see it being a bit tight on a busy day.
