In the case of Anton, he is getting my highest endorsement I can give. I just had my first (of many to come) massage. He took a good history and listened to what I said. He is as far from cookie-cutter as possible. I felt like I had a totally customized experience. All through the massage, I felt present and in touch with the experience, even when it hurt a little bit! At the end, I practically floated out of the room. He showed me a stretch he wanted me to do, but I was so blissed out I may have to get a refresher demonstration! I have been looking for a good massage therapist for years. I found several disappointing ones, some decent ones, but Anton is the real deal. I am already talking him up to others. My only hesitation in recommending him is that I don't want the word to get out too much or else I won't be able to get an appointment! He really is that good!

DenAsh Massage shares some space inside a medical building. Plenty of parking in the private lot. The property is older and just needs a facelift. Be careful of pot holes. We split up into separate rooms. I later found out that hers was 1/3 of the others size. Mine was large enough for a couples massage. She also said the towel warmer was not working in her room. Once I turned over, I was draped with a warm towel on my neck, shoulders, and back. The heat helped to start loosening up those muscles. I was a little put off by choosing my own scent of oil that would be used during the head and face aromatherapy. Low light atmosphere, trying to read and smell bottles with the aid of a cell phone flashlight. I would prefer 2 choices or an unscented. Not twelve. Very nice massage. For background: trying acupuncture was a last-ditch attempt to address lower back pain I've had for years, which was sometimes so severe I couldn't sleep. I'd seen doctors, tried meds, done PT, you name it. My new insurance covered Sean's, so I gave it a shot - and I didn't have back pain again for months. MONTHS. Now I make an appointment whenever it starts up again, and it's gone by the time I leave. Jen is direct and knowledgable, she checks in with me throughout the treatment, and I thoroughly enjoy our conversations. Big fan. Also, I said I get the occasional massage, right? Jen's are great, but today I went to Sean for the first time, and I am SHOOK. As long as I can remember, moving my neck a certain way caused intense pain. The massage was a little intense - Sean did check in with me several times - but I suspected I needed the higher pressure, and I was right. I walked out of there, moved my neck, and...nothing. No pain. For the first time in my life. I feel like I've touched Christ's robes. I'm not the kind of person who cares what a massage office looks like. I've been to a lot of massage centers/spas, and I've learned that how fancy a place is has nothing to do with how effective they are. As long as it's clean and comfortable, I'm good, and Sean's is very clean and the rooms are usually at a good temp (and if they're not, just ask, and they'll get you a heater or fan). That said, I get that some people do care, so I'll say that most of the rooms are brightly lit and there's no ~ambiance~ extras (plants, candles, whatever). In sum: they're professional, clean, affordable, and SUPER effective. I'm moving a couple hours away soon, and honestly, I'll probably make the drive to keep coming here.
