The timing was tricky since it had to be coordinated with the paving company redoing the drive. What started with a few partial outages at our house grew to multiple partial outages per day. I got ComEd to roll a truck after dark and the lineman said the meter box/raceway was scary bad and needed to be replaced ASAP. He wouldn't even put the cover back on. He said, "If you hear popping or a loud boom, call 911 and have them cut the power to your house." Terrific...short night of fitful sleep last night. First thing the next day, Mike responded to my voicemail. He understood the issue, & had dealt with it before. Unfortunately, he was booked and it was supposed to rain the next day. Micheal was the electrician who was suppose to finish our home over the summer. Let's start off with the no show but did call that he pulled on my mother a couple of times over the summer, stating he'll be there a certain time having her take the day off work just so he never shows. Moving on to the excuses, he brought every excuse on the book every time he wouldn't finish a job or unable to do a job. From we just changed management to +5 new people, to I don't have enough workers, it's summer and my workers are on vacation, i don't have the proper gear, I got called into a another home, had to finish this other job at this other home, too far away, we're trying to finish a bunch of other homes. I could go on forever. But what's really bothering me is that he left basically half the home with out electricity. We've been using extension chords across rooms for almost 6 months now. I trusted him as he gave me his company's info (how I'm here) his phone number, name and all stating that we WILL finish the job. Well, it's winter now Michael, and whats the excuse now? He installed the cable jack and cleaned up as he went. Very friendly and professional! Almost a year and a half ago my 89-year-old father, who lives in Illinois, called me in Michigan on a Sunday night to tell me that his furnace wasn't working. it was early January so it was very cold, and he told me that his house was uncomfortable. Being 200 miles away from my father makes calls like this especially difficult, and I was starting to panic trying to figure out what could be done! I was extremely fortunate to find Sayers Electrical Service on Yelp. The reviews were overwhelmingly positive, and all of the good comments about Mike convinced me to give him a call. Mike told me he would go check out the problem, and was at my father's house within the hour. He quickly found the problem and was able to come up with a temporary solution. He returned a few days later to address the electrical problem that was being caused by a space heater my father was using. Mike also told me that we needed to replace the breaker box because it was not up to code; he did that job for my dad also. His prices have always been reasonable, and his work has always been excellent. On other occasions when my father called me to report that something was wrong with his furnace, Mike went to investigate, regardless of whether it was on a weekend or after 5 PM. It has given me real peace of mind to know that Mike will be available to check on my father with one phone call. Mike is a genuinely nice guy! He is honest, highly dependable, compassionate, and an excellent electrician who is very reasonably priced! This review is long overdue, but I gotta say Mike was awesome! He agreed to come out on a Sunday morning to address a few issues. We had a nasty snow storm that Sunday morning and Mike was right on time. After swapping out a ceiling box, crawling around a dusty old attic, changing a few switches and installing a new ceiling fan; the job was done and Mike was on his way. Pricing was very reasonable, considerably cheaper than I was quoted by other companies and the fact that he did all of this in the middle of a snow storm was just great! I'm sorry I cannot agree with the other reviews. Mike did not do what he said he would do for the price quoted. He had many excuses for not doing the work we agreed on. He stated he never charges more than the price he quoted and proceeded to charge me $50 more than he quoted. I would not use him again or recommend him to others. read more

Mike Sayers is dishonest. We have a pending project that he signed a contract in 2016 and it is still not done. Repeatedly blew us off. Maybe he can only handle small handy man type/scope jobs. Changing the wiring for a building or a house is not his forte. Does not have the personnel nor the inclination to get his job done on time. read more

How does this guy have so many five star reviews? I had him install three ceiling lights and replace two existing lights on the wall. 1. $800 for about 3.5 hours of work. I had bought the lights. He only used some cable of his own. I doubt the cable was worth hundreds of dollars. He literally charged me $250 per hour of labor. 2. He cut a huge hole in one of my walls, and left me to fix it. 3. Every other word that came out of his mouth was a curse word. He even started talking about nasty stuff while my wife and kids were around. I will never hire this guy again. I recommend you look somewhere else too. There are good people on this earth and Mike is one of them! Out of no where, we lost power in the the entire house. I tried resetting the circuit breakers to no avail. The sun was setting and I knew I had to get help quickly. I called one company who was going charge $280 just to walk through the door.. We really tested the diagnostic capabilities of the Sayers team over Christmas. We realized we had an intermittent short somewhere and did some preliminary diagnostic work ourselves to figure out it was not an emergency but something that needed to be looked at. We also realized we needed professional help. We called Mike just after Christmas and set a time a couple of days later. On that morning he was an hour or so overdue when I called and found he had gone to help a lady with young children and no power. I think it is good to know if you are in a situation like the lady with no power Mike will fit you in. He arrived to us quite soon after and his partner soon after that. The two of them started tracing the wiring from the panel to figure out where the circuits went. They took off covers from box after box to follow the wiring colours and conduit through multiway circuits getting progressively more perplexed as everything checked out. All of this was done with a lot of it live and with an audience of curious onlookers asking stupid questions that were answered very politely. Eventually by a process of elimination it turned out that an outlet socket pair had been replaced where there happened to be two circuits using it. The replaced outlet was installed as from the store without breaking the connection between the two sides. This only became active when a certain combination of multiway switches was activated. That would have been OK but the two live feeds to the same box happened to come from different phases so there was a 240v differential created that was blowing the breaker. This took the two of them about 2.5 hours to find but in that time they had effectively mapped the entire contents of the wiring for most of the ground floor. I was really quite impressed that they got there. It was a very tricky problem to diagnose with the number of circuits and switches involved and all of it hidden in the walls.. They tidied up everything perfectly before they left and billed us at an hourly rate that was quite reasonable. It cost more than we bargained for but the work needed was much more than anticipated. I would use them again. They were quite professional but also fun to interact with and as I mentioned before coped with a lot of I am sure unhelpful suggestions. read more

It's good to know that there are still some old school tradesman like Mike out there. A vent cleaning company blew one of my breakers with their equipment and we found Mike on yelp. After I read the reviews I told the vent cleaning company to call him so he could repair the breaker. Mike showed up within 90 minutes, got the work done immediately, and even changed an outlet and a light bulb that I gave up on because of it's location. We discussed the condition of my breaker box and he said he could replace it. Because our schedules didn't align perfectly he agreed to come over very early in the morning on a Saturday to perform the work. He estimated it would take 5 hours and he was done in 3. He's prompt, honest, and performs great work at a fair price. In addition to all of this, he's very funny and respectful of your home. If it was later in the day I would have offered him a beer but most people don't start drinking before 10am. read more
