Good service. Loud bar. Fun decor. Tasty food, that was delivered quickly to our table.

The biggest issue I had with this pub was that it was packed, and the fact that it was packed stayed with it right up until it was time to close. That meant that not only couldn't I find a seat (inside or out), but if I turned my back one a second, any spare seat I could see would immediately vanish. Look, that isn't necessarily the pub's fault, but I do prefer quieter pubs, particularly pubs whereI am able to sit down and read. There being noise is okay, but as long as I could sit down, which is something that I couldn't really do here.

Used to be a regular of mine when I was working in Paddington. It's a lovely bar for a pint or a bottle of wine after work. There's a nice seating area, although it can get quite busy on a Friday. Food wise it's not cheapest but very good quality pub food. I had the nachos which are totally yummy and also tried the fish and chip board which was really good value and super tasty. We got chunky fish fingers, fish sliders, tripped cooked chips and breaded calamari and some gherkins to garnish. Wine wise they have a good choice and if you buy two large glasses, you can get rest of the bottle free which is a nice touch. If you want a friendly pub with quick service, good food and a well stocked bar, pay this place a visit!

Sawyers Arms is a popular, busy traditional pub in Paddington, just 2 minutes from the station. Like (all too) many pubs in central London it is now owned by Greene King brewery, which of course entails the dominance of their beers on tap, but - thankfully - there's also a selection of guest ales. The pub is spread over a number of rooms on two levels, and there's a small outside seating area on the street, too. You will find Sawyers Arms to be extremely busy in the evenings, so you may find it hard to secure a table inside at peak hours. The food is simple and streamlined. This is one of at least three Greene King pubs within a three-minute radius (another one is just on the other side of the street). Many Paddington fleabag hotels are located just around the corner, so it may be a good place for a final pint before you turn in for the night.

This is the second time I've come here now on as many trips. I really like this place - it's quick, the food is great and the Guinness is smooth. The atmosphere is laid back and friendly, and the servers are kind and quick. It's the second time now that my disposable water bottle has disappeared while I was ordering! :) It's all good, I'm sure it looked like garbage. I will be back again, I am happy here.

Nice pub to stop at on the way to Paddington. Good food for a decent price in a tourist area.

Remarkable, he scored and I literally walked around the corner and saw the long line to get into the pub first. I was seated immediately, however, and proceeded to enjoy a traditional Sunday Roast. Room was very pleasant (there are so many I got lost returning to my table from a bio brake. Roast was very good ( but no Lawry's) and the sides excellent. Could not decide if my favorite was the roast potatoes (crispy outside soft inside) or the glazed carrots. Yorkshire pudding was good but again, I am to used to the Lawry's and this is a different style. Peas were, well, peas, but very fresh. The sticky toffee cake was excellent and the Guinness fresh, creamy and a proper pour. Good thing because the selection of winners by the glass and half bottles of wine were both a little thin. Overall wine list was good but I was alone and not up for drinking a full bottle by myself. Overall, very enjoyable and to judge by the crowd and difficulty in getting a reservation, one of the more popular in town.

The history alone makes it worth visiting, and the location is perfect if you're exploring the area. It feels very classic London in the best way. We stopped in for a pint and honestly... the whole after-work beer culture over there is something I really need to bring back with me to the States. The beer was great, the atmosphere was lively without feeling overwhelming, and it just felt like one of those places where people naturally gather and stay awhile. Definitely worth stopping into if you're in the area.

Two story space - the ground floor feature the bar and handles walk in lunch; the upstairs is a dining room for those with reservations. Fun fact, as part of the history, the pub used to be the host of bare knuckle fights and had regulars like Charles Dickens. Wildfarmed sourdough - served with whipped salted butter and Guinness butter. Well toasted bread and the butters with salt were well made. Fuller's London Pride marinated steak and ale pie - served with seasonal veggies and red wine gravy, as well as either mash potatoes or triple cooked chips. If there is one dish London does really well, it's their pies. It was beautifully made and loaded with steak. The red wine gravy was decadent and added a perfect amount of moisture to the pie. Triple cooked chips were perfectly crispy but fluffy on the inside. Corn fed chicken breast - served with garlic and sage butter, mash potato, cavolo nero, and crispy onions. Only took a bite of this as it was my partner's dish but the bite of chicken I had was very juicy and well seasoned.
