I really am not sure where to begin with this review. I did have some positive experiences, there…read morewere precautions in place for COVID, the facility itself was very nice and clean, and I had a positive interaction with the younger Dr Botts who saw me. Despite these things though, I have not had a positive experience here. My first major problem was that I had never been to an optometrist or had an eye exam (possibly younger that I don't remember), and they did not prepare me for this visit. They dilated my eyes, which they needed to do, but did not warn me that I would need someone to drive me or provide any sort of eye protection afterwards. I live an hour away and it was a very awful experience driving home with the sun sensitivity and reduced vision. My second major problem was that upon my second visit to retrieve my glasses, that I picked out and signed paperwork for while my eyes were dilated, the glasses themselves did not fit very well. Which that is not a big deal in itself, but they adjusted them a little and I did not know what to tell them when they asked what was wrong with them, because they thought they looked fine. Eventually I begrudgingly said "they're okay I guess" and left when I could not figure out how to explain it to them, since I've never had glasses before. As soon as I arrived home, within a few seconds of seeing me with the glasses on my wife could tell they were crooked. The worst thing about this situation though is the difficulty my wife faced when trying to talk to them about it afterwards, as I was very upset about spending 140 dollars on glasses that don't fit properly. She called and talked to the technician that assisted me and told them about how I was upset and dissatisfied with how they felt and that this is a hard transition already. Without confirming who the client actually was, they said "they did fit, I adjusted them when he came back, and I wouldn't have let him leave if they hadn't been right." We had planned on going back with another appointment to get this fixed, but we don't see any positive solution possible in this situation. There wasn't any empathy or partnership in resolving this situation and so we'll be going elsewhere.

We arrived at 9:00 for my 9:25 appointment for Cataract surgery. I wasn't taken in until 11:20. I then spent another hour and a half in pre-op being prepped and waiting for surgery. When the doctor finally came in to see me, he did not introduce himself or speak to us and proceeded to look at my eye. My wife asked him if he knew who I was to which he replied, "I'm about to". He then looked at my wristband to see my name. Over concern about my diabetes and the fact that I hadn't eaten in fifteen hours, she asked him for the reason for the delay having been there nearly four hours. He could provide no answer and became nearly belligerent with her. How can a doctor who is about to perform surgery not know the name of the patient he is about to operate on. After another half hour, when completely prepped for surgery, Dr. Huffman returned to inform us that he did not feel comfortable performing the surgery as he was so shaken by our previous discourse. He told us that pre-op staff told him of private conversations my wife and were having, that they overheard. He further stated that if anything went wrong with the surgery he was concerned about a lawsuit. In our lives my wife and I have never even considered a lawsuit for anything. It was highly inappropriate for him to bring up potential lawsuits prior to performing my surgery. In my 77 years I have never dealt with a doctor who was so rude, confrontational and unprofessional. We are also unhappy with LCSS. While the LCSS staff were pleasant and efficient, why are they eavesdropping on private patient conversations and reporting them back to doctors? Neither Dr. Huffman nor anyone from LCSS could provide a reasonable explanation why a 10-minute procedure would take upwards to four hours. Going forward my wife and I will have nothing more to do with Huffman & Huffman nor Lake Cumberland Surgery Center.

Apparently they had about 15 people scheduled for 8:30 am. We had to wait for almost an hour to be seen. Today I had an diabetic appointment for 8:30 am and again the waiting room was standing room only as all the chairs were filled. I was the 9th person to check-in this time. After waiting for over an hour, I asked about how much longer is the wait. She checked and said there are three more people ahead of you. Due to what the Dr needs to do I cannot give an idea of how much longer you will have to wait. I said: "Apparently the doctor doesn't want to see me. Goodbye." Though the doctor is good. Don't go unless you are ready to wait for up to two hours after your appointment time.

Dr. Cook has a great knowledge of the eye and all that entails and in his ability to make his findings well understood by the patient. There is no time constraint when he is with his patient. He is very personable and puts the patient at ease, feeling that he is in the best caring hands available. I am a retired Registered Nurse and am perhaps very alert to how I am cared for. I can tell you, without reservation, I have never had better care or felt more trusting in what I am told in regard to my condition. I cannot recommend him high enough. He is a Blessed man and the area is very fortunate to have him as a physician and an individual.

I went in on 09/07/2024 for an eye exam and also bought a pair of glasses. Ms Joann was very helpful and pleasant as was Dr Emily Skully. Joann correctly figured my cost and I paid that day. One month later I received an additional invoice stating I still owed $161.40. After a 4th notice in early December and a threat to collect. I once again contacted Ms Joann in the Boone office. She assured me I only had to pay the original cost on 09/07/2024. She also found that her billing department refiled differently which was in error. Long story short, it took me several calls to billing over a period of another 4 months. Each time I called I got.the same story from each different person. It was turned back to my insurance and they were still waiting on them to respond. Even though my insurance stated the they did received the claim 3 months after it was filed (or so I was told), and replied 2 days later (6 weeks ago). During my several calls to billing, I had asked to speak to a supervisor, the standard response was that the super was busy but would call me back ASAP. 8 times and I never received a call back. After so many calls I was finally able to reach someone with intelligence. They did not resolve my issue so I once again I contacted Joann in Boone. She kept me.on the phone.as she personally rectified the situation and was able to resolve this and issued a refund that day. Finally 8 months later it was done. The billing department I had to deal with all those months were the most rude, incompitent, and noncaring I have ever seen in my over 70+ years of living. Thanks to this experience, I will never use this company again. Amen

Now I can't say enough good things about my experience with them! Dr. Sullivan and Dr. Henson were both thorough, competent, and professional. The eye exam I received there cost half the price of any other local places, yet was the MOST comprehensive eye exam I've ever had. I've been wearing glasses for over 40 years, so that's saying something! I had the pleasure of dealing with Brandon for fittings and measurements. He was determined to ensure that I was satisfied with my purchase, that I had the best possible fitting and vision possible. You would be hard pressed to find a better person to deal with. The entire staff at Blue Ridge Vision knows and understands that your optical purchase is an investment, an investment in your safety, your livelihood, and your total well being, and they treat it as such. I have told anyone who will listen how great they are, and if I ever need glasses again, that is where I will go, as long as they are there. Thank you Blue Ridge, I can see, and I LOVE my new glasses!
