Located at the Fultonville TA Travel Center (Truckstop) off NY Thruway Exit 28, Miss J's Diner is…read morethe on premises full service American restaurant which serves all day breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The place was formerly Country Pride Restaurant, which is also at other TA Travel Centers around the country. The place still has that 1990s atmosphere which has plenty of booths, table seating, and counter seating.
The menu is pretty basic diner fare including all day breakfast (egg plates, omelettes, breakfast burritos, biscuits & gravy, pancakes, French toast), appetizers, smashburgers, handhelds, salads, entrees (meatloaf, fried cod, fried shrimp, grilled salmon, NY steak, country fried steak, pork chops, fettuccine alfredo) and desserts. The prices are moderate. They also offer $6 Happy Hour Specials (3-6pm weekdays) for mozzarella sticks, wings, jalapeno poppers, chicken quesadilla.
I stopped by Miss J's Diner for a dinner stop recently. I sat myself at a booth near the back window overlooking the parking lot. I was given a two sided menu to look at and requested an ice water. I ordered the Grilled Cajun Salmon ($17.89 plus tax) with Mashed Potatoes & Gravy and Cole Slaw, which came out very hot in about 10 minutes. The Cajun salmon filet was a good size which was very tender and flaky and had that nice spiced kick. The mashed potatoes were soft & chunky with a brown gravy. The cole slaw had shredded cabbage, red cabbage, & carrots in a light dressing, not too sweet.
I was all set after I finished the entree and given the check "SEIZE THE DAY" with Toast QR code, which was $19.33 with tax and before tip. I was able to quickly settle the check online and headed back on the road.
