Decided to try a new Thai spot after having to wait for over 5-7 minutes to order a drink at SoHo…read moreThai on Carmen street.I was bummed that I had to wait so long to get a drink or any service at all and wasn't in a very patient mood to wait, so I left and continued on. I decided to try out Santiago Thai does it have the same reading as so home on the web. The natural mango juice at Santiago thai is not good. It tasted watered down and isn't even half as good as the Loosa juice back at home that I'm used to. In my confusion and not looking right at the menu I mistakenly ordered the curry Thai or it was miscommunication between the chef and me. I meant to order the pad Thai with the noodles and that's what I was looking at and I thought I had pointed to it when he asked, I might have pointed the wrong thing. They brought me the curry Thai and it looked weird and funny and not what I was expecting at all. The chef ended up taking it away and changing the order to the pad Thai for me without any issues. I also asked if I could get a water with gas. I told him the mango juice was awful and that it didn't taste right. He switched my drink and brought me a water with gas instead. I ordered medium spicy pad Thai and it's barely passed as spicy. I ended up having to put a lot more chili pepper on it. The sauce for the pad Thai doesn't taste right to me, it's missing the lemon. I asked for some lemons and I got some. It helps with the flavor just slightly but not very much. The sauce tasted more like the pud seewew instead of the pad Thai, it's too much brown sauce, it shouldn't be this brown or dark for Pad Thai. It should've been a red flag when I saw that coming into this place I didn't see one Asian person working in the back kitchen. The music and radio in the background is way too distracting and much too loud for such a small place and made my meal less enjoyable. I changed my mango juice to water with gas and I even asked the cook to change the drink order. The cook assured me I could change my drink order. He asked me if I wanted to change my drink order and I did. The other employee or staff clearly didn't want to take off the 2000 pesos for the juice that I had only had one sip from when he brought the bill and tried to argue with me that I would have to pay for 2 drinks since I had ordered the mango juice first, even if I didn't want it in the end. This guy is not so great with customer service. He actually wanted to argue with me about it. Telling me I had ordered it so I should pay it. I finally told the waiter that I didn't drink hardly any of the juice and I didn't want it, so why would I pay for it. He relented and finally gave up trying to push me to pay for a drink I didn't want. He didn't adjust the bill but just told me to pay 2000 pesos less. I paid it and I left as soon as he took the money as I was so annoyed with him and his idiocy.

This place is very small and cash only, but the food was perfect! Had the pad thai special and it…read morewas truly delicious! The mint homemade lemonade was sssoooooo good and perfect for this hot March day! This is right across the street from Santa Lucia hill and half a block from the artisans market, which I also highly recommend! Enjoy!
