Stopped into Savourer while exploring Blois on a recent trip through the region. We were looking for a good spot for lunch, not really sure what to expect, and happened to find this place. Very, very happy we did!
This place is located somewhat up the hill, a couple blocks north of L'escalier steps, on the north side of the Loire River in Blois. Inside, it's very cute, with quite a few tables and an upstairs with more seating, as well as a rather large bar. Service is very friendly, primarily only a couple of folks who are really working hard to ensure everyone is having a good time.
We stopped in for lunch, and the menu is very reasonably priced, though depending, you may find it somewhat limited. Four appetizers, seven lunch entrees. I mean, that's certainly enough in my book, and it makes for more efficient service as well, especially for lunch. We opted for the veggie tacos, which is comprised of falafel, peppers, and guacamole in a tortilla with an herb yogurt sauce. The falafel was well cooked, not dry, and the yogurt sauce was very tasty. Also, we ordered the chicken burger, which is not a burger in the sense of a slab of chicken between two slices of bread/bun. This is an open-faced monster, covered in carrots, caramelized onions, and covered in a homemade curry sauce. Absolutely fantastic! The chicken was incredibly tender, the curry sauce was fantastic, and the whole dish worked perfectly. Both were served with a small salad and homemade fries, both of which were fantastic, especially the fries.
For dessert, we ordered a cappuccino, and also a jar of chocolate mousse, because why not? The cappuccino was standard, about what you expect, but the mousse was fantastic! Very light, with solid chocolate flavor, and chocolate chips on top and throughout. It was also served chilled, which was a nice added touch.
Overall, this place is in a great location, very convenient, not far from a large parking lot, and they serve fantastic food. Highly recommend! read more
